The sad thing is that Netflix would die to have such a show. It's a terrific show with really good vibes, dedicated audience, and excellent acting and performances. I'm sad as I watched all three seasons even though I don't follow the NCIS franchise I watched Hawaii because of it's setting and cast chemistry.
LL Cool J is the one who killed the show. Like NCIS LA before, the show became ALL about him. If the bosses at the network had the slightest backbone they wouldn't have let either show become about him. I figured as soon as he popped up on the show that it wouldn't last much longer.
Actually he may have contributed to why it was cancelled. His salary as a series regular was probably higher than anybody else in the cast given his seniority from all those years playing Sam Hanna on NCIS LA but even if it wasn't there are only so many rich Hollywood actors any tv series can afford to hire as regular cast members so in order for LL Cool J to become a regular cast member either he had to add another 2 million viewers to the average 5 million plus ratings like last season's finale which he first appeared in or somebody else among current regular cast members had to be dropped. Neither happened. Hawaii has one of the highest costs of living in America as it is so its expensive to film tv shows there even without bloating the casting budget. I never had any particular issues with the character of Sam beyond it never being explained why a supposed Muslim was always drinking booze which is a basic violation of Islamic teachings but the way they wrote him into NCIS Hawaii was very poorly done by writers who didn't seem very familiar with the established character's background. There was no mention of his senile father he was living with in LA which was always a plot hole difficult to reconcile with him sailing off to Hawaii for a few months abandoning unless the guy died off screen. Even his sudden surprise appearance in last season finale to rescue Vanessa in South America had no really plausible explanation. They were evidently hoping to have LL Cool J in a spinoff called NCIS Elite from the general season plot trajectory but the way the last episode here has Sam's NCIS Elite all getting murdered by a random terrorist makes his whole alleged purpose of being in Hawaii seem pretty pointless. The NCIS LA series finale was much better written. The CBS exec that made the cancelation decision waited way too long to make it which is why the series ended up with a cliffhanger obviously.
These CBS executives disgusting. They used her celebrity to promote these shows and then cancel less than 15 days later. WTF!! Uncancel this show. This is a slap in the face to fans, actors and crew. The spinoffs are the reason for this, period.

The CBS executive who made the decision definitely screwed up by not giving the showrunners enough time to wrap everything up and I hope she gets fired. However the actors and writers just got a big salary increase to pay their bills for the rest of their life from residuals whenever somebody watches their reruns on CBS enough to generate advertising revenue. The spinoffs will obviously be cheaper to produce not being filmed in Hawaii which has one of the highest costs of living on the planet, especially NCIS Origins which will be using younger actors with salary demands way below LL Cool J busted their budget without adding enough fans to earn the big bucks he expects every time he's on camera.

I'm not surprised. Shows are cancelled for no reason all the time. Every time I get into a series it gets cancelled. I'm getting to the point where I'm not going to invest time into new series.
I am a dedicated fan of the NCIS franchise and I am very disappointed with the decision to cancel NCIS Hawaii. I became emotionally involved with the characters and will miss their further adventures. I suspect the reason for the cancellation is Hawaii is an expensive place and the State film board did not provide enough money so some profit obsessed bean counter shut down the show. They should look at the money they saved compared with the viewers they lost. I am one of the latter.

This was a beautiful show to watch. The constant shots of nature and the chemistry between individuals, including guest stars, was wonderful. No more shows in Hawaii, all gone. Aloha.
I am an almost 84 year old woman who has immensely enjoyed this program. Vanessa Lachey is a classy lady who holds her own in this program with a group of men who seem to be a real team. There aren't a lot of programs I look forward to viewing but this is one. Such a shame someone decided to cancel such a terrific show.

NCIS New Orleans really lost something when the character La Salle was no more. NCIS Los Angeles became all about LL Cool J's character and was tough to watch for it, look at the huge amount of screen time he got. Then they put him on NCIS Hawaii and it was LL Cool J overdose there as well.

NCIS: Sydney is probably next on the chopping block. I’m a faithful viewer of the OG show (since 1st episode!) and have dabbled in all of the spin-offs and have been slowly dissatisfied with the quality of the story lines and lack of quality content for awhile now.
I doubt you watched the pre-pilot episode of the OG but please cancel ncis sydney. That series is AWFUL, a boot leg, Z grade actors and the villians are too obvious. Just awful!
I can almost guarantee you that a LOT of social media involving STRAIGHT couples and families, grumbled and even probably emailed corporate and told them they disliked the Kate and Tory scenes, and when they become intimate. I thought she was an odd casting. Didn't have much acting credibility and many critics complained that she didn't have enough acting chops to carry the show as the lead. I applaud it for at least showing more diversity and representation though
Having interests in movie production, I loved to see the crew filming...(on Bethel St and Merchant St where they "dollied up" some bldgs and transformed it into a foreign town) and the final product which is shown on tv....in my case, online. Now I wont be able to see this!!!!
I am so sad to hear NCIS Hawaii is being cancelled. I love NCIS Hawaii. I love all the relationships on the show, except the Lesbian relationship of the two beautiful women on the show. I have never been to Hawaii and the scenes of that gorgeous state are so enjoyable to watch. The actors are all very good. I have always the military part of the show, as well. Please reconsider, and keep it on the air.

This isn't right, NCIS LA goes off and then i start watching NCIS Hawaii and now its cancelled. But CBS keeps NCIS going, and Sydney and now they are going to make a NCIS Origins, after this season of Blue Bloods i will have no more current shows to watch, shame on you CBS!
