His slane castle version is one of the best solos ever recorded by anyone. The tone of his setup is ridiculous and he's putting everything he's got into it. It's like he has caged tigers trying to tear out of his cabinets. Those power heads had to be on fire.
the guy is a fucken machine... all done with a telecaster and strat off the wall tied to a marshall... no gimmicks, no gimmick guitars.. pure talent and heart...
The first one from the Off the Map DVD is one of my favourites. Totally bitchin', agressive and dynamic. John always will be one of my all-time favourite guitarists.

I think he just use DS2, maybe he also use a compressor , The interesting thing is that you can hear his picking scratching the strings, sorry, my english is not good
