Aerial Elk Capture in New Mexico. Aerowest Helicopters and New Mexico Game & Fish Radio Collaring Elk in the Valles Caldera At 9,000ft in a Bell 206BIII Jetranger.
Turned out good for sure. We tried ti duplicate that shot in another one of my vids, (New Mexico Big Horn Sheep Capture) but the Go Pro Camera didn't fair too well…lol lets say it was unusable after!…….Its at the very end
This guy doesn't fly the helicopter... The aircraft and him are one! He is the helicopter! lol Awesome video, crazy skills! Salutes to the pilots and the guy on the gun, very nice anticipation on the net shots!
Sweet video Earl that was some skill when you were next to those trees I couldn't tell how close you were but it looked really close to me! But anyways I'm just starting Heli School and watching your vids makes me so giddy about it! Keep it up!
+ladedk You ought to come out here and see it in person. The state of New Mexico has passed legislation that nothing can be developed and very, very few hunting permits at the Valles Caldera.
Study study study! Be very patient and don’t get frustrated! Reach out to me anytime if you’re having trouble with something or have any questions. Hopefully I can help. Good luck! 👍
The netgin and especially the bit at the end reminds me of The Running Man with Arnie. That had a cool net gun too. It also had lots of other very daft things, but it had that cool net gun shot at the end of your vid :) I would post a link but YT seems to delete them.
:) I did the same type of capture, but we were targeting Mute Swans on the Chesapeake Bay. Fun times. We used flat bottom skiffs to get close to the swans before using the net gun.
This is quite typical of wildlife management experts. One of the reasons they do this is to make sure there are no diseases spreading through the animals. You gotta love game wardens!!! :)

I remember watching them do this on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom over 40 years ago and always wondered why they didn't use these on criminals instead of or before restoring to lethal force.
Forget the helicopter pilot! My support goes to the two men who run out of the helicopter in order to chase and take down an elk in a net. For me, the best part of this video begins at 5:53.
Thank you! Im glad you enjoyed it! Good luck with your flight training. Study, study, study! Keep me posted on your progress please. :)
Hey Earl I found your page!! This is so awesome! I enjoyed the cruise to the airport and learning all about what you do! Awesome!

Another awesome video! I bet those guys take a pretty good beating from the elk and probably feel it the next morning :)
This guy doesn't fly the helicopter... The aircraft and him are one! He is the helicopter! lol Awesome video, crazy skills! Salutes to the pilots and the guy on the gun, very nice anticipation on the net shots!
