It was a legit compliment to purdy. But i really dont think ba heard the older player in that stay out of the media while in the negotiations...ba hurts his brand more than benefiting it with being the media. The two sides' positions were almost aligned, so a little more movement from one side or the other probably means you have an agreement. If the Niners had upped their offer back 2 months ago (like offering that $26 million APY then instead of only a couple weeks ago, or offering something like that $25.7 million APY double-bonus contract from the article), I think there's a very good chance Aiyuk would have taken it. I think Aiyuk's statements make it clear he was willing to sign a deal before the other receivers starting signing theirs, but the Niners didn't go quite as high as he wanted in order to do that. So now, because the Niners weren't willing to sweeten their offer a little more 2 months ago, they're probably going to end up paying even more than that to get the deal done after these other contracts happened.
Brandon Aiyuk in my opinion should make at least as much as Waddle at $28+ million and up to what St. Brown earns $30+ million. It seems to me the $29 million dollar range seems like the sweet spot.
