@@steveegallo3384 I'm a fan of Dvorak and Janacek so I am interested in conductors with a special sense and passion for these composers like George Szell and Raymond Leppard. As a young men I collected records of Decca and Supraphon with performances of V.Talich, W.Rowicki, I.Kertesz, K.Ancerl, Z.Chalabala and last not least V.Smetacek, lastly it was a discovering by chance. Many of them are well known in their home-countries but pretty unknown in the rest of the world.
This is beautiful! However, in some areas more then others, this recording is not perfectly in tune. It sounds almost a half step higher then it should be....particularly in the Credo. Definitely not absolute perfectly in tune. Though I am sure the performers themselves were in tune when they sang/played this....I think it has to do with the recording itself...the way it comes through..... or something....
By far the best performance ever.... Smetacek often underestimated at his best !!!
