Just to say that this review really convinced me to buy my first skates since my 1998 fitness K2s! Yeah, I'm a 40 yo dad getting back in shape... :) After watching many hours of videos about these ''mysterious'' triskates by Ricardo, Tiago, Asha, Loco Skates,Bill, Thirty_and_rolling and you, I went with the FR3 instead of FR1 for budget reasons, but your review and relaxed skating style really talked to me, so thanks for taking the time to do such an analysis. The 110 wheels really make a difference on my rough small town roads. I did have to heat mold them a bit though, widening them at the foot arch and narrowing at the forefoot. But since I got the fit right, they really feel like an extension of my body! They work great for small sidewalks jumps, light slalom and downhills , all along my 30 km fitness runs. I feel like entering a whole new world of possibilities and now work on my speed skating technique and power stops. So yeah, sincerely, thanks again!
Thank you very much for watching. If you get the chance I would recommend trying either Seba or FR. Although their design is less innovative than the powerslide NEXT I think they are still a good skate.
Nice video! Your conclusion is pretty much as I expected, I have the fr1 310, and I can see the advantages of a slightly shorter frame, as well as the even spacing of the wheels. By the way, I have both a 2015 and 2016 model fr1, and the 2016 had the upgraded liner, but I still prefer the 2015 model! This looks like a very nice skate, but I'm happy with my 310's, I've gotten so used to them. Slightly jealous of your skating skills haha. I'm getting there. Happy rolling!
Hey Johro. Thanks for watching. The seba 310s look fantastic skates. I'm not surprised you like them so much. This week I wore my 2015 Seba Fr1s with 80mm wheels for the first time in ages. After just a few minutes I realised how much I love those skates! Happy rolling too buddy. Hopefully you'll post another vid of your own soon?!
Guys, what is better for you? This 3D seba frame or the supersonic? I have this red fr skate and i feel good. I am looking the 3x110mm to more velocity.
Holy cow, I just skated in the FR1 310's for the first time today.... I didn't think I'd ever feel like this on skates. It's so buttery. Silky. I honestly just wanted to be outside all day. Thanks for the video and info it definitely influenced me to pull the trigger even with the price tag. I'm just a casual skater who had some K2's that I got for like $100. They were cool but TRIskates are a lot funner imo and FR you can just tell they are a cut above with everything.
I'm happy with my beginner's skates. If I were an advanced skater I'd totally get these. I like the fact the frames are not long, how the wheels sound and glide smoothly. Great review! Easy to follow.
Thank you for watching. My first pair of skates were one of my favourite. They were the skates in which I discovered how much I love inline skating and so they will always be special!
Honestly, the effort that you put into it is apparent. The footage that you selected for each subject was well chosen. I wish more skate reviews were like this. I hope your channel continues to grow. I look forward to your videos like I look forward to Pinto Pony Productions and Shop Task videos. I also highly respect reviews of products that were purchased with personal funds. Keep up the good work! :)
I really appreciate your support of my channel. I'm glad you liked the way I put the review together. I approched the review from the point of view of 'what would I like to see in a review'. I'm happy with how it turned out although plenty if room for improvement in future vids of this type!
I went for it and installed these frames under my Twister Edge 3WD and I'm happy to report they're super agile compared to the frames the 3WD comes with.
@@whittyskater Ah hopefully you can get partnered soon as you have some really good freeriding vids! I can't help but feel like these frames are FR's answer to PR's Trinity. A concise 230mm vs Trinity vs FE Supersonic/Seba FR310 frame comparison would be very helpful to those just getting into triskating.
Thanks for the complete review! I am more into transitions to backwards skating and 180 jumps for the time being, so I suspect I might appreciate the slightly longer Seba 310 frame for slightly more stable landings. I want to do more jumping and I want to absolutely avoid wobbling on fast downhills. I also love doing speedskating double push sessions, so the Seba frame ticks more boxes indeed.
Good review and nice skating. I am looking to get a new 3x110 pair of skates and had not considered these but I think I should based on your review. Thanks!
hi I would like to know the exact size of your foot, mine is 27cm without sock, I would like to know this to take the right size because from your comment you say that they are a little wider than seba, thanks
Thanks for the great review. Perhaps you can try out Powerslide’s NEXT 110? They should be riding lower and give you more control. It is 243mm long frame, not sure if you will find them not so maneuverable.
Thanks for watching! I'd try to try the powerslide NEXT sometime. They look a good skate and are certainly popular. That low wheelbase should certainly help with control.
This is a great review, thanks. Like your videos nothing 's left to imagination which in this case is the expected and also great speech skills which for a non native Englush speaker is just perfect. I am having the opportunity to choose between the FR1 310's and the Twister Edge's. Besides the usual problem people have with feet width on the Twisters people praise them for its lightness and less bulkiness compared to the FR1's. I travel quite a lot for work reasons and in my spare time try 2 go exploring the different places l travel in my inlines so volume and weight is important for luggage purposes. About narrowness of the Twister l believe i can do the trick with a heat gun as l saw in your tutorial vid and others but anyway people praise the FRs quite much for overall quality, durability etc. so lm in a struggle trying to decide which pair should buy. Not asking you to decide for me, of course but l would appreciate an honest opnion. Note: Both are second-feet (😄) stuff and l will buy them online so no chance to try them until the purchase's made. Where l live is easier to win the lottery than finding a skate shop. Thanx a zillion.
If I had to choose I would go with the FR1s just because I had less problems with them. The Twisters though are definitely a closer fitting boot. Just be prepared for pressure points!
Thank you for that video!! Im searching for long years other skates but for me it is very difficult to change!!! I have the same skills with my four wheel skates and like to try that fr1 three wheel version!!!!
Thank you for the review! I got a pair of FR 325 last summer, and I am still getting used to it. After watching your video, I might change to a 110mm frame for transitioning. This guy deserves more subscribers!
Thank you very much for watching the review! I also have a 125mm triskate frame but it is not a FR frame. Its a powerslide one. I much prefer my 110mm. Much easier to control. I have done a small review of the powerslide frame. Please see my earlier videos.
Seba and FR are the same company in essence. They pulled FR away from Seba to protect the company when a legal suit was filed. This way the moulds for the boots, the wheels and everything else under the FR brand was protected
Hey there I have a question for you. Do you find that your intuition liners need some reinforcement on the ankle area, like you mention at 2:13? Thanks :)
@@whittyskater hmm okay. I just bought the FR1 Deluxe that has the Intuition liner, I’m considering finding something to stick on them to protect from screws in the inner shell.
Many thanks for your review, really liked it! The FR1 310 skates seem perfect for the city, but would you recommend them for fitness and longer rides (25km+), too?
Hi Whitty! Thanks for your awesome review and videos! I wanted to ask you about the boot. I also own that model of FR1, and long time ago I had Seba FR1 (2013 model). Thing is, the Boot in FR1 is definitely different, worse, it causes abrasions on the inside of the foot in the place where there are rivets for the lower buckle, which causes painful blisters. I tried to use heat gun to adjust the shape, wear 2 pairs of socks, but that changed nothing, blisters appears after 30minutes of ride, and the pain kills all my joy :( Do you have any suggestions what other boot from different FR/Seba model (so it would fit the frame) I could use as an alternative for that one, or I just should buy new pair of different skates? If so, any advices which skates would you suggest? Thanks!
Can you please tell a few words on how do they behave on rough urban surface? Does the vibration feel much more uncomfortable then the 4 wheelers? I really concerned about this issue🤔
I don't own the RBs and I haven't tried the Twisters with a 3 wheel setup sorry. The FRs do have a short wheel base though. I would check their websites to see the various stats if I was you.
Great review. So when do the stability issues arise? Is it when you are going fast? And is the better control you experienced have to do with making better turns and stopping compared to riding on 4 wheels? I'm really curious if 3-wheel skates would be good for roller hockey?
Thank you. They are pretty stable even at high speeds but if you go really fast you will get some speed wobble because the frame is short. Yes the better control means I could turn and stop in them almost ad good as 4x80. Personally wouldn't want to use them though for hockey. Too high off the ground and think you will hurt your ankles with all the quick movements involved. A tri skate with much smaller wheels might work though but not convinced.
Thanks for watching! I'm in no way a slalom expert but slalom is possible. They have a short wheel base, for big wheels, so turning is relatively easy.
The seba/FR and Twister have a very different fit. The seba/FR are a wider fit and have a more padded liner. The Twister are a more narrow fit with a slimmer profile liner. Ultimately I love both skates but if I could only choose one it would be the Seba/FR.
@@whittyskater Thank you so much for your quick response.. Plus, just to let you know I learned how to stop (t-stop && power stop) from you and Skatefreshasha (still practising though).... You got skills WHITTYSkates... and I love your dedication to the sport... Can you kindly post more teaching videos - jumping, slalom, crossovers etc...
@@joshmcdzz6925 no worries. It's great to hear my stop video has been useful. When I was learning I used Skatefreshasha all the time. She has some fantastic tutorials.
Thanks for making this video, i have been looking everywhere for review and could not find it. I want to buy these frames i currently have FE supersonic 3x110 251mm frame and wanted something shorter with evenly spaced wheels.
@@jonatanmonsalve3059 i like it actually! its the lightest frame and built well, its also maneuverable. But since my feet is 265mm i want to try something shorter.
@@mephistopheles5327 the FE frame has 251mm and i think that's very long to my feet... My feet has 24,5 cm! Do you feel more velocity with the supersonic 3x110?
@Mephistopheles Thanks for watching the video. I hoped it has helped you. I really like the 3D frame. It seems to be well made and solid. I also like the look of evenly spaced wheels. I love how much control I have with this frame and for me this is its best feature.
@@jonatanmonsalve3059 I dont have other 3x110 frames to compare it to. but i think its the same speed as my 4x90 skates or maybe the 4x90 might be little faster. but the 3x110 is more maneuverable and fun.
Great review ! Are there any major differences of the year issue on the skates ? Can't seem to find this info anywhere. Just got the black model and for now they hurt like hell on the inner lower part of my foot base :(
Hello awesome review, I’m also interested in this skates, but there are some things that I mind, can you help me about that? is easy to control on slopes, easy to manoeuvrable on hi speeds, easy to make sudden stops? There are hi slopes where I live, this skates look really fast but I’m afraid that what if I cannot stop if I need to and hit by a car or hit a person. I’m looking for a real upgrade to my old 96 rollerblades, I tried the fr boot in a shop and it was awesome, but it was a 4 wheeled setup, after thinking about it and many hours of UA-cam videos, maybe I could do more with 110mm triskates, more freedom right? The only concern is how to control speed on hi slopes, and there are cars and motorbikes around trying to push you out of the road. 🤔
WHITTYskater thank you very much, it feels like triskates are much enjoyable, I would like to try one, maybe I’ll go to decathlon first and try an oxelo triskate 110 mm
Hey hope you are well - and staying healthy / safe in these times. Really enjoying your content, and had a question, if you have time. I really liked you FR reviews, and am considering getting a pair. But I am torn between rollerblade endurance 110, rollerblade maxxum 125, and those FRs. I’d say I am an intermediate-advance skater, enjoying city skating as well as long distance skating, and whenever I find a nice long hill, really love flying down them. I am leaning toward FR because 125 feels cumbersome (and potentially not as easy in downhills, and Endurance feels not as versatile since they are more marathon like - but I am concern I’ll lose some of the speed I might be able to get on Maxxum and Rollerblades with FR. Any thoughts? Second questions - How do those FRs fit? True to size / smaller / larger? I wear US Men 10.5 - 11 shoes, and my current skates rollerblade 90MM (soft) and they are 11, and I am happy with that. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching my channel. It's hard for me to comment on th RB because I have never rolled them. In terms of the FR they are a great all around skate. The 110 I think is good balance between speed and being able to turn. I've use 125s in the past but don't like how slow they turn. I went with my regular shoe size. Length wise they were spot on. Be mindful though the FR are quite a wide skate.
@@whittyskater So they did arrive, and the box says size 11, but liner says 10.5 ... Not sure if that's just how they are or they sent me the wrong skates. They feel very snug, my toes can move just a little but def touch the end of liner - I am wondering if I should return them, or hope that after breaking in, it actually will be the perfect size.
@@peymanallahverdizade3535 i guess it depends what you find comfy. I touch the end of the liners in all my hard shell skates. I prefer a snug fit though. They will ease though as you wear them in.
@@irvin4019 not yet! Since I don't have any shops near me to try them on I'm doing a bunch of sizing research since I'm nervous lol. I'll let you know when I do though 🙏🏽
Nice work :-) May I ask how tall are you? I started on 243mm long 3x110s and later gradually switched to much longer frames and I realized that I should have started on those which would have prevented a lot of falls in the beginning. I am 187cm, sg. like 6'2". I wonder why nobody started recommending frame sizes based on body length which is actually the most important factor related to stability. Just like with skiing. And there is a fair amount of common aspects between the 2 sports. Sometimes foot length is considered, but I think it is not that important. Also for crossovers, longer legs help a lot, which is usually directly related to body length. You will probably still improve on the shorter frame, but there are certain moves which are much easier on longer ones. Also I do a fair amount of hills where stability is even more important with the higher speeds. You could probably also try to get a smaller shell and a thinner liner. My feet are also super narrow: 294mm but I can use a 43-44 PS Imperial shell. All that said you could maybe guess that online material of Leon Basin and the Shop Task guys helped a lot with my evolution for the perfect inline skating gear. I feel I start to belong to their church :-)
Thank you. I'm 178 cm tall. I agree that the taller you are the longer frame length you probably want as it will effect your centre of balance. I don't do alot of fast or downhill skating so I don't mind having a shorter frame. I personally like the shorter frame as I prefer control over speed. Narrow feet are a problem! I also own some imperial boots which are narrower than either my Seba or FR, but unfortunately they rub my ankle. Leon and Shop Task are amazing to watch on their wizards. Would love to try wizard skates to see how much control you get with a longer frame.
@@whittyskater As much as I like the Imperial boot as much I almost hate myfit liners. Bulky and some seams totally at the wrong place. The model second skin is probably a bit better. You should try the Intuition liners. Aren't those Imperials rubbing because they are too big? My first 45/46 shell Imperial was also similar. But the 43/44 with the Intuition liner is just perfect. I won't say it is comfortable stepping in, but I can skate for hours without any issues. If you listen some of the Mushroom Blading podcasts featuring Leon he sort of admits that the Wizard frame idea came up to make the life of beginners super easy. Anybody a bit more serious about inline skating should be able to achieve a big part of the feature set of a Wizard frame. The most important part is correct wheel rotation, but combining used and brand new wheels is easy. I have bought solid speed skating frames and I put a 2mm smaller wheel to the front and 1mm smaller to the 4th place. If a Wizard was available for the 165 mount I would probably already own one though. And I also still enjoy putting back my triskate sometimes.
My Imperial is the 43/44 which is about the same as my other skate sizes so I don't the size is too big. I think the rubbing is a comination of the liner and the insole. Something rubs just below my ankle. To be honest I have not used them for ages. I should probably give them another go. I would love to try intuition liners as most people say they are the best. But they are very expensive! I've also been hoping they would release a wizard frame with a 165 mount. That would be cool!
And what is your foot length? No more personal questions - I promise. That's the shity part of the double sized shells, you might be just unlucky. But for me the 43/44 Imperial seemed to be just impossibly small with the original liner. I almost couldn't get into it. Maybe check how much space there is if you step into the shell without the liner. There shouldn't be much. And yes they are expensive, but they look damn cheap after 3-4 attempts to find a properly fitting non custom skate. Leon also reacted with a kind irritation on comments about the price. He said: come on, it is a 2 day ski pass :-) And they decided not to make a 165mm mount version 'cause their background is agressive skating and they wanted to keep some part of the feeling if I understand correctly. Don't search for the rational reasons, that's part of the religion already.
Ha ha! So I didn't know how long my foot actually was so I just messured it. 273mm more or less. Well for now I will just have to dream about owning wizard frames and intuition liners! Hopefully one day I will get to try them.
Just bought these skates & wanted to know if you can use the same boot & add a 4wd frame & 90mm wheels if you wanna switch things up every now & then? I've never bought nice rollerblades before so Idk how interchangeable things are.
Thanks for this video! 👍🏻 I had a pair of skates during many years, I think it was 4x76mm. I loved them. Then I tried 4x90mm for few months. Now after many years without skating I would like to start again. I want a pair of skate easy to ride and versatile. I don't know what to choose, fr1 4x80 or fr1 4x110? What do you think is the best? Thanks. 😉
Hi Mate, I appreciate the review. I am considering getting the FR1 Deluxe Intuition skates, because the sizing is a little different and because I fall in between sizes in the other skates. My feet are 24cm long and 9-9.5cm wide, so about regular width according to some online charts. Would you mind mentioning your foot length and width? I'm trying to get a sense of whether the FR1 Deluxe would fit me. The skate size I'm looking at is 23-24cm, so I would be right at the top of that range, and I'm hoping that would mean not only a good performance fit, but that the length to width ratio would work out for me. I have another question. How high do you feel the heel raise is in these skates relative to other skates you've tried? Do you find your center or gravity over the balls of your feet, or are the pretty evenly distributed? I'm kind of having an internal debate as to whether I should get a raised heeled skate like the FR, or a skate that's completely flat like the K2 Uptowns, because I don't like shoes with any kind of heels in them and much prefer flat shoes as I feel more ankle stability and maneuverability in flat shoes, and I like my weight evenly distributed over my entire foot as opposed to being on the balls of my feet... but I just don't know if that same logic applies to skating. Maybe that's a strange concern for some people, but I would love to hear your thoughts on this if you have any.
About 28cm long and 9.5 cm wide. I'm not sure how they size the FR1 deluxe but i have a medium intuition with a 42 shell FR1as the intuition allows you to downsize. My fr310s are a eu43. The stock liner is much thicker than an intuition. With regards the heel all FR1s come with a removable heel insert. So you go flat or raised
@@whittyskater Thanks so much, that's good to know. I actually ended up getting the FR1 with the regular liner in a size 37 which is 23.5cm, so I'm hoping it will fit my 24cm long, 9.5cm wide feet. Good to know about the removable heel insert.
First, thank you for these vids! I have looked long and hard for someone who can actually teach as well as you. I am an a petite older woman who has been skating on in-line 4 wheels for recreation for some time (love it!) but still never mastered the art of stopping 😢 (but I just checked out your stopping video and will give it a try) I can’t afford to hurt myself at my age so I need a lot of stability and I don’t care about speed or tricks but I would love to go on rougher trails. Do you think I should attempt 3 wheels or just bite the bullet and stay with the 4? (do you have a recommendation on brand? I have very small feet) Thank you in advance.
I think you can try 3 wheels if you want to. If you have small feet maybe 3x100mm or 3 x 90mm might work well for you. Your best bet is to contact a skate shop and ask them what skates are available in smaller sizes. Not sure where you are in the world but Locoskates are a shop based in the UK but they have a good website with lots of skates and they ship all over the world.
A fitness skate tends to have a soft boot as compared a hard shell boot. A soft boot is generally a bit more comfy and probably breathes better so your foot won't get so hot. They tend to be less rigid though so are not ideal if you want to do lots of turns and are will also get damaged more easily. A hard shell boot is designed to take more abuse and so is maybe more of an all around skate. Sorry not sure if this is a good explanation.
Just bought fr3 310 today to replace my fila nrk fun. What is the difference between fr1 and fr3? Also, can I use the seba fr colour kits to customize my fr3
That's great you just the FR3s. I think the FR1 just has slightly different frame and wheels. I think you should be able to use the seba colour kits. As far as I can tell the FR boot is the same as the 2016 and 2017 Seba boot.
Good review. How does the FR1 310 compare to a 4 x 80 mm skate in terms of agility and speed? I ask as I have 4 x 80 mm (Bauer x300r), 3 x 100 mm (Powerslide Zoom Pro) and 3 x 110 mm (Rollerblade RB 110) skates. The last one is MUCH faster than the others (which are about equal) but it has a 255 mm frame length, and it is not agile, quite the opposite. It’s obviously more for speed and/or distance. I wonder if your FR is both fast AND agile due to the 230 mm frame length.
So I can only compare skates I own. So if I compare my FR1s with a 3 x 110mm and 4x80mm the 110mm is faster but less agile. I don't own other 110mm frames so all I can really say is the relatively short frame that cames with the FR310s makes them both fast and fairly agile but if you are used to a 255mm frame length you might find them less stable.
Not my daily as such. I tend to roll 4x80 more often. Well if you are happy to pay the extra get the FR1 I guess as they have slightly better conponents. But the FR3/X still look great skates
I recently got the FR1 310s in a size 13.5 (47), but my toes are still feeling cramped. Any suggestions on how I can free up space in the toe box or make the liner longer, other than taking out the insole? Many thanks!
Perfect review. May I ask your opinion about the positioning of the frame. With 4x80 - frame is attached to the middle hole #3 on below graph. But these arrived with frame attached to #4. Can you please share your opinion? is it better to have it on #4 or #3? I can't understand by trying both. I feel the difference but can't digest it. 1 2 2 3 4 4 5
Thank you for watching! So I use 4x80 and 3x110 on position #3. I prefer to have both frames in the middle. The only thing I do with my 3x110 is to move the front of the frame inwards slightly to make them easier to turn. I only move them though 1-2mm. Hope this helps.
@@whittyskater One of the top speed skaters (pascal briand) recommends rotating the frame slightly inwards too. It makes him easier to doublepush. I'm adjusting my this weekend :) in hope for better edge control. Will recenter them axially as well: they came with more forward setup out of box. Thanks for the tips.
This is an excellent review, thanks a lot! I am a beginner on inline skates, and I would like to try the three-wheel skates. Do you think this is a good one?
Thank you! All my pants (we call them trousers in the UK!) come from a UK shop called Primark. Sorry but I don't think they have stores outside the UK.
@@whittyskater Primark is Penney's in Ireland. All their clothes bear the Primark label. It's funny you get asked about the trousers you wear, I do too sometimes. I always wear combat/cargo pants for skating, they're easy, loose fit, hard wearing, lots of pockets! I like pockets.. Mine are ordered online, mostly from China, as I have trouble finding pants in my size, being a half pint haha..
Ha ha cheers for the info. I don't think Primark/Penneys have a website so for any non UK people it'll be hard getting a pair! My preferred trouser and short of choice is cargo. Like you I find the multiple pockets really useful...phone, keys , wallet, spare allen key, bottle of water all fit!
I don't know if you will see this, but Imma ask anyway.. So I'm starting off in skating and I'm getting more confident with skating as I'm learning new techniques and mastering my stopping techniques. However my pair of skates that I bought for £80 are starting to show how uncomfortable they are and I'm looking to upgrade to my second pair of skates but there is so many to pick from. I really like these cuz you described that you have good control and comfort. What do you recommend for me for a second pair of skates ? (I can only go up to £300 in terms of price)
Thank you for this great video! Btw. I like all of your vids. I‘m happy with my Twister Edge 110 (255mm frame) for more than 2 years now. But those FR1 310 look great! :-) Do you think the 230mm frame would be a remarkable upgrade?
Personally I prefer my skates to be snug so i'd probably go with a 42. However, how your skstes fit and feel is a very personal thing. My advice would be to try them on if you can first or at least talk to a skate shop for their help.
I also bought these and would not recommend them. I bought the red ones and the problem is that contrary to SEBA FR1s the cuff plastic in these is the same as the boot plastics and much much too hard so if you skate with any intensity you'll rip your calves to shreds. I ended up mounting my old SEBA High cuffs which are not a perfect match but so much more comfortable. Hey Seb and co you can do better!
What is the sizing for roller blades do yo just buy the same size as your shoe or go a size up ?..I'm thinking of getting in to rollerblading and im clueless..
Hi there, could you elaborate more about the changes they made in 2012 and 2016? Was it 2012 the swith to a wider instep cut of the shell and 2016 the thinner liner walls?
I'd go with you regular size. That's what I did. They maybe a little snug to start but the liner will soon give. Also the FRs have dual shell sizes. So if you go for a UK 9 the shell is actually a uk10 but with a UK 9 liner.
Hi, thank u very much for your information. I've never skated b4 but I'm mad to get into it at 45yrs of age.🤔😀 what would be the best make of inline skate for me to buy?? And I mad at 45 to be contemplating this?? Thank u in advance for your advice. Joe
Firstly you are not mad and not too old. I've had so many comments from people 40 and over who have taken up skating and love it. As for make of inline I can only really comment on the brands I own. So I would check out Seba, FR, Rollerblade and Powerslide. They all do great skates for beginners. If you can, get yourself to a skate shop to try before you buy. Good luck!
Glad to hear there are still 40 and over getting interested in inline skating. I'm one of them @45 and started just over a month. I've watched this over 3 times (great review though) and comtemplating on switching from RB80s to this. Is it a good idea? (I'm a begginer with about 10-15hrs of practice so far)
I have not skated in years. I am used to using hockey skates. The thing that I require in my skates for the confidence it a lock-in heal, or the vshape found in the back of hockey skates. I know the powerhouse bronx had this. But wondering it these skates have this also.
Yes the liner in these skates has a pretty good heel lock. Ideally I would suggest trying on a pair of these or any others you are interested in. They are different to how a hockey skate feels.
Being a plastic boot breathability is not great. Air does come in through the front though. I personally do not find it a problem though and I get very hot skating whether its summer or winter. I just remove the liners after each use to air them out.
Good video. well thought out and touched the points that every skater wants to know. good that you give them a good couple of months run before doing the review rather than after the first day. with the width. i got a narrow foot as well. would a thicker liner be better than 2 pairs of socks. ok not so bad over the last few days when its been bloody freezing haha. but in warmer weather and summer is there any ventilation to cool your feet down when its warm or hot weather? what is easier skating uphill 4 wheels or 3? or is it 6 of one, half dozen of the other. all the best
Hey there. Thanks for watching. I wanted to make sure I rolled the skates for a good period of time. I've pretty much used them exclusively for over 2 months. (Just changed to my seba highlights for my previous vid). A thicker liner may work but of course that is an extra expense. Two pairs of socks is working for now! The shell is ok for ventilation although it maybe could be better. I def think skating uphill in 3 big wheels is easier. As long as you approach a hill with some momentum you can maintain speed much easier than 80mm.
what is different between FR 1 310 and FRX 310? I am having a hard time researching this, no one had done the comparison. Maybe someone here can help me out?? Btw, nice review! Want to get a pair for myself soon!
Thanks for watching. I think the main difference will be in the quality of the frames and wheels. The FRX will have slightly less quality than the FR1. Also the FRX may have slightly inferior buckles and straps......however the FRX will still be a really good skate I'm sure.
Yes you can interchange frames but you need the right type of frame. These boots will not take a UFS frame. You would need a 165mm frame. I suggest googling frame types for some more detailed help.
@@whittyskater im a beginner again after 8 years of having my skates in the closest . I like the short frame and responsiveness and my partner wants to skate them too how do you feel about beginners on these?
Hi Whitty, I am shortly going to buy a pair of FR skates and narrowed my choice between the FR1 or FR2 (x4 80s). I come from a figure skating background and would therefore not consider myself a rookie skater. However, it has been many years since i have rollerbladed. I intend to use the FRs for general skating, recreational and fitness (no jumps or advanced tricks) - more distance skating as an alternative to running. Do you think the additional specs that you get with the FR1 are worth it e.g. better quality wheels, bearings, frame, metal fittings on straps and internal comfort features? Also, I am aware that the FR1s cannot be configured in a rockered set up (FR2s can) and i am wondering if given my ice skating background i should keep that it mind. Comfort is important too. I can see you have been skating for a long time so was interested in the reasons you chose FR1s over FR2s.
I didn't know the FR2s could be rockered. As you are coming from ice skating that might be the option. Tbh though either will be good. You can always achieve a rocker on the FR1 as your wheels wear or just get two smaller wheels
I've tried my similar Seba Boots with 125 mm wheels. Not really a big fan personally of 125mm wheels as i don't find them that easy to turn and stop in. That might just be my lack of skill though.
Glad this could help you buddy and welcome back to skating. 👊
Thank you for this awesome review! I am definetly bying them thanks to you. I have wide feet so it’s perfect for me.
Thanks for watching! They are great skates. Hope you like them.
Update ?
A great review. You included everything without rambling on - a perfect balance. Lovely proficient skating as usual too.
Thank you very much.👍
I just got these today and I love them! They are very comfortable, and I have wide feet.
Great review and nice skates. I've never tried sebas or frs and it's getting more and more clear to me that i have to.
@@whittyskater hopefully! Weather hasn't been so great. But yes I haven't uploaded in a while, will try to remedy that soon!
Cool. Will look forward to it.
Guys, what is better for you? This 3D seba frame or the supersonic?
I have this red fr skate and i feel good. I am looking the 3x110mm to more velocity.
@Jonatan Monslave Sorry but I have never tried the supersonic frame. I think @Mephistopheles has some and has commented about them.
That's awesome you are loving them so much. Yep FRs are good quality skates.
@@whittyskater Mine are Oxelo Fit 3. They're very comfortable. I got them at Decathlon. :)
They look like a very nice skate and they are a good price!
Great video Whitty! Five star review work! Thank you for your effort!
Thank you so much for watching! It took a long time to put this video together so it's great to hear when people enjoyed it! 👍
Thanks for this intelligent and thorough review. I just bought some.
Hope you like them!
I went for it and installed these frames under my Twister Edge 3WD and I'm happy to report they're super agile compared to the frames the 3WD comes with.
Great review. Would love to see a 230mm vs Trinity frame comparison video!
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I don't own a trinity frame. Maybe one for the future.
I just got a pair myself!!
That's cool. I hope you like them! What colour did you get?
Thanks for the complete review! I am more into transitions to backwards skating and 180 jumps for the time being, so I suspect I might appreciate the slightly longer Seba 310 frame for slightly more stable landings. I want to do more jumping and I want to absolutely avoid wobbling on fast downhills. I also love doing speedskating double push sessions, so the Seba frame ticks more boxes indeed.
Sounds like a good idea to go with the longer Seba frames if you want more stability etc.
taller wheels=less stable.
@@aubreygaraghan7479 far from the truth ,lenght of the frame is the key
Appreciate the review, looking to get some new skates after having a great 2021 with my 125mm Maxxum Edge Rollerblades.
Good review and nice skating. I am looking to get a new 3x110 pair of skates and had not considered these but I think I should based on your review. Thanks!
They are a great pair of skates. I think they are good choice if you are looking for 110mm. Thanks for watching.
Awesome review. Ordered the 2022 version in red!
Great review, I found it very useful. Thank you!
Awesome skating, and another great video keep it up!!!
Thanks very much! 👍
I just ordered them in full black version... Can't wait to skate my way through Lille ! cheers from FR
Hope you enjoy them
Great review!! And some really good skating
Thanks alot for watching. Much appreciated.
Great video! Maybe you can consider adding a thicker insole to prevent your feet moving around in the skates?
Thanks for the advice!
just what I was looking for, nice skating btw👏
Cheers. Thanks for watching.
hi I would like to know the exact size of your foot, mine is 27cm without sock, I would like to know this to take the right size because from your comment you say that they are a little wider than seba, thanks
Thank s for the review ..thorough and complete ...I'm definitely interested
Thanks for watching.
Very nice review! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for that video!! Im searching for long years other skates but for me it is very difficult to change!!! I have the same skills with my four wheel skates and like to try that fr1 three wheel version!!!!
They are a great skate. I love the the 110mm wheels setup.
thanks for the analysis. It is very interesting💪💪 I think I’ll buy them
No problem, hoped it helped. That's great you might buy some. I hope you like them!
Thank you for the review! I got a pair of FR 325 last summer, and I am still getting used to it. After watching your video, I might change to a 110mm frame for transitioning. This guy deserves more subscribers!
Could you do a review on the 325 next time?
Thanks :)
There is a little wear around the ankle bolts but nothing too significant. I guess they can't add any protection as they could be used in any boot.
Yeah they should be just fine for long distance
I tried to use heat gun to adjust the shape, wear 2 pairs of socks, but that changed nothing, blisters appears after 30minutes of ride, and the pain kills all my joy :(
Do you have any suggestions what other boot from different FR/Seba model (so it would fit the frame) I could use as an alternative for that one, or I just should buy new pair of different skates? If so, any advices which skates would you suggest? Thanks!
THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO! Me ayudo mucho a decidirme.
Can you please tell a few words on how do they behave on rough urban surface? Does the vibration feel much more uncomfortable then the 4 wheelers? I really concerned about this issue🤔
How would these compare to a rollerblade triskate (like RB110 3WD or Twister Edge 3WD?) I think the FRs might have a shorter wheelbase?
I don't own the RBs and I haven't tried the Twisters with a 3 wheel setup sorry. The FRs do have a short wheel base though. I would check their websites to see the various stats if I was you.
Very informative video, thanks
Thank you for watching. 👍
Great review!
Thank you!
Would FR1 310 be good fit for a beginner or would you still recommend to go with FR1 80? Thanks
Very nice review 👍 thank you.
How are these 3x110s for slalom?
Thanks for watching! I'm in no way a slalom expert but slalom is possible. They have a short wheel base, for big wheels, so turning is relatively easy.
I'm looking for an all-around skate to suit my son wife and I, I think the FR 3x110 is going to be it. Thanks again
@@CR-qr8xr It's a great skate so I hope you all like it. Happy skating!
Great review ... how would you compare these skates/Seba FRX 80 to the Rollerblade Twister edge ( I see you own both ) ?
The seba/FR and Twister have a very different fit. The seba/FR are a wider fit and have a more padded liner. The Twister are a more narrow fit with a slimmer profile liner. Ultimately I love both skates but if I could only choose one it would be the Seba/FR.

Why don't you like the supersonic? Is it very long? :0 :0

Just got the black model and for now they hurt like hell on the inner lower part of my foot base :(
I'm not aware of any differences. Maybe a skate shop could confirm for you?
Personally I find 4x80 easier to stop and turn in than 3x110. But it all comes down your own skill level.
@@whittyskater Thank you! I just went ahead and got a pair - waiting for arrival!! Excited to see how they are gonna feel!
Hope they are good!
@@whittyskater So they did arrive, and the box says size 11, but liner says 10.5 ... Not sure if that's just how they are or they sent me the wrong skates. @@peymanallahverdizade3535 i guess it depends what you find comfy. I touch the end of the liners in all my hard shell skates. I prefer a snug fit though. They will ease though as you wear them in.

@@AlmostLakai94 Yea sizing is always the worst part and shops are rare. Right on!
Nice work :-)
May I ask how tall are you?
He said: come on, it is a 2 day ski pass :-)
And they decided not to make a 165mm mount version 'cause their background is agressive skating and they wanted to keep some part of the feeling if I understand correctly.
Yes you can. You just need a 165mm compatible frame. I've used 4x80 and 4x90 with this boot.
Thanks for this video! 👍🏻
I had a pair of skates during many years, I think it was 4x76mm. I loved them. Then I tried 4x90mm for few months. Now after many years without skating I would like to start again. I want a pair of skate easy to ride and versatile. I don't know what to choose, fr1 4x80 or fr1 4x110? What do you think is the best?
Thanks. 😉
Personally I prefer 4x80.
@@whittyskater I saw your new video this morning where you say you prefer 4x80 😁😉
I see you pronate a lot less than I do. nevertheless have you considered moving the frame inward or are you good with the setup as is?
I value stability so much anything less than 275 for me is a no go
Hi Mate, I appreciate the review.
Thank you for the detailed review, is the overall boot/ cuff material harder than the seba FR?
Thanks for watching. The material is the same. Seems to be the same plastic.
Thanks!
have you tried powerslide swell? they should be slim fit.
No I haven't tried them. They look like a nice skate but thought they were more of a fitness skate?
@@whittyskater What's the difference?
I wish you got more technical on the boot tear down and part comparison
Check out the FR website for all the technical details. Hopefully you'll find what you want
just a random question in what position you like your cuff set ? I'm trying to figure out what feels better line in front, back, top ?
Back. See pictures on my Instagram for how I position the cuff bolts
WHITTYskater Thanks. The FR1 310 looks nice.
Is this your daily skater? Great video review!!! Nice skating skills. I love the power slide stops.
Also, Frx vs F1 vs Fr3? Opinion?
Not my daily as such. I tend to roll 4x80 more often. Well if you are happy to pay the extra get the FR1 I guess as they have slightly better conponents. But the FR3/X still look great skates
Yep I knew it. These are perfect for what I want.
that's great
Hi! Wich roller skate do you choose between Fr1 310 and flying eagle 110H?wich is more manageable in twists and turns? Thanks
I've never used Flying Eagle so can't compare. Perhaps someone else can answer your question.
I recently got the FR1 310s in a size 13.5 (47), but my toes are still feeling cramped. Any suggestions on how I can free up space in the toe box or make the liner longer, other than taking out the insole? Many thanks!
The liners will stretch as you use them so hopefully they will feel more comfortable. Otherwise maybe try a thinner liner.

No worries. Hope it helps!
❤️❤️❤️
This is an excellent review, thanks a lot! I am a beginner on inline skates, and I would like to try the three-wheel skates. Do you think this is a good one?
Yes i think these could be good skates for a begginer. These were the FR1s. You could get them a little cheaper if you went for the FR3 version.
Nice review! I also like your pants. Where can I get them? :)
@@whittyskater exactly!
Would you say these are wider than the Powerslide next? I just bought a pair of nexts and they feel super narrow.
Sorry don't own the NEXT so can't compare. I think most say the FR1 fits quite wide though.
I would try the FR1s. I can only recommend skates that I have actually used.
Hey can i switch the frame to a fr1 80m frame? So i can change between the wheels
Yep. Any 165mm mount frame will fit these boots.
@@whittyskater yo i appreciate it my guy
Thanks so much for the review, I just bought the FRX 310 ones, do you know what's difference between the FRX 310 and the FR1 310?
I would check the FR website for full details but think it's mainly the wheels and frame are a bit different.
also you have a velcro strap instead of a second plastic buckle like the fr1-3 have
Also the liner sometimes is different. The bearings are different. MW9 VS MW7
Thank you for this great video!
Btw. I like all of your vids.
I‘m happy with my Twister Edge 110 (255mm frame) for more than 2 years now. But those FR1 310 look great! :-)
Do you think the 230mm frame would be a remarkable upgrade?
Not really no. If you are happy with your frame I would stick with it.
What is the pole name you are using to hold your camera/phone? Thanks!
Camkix
thank you! good job 👍
Great review, but I have a question, my foot is 27.5 cm and for this length they have the size 42 eu. Should I get the 42 or the 43(28 cm)?
Personally I prefer my skates to be snug so i'd probably go with a 42. However, how your skstes fit and feel is a very personal thing. My advice would be to try them on if you can first or at least talk to a skate shop for their help.
@@whittyskater Thank you very much:D
@TheTurbomopar I went with 43 EU, and they are super comfy
I also bought these and would not recommend them. I bought the red ones and the problem is that contrary to SEBA FR1s the cuff plastic in these is the same as the boot plastics and much much too hard so if you skate with any intensity you'll rip your calves to shreds. I ended up mounting my old SEBA High cuffs which are not a perfect match but so much more comfortable. Hey Seb and co you can do better!
Thanks for your own feedback on these skates.
What is the sizing for roller blades do yo just buy the same size as your shoe or go a size up ?..I'm thinking of getting in to rollerblading and im clueless..
I go with my usual shoe/trainer size. I like the skate to be snug as it gives better control.
@@whittyskater ok thanks for the quick reply...👍
Width increased in 2012 and 2016 on fr1
Hi there, could you elaborate more about the changes they made in 2012 and 2016?
Was it 2012 the swith to a wider instep cut of the shell and 2016 the thinner liner walls?
@@freshasadaisy4782 Yes, exactly.
Had a hard time finding this skates in size 44, it looks like this model is obselete. Thanks netracing was able to find last in stock
Think alot of skates are out of stock at the moment.
I’m about to buy some it’s says to get the next size up what do you think? I’m a size 8 ?
Good luck!
Thank u so much. 👌
WHITTYskater 48 here mate. Just started. Two times out (would have been more but times being what they are!). Get some skates and go for it. It’s fun
I'm mad and old. 64 and going strong... because I skate. Go Joe, go! (P.S. Great video WHITTYskater. Just ordered FR1 310's.)
Hi there,
What's your opinion about breathability and ventilation for summer? Cheers
Being a plastic boot breathability is not great. Air does come in through the front though. I personally do not find it a problem though and I get very hot skating whether its summer or winter. I just remove the liners after each use to air them out.
@@whittyskater Thank mate!
@@leonardomantilla3478 no worries.
Good video. well thought out and touched the points that every skater wants to know. good that you give them a good couple of months run before doing the review rather than after the first day.
with the width. i got a narrow foot as well. would a thicker liner be better than 2 pairs of socks. ok not so bad over the last few days when its been bloody freezing haha. but in warmer weather and summer is there any ventilation to cool your feet down when its warm or hot weather?
what is easier skating uphill 4 wheels or 3? or is it 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
all the best
Yes I can very definitely say that uphills are easier on 110mm
what is different between FR 1 310 and FRX 310? I am having a hard time researching this, no one had done the comparison. Maybe someone here can help me out?? Btw, nice review! Want to get a pair for myself soon!
Thanks for watching. I think the main difference will be in the quality of the frames and wheels. The FRX will have slightly less quality than the FR1. Also the FRX may have slightly inferior buckles and straps......however the FRX will still be a really good skate I'm sure.
@@whittyskater Didn't expect you will reply each comment! But thanks for your help! and your video are inspiring
@@rishmond8916 I always try to help out if I can with any questions. Thanks for watching!
Try some 325 setups next
Can you interchange frames ? Is this a UFS ? What if I put 60mm on them
Yes you can interchange frames but you need the right type of frame.
I think they would be just fine for a beginner
Perfect review, thanks.
Thanks alot for watching. Glad you liked it!
What size should I get? Slightly bigger than usual or my size should be fine?
I went with my regular size
You can always achieve a rocker on the FR1 as your wheels wear or just get two smaller wheels
very useful video, thank you
Thanks
are they better than the Powerslide Next?
I don't own any Powerslide Next so don't know myself. Perhaps someone else reading this has tried both?
These worth the more money over the 200€ FR2's ?
I think the fr2s will be really good.
@@whittyskater ok, thanks :)
Has anyone tried the FR1 325? Overall great review.
I've tried my similar Seba Boots with 125 mm wheels. Not really a big fan personally of 125mm wheels as i don't find them that easy to turn and stop in. That might just be my lack of skill though.
かっこいい‼️
🤭✌️❤️
ありがとう!
Is it fast and comfortable??
Yes these skates are fast and comfortable.
I like it!
Thankyou!
