I will concur wholeheartedly with everyone else that you NEED to see her performance of Phantom of the opera on this show -it is utterly mindblowing! It is has gotten well over a million views since saturday, and for very good reason :) But all Floors performances on this show have been wonderful, so please please have a look at all of them - and on several of them you will need tissues, there will be tears! (guaranteed!). The other singers on the couch btw are Henk Poort, Samantha Steenwijlk, Rolf Sanchez, Emma Heesters, Tim Akkerman, and Ruben Annink, and theyve all done great performances on this show too so that'll be another thing to check out :)

In life, there is nothing better than Floor singing a song. or maybe better is Floor singing two songs... :)
So, in this Dutch TV show (Beste Zangers), Floor did 6 songs and two duets. This Shallow she did duet with Tim Akkerman
She has done five other songs. One in German, one in Dutch, one in Spanish and the other in English. Worth listening to. And in the final episode of this TV program she sings two duets one with Tim Akkerman (Shallow but as a duet) (Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper) and one with Henk Poort very well known opera / operete / musical singer in the Netherlands. They then sing De phantom of the opera. Henk has also sung this many times in the Dutch version because he was the phantom.

There are complete broadcasts that are subtitled, done by Denise Hofs.
It is not a competition but seven singers of different gerne who sing songs that relate to the person and have some meaning to that person for the person who is the center of attention. Every singer is once the center of attention. Some singers leave their comfort zone entirely. And the last episode is the duet version, every singer chooses someone with whom he / she wants to sing a duet.
One down, seven to go for Floor! And then there's Henk, and Emma, and the rest, have fun! :)
One of the best things about this show was seeing the reactions to the other singers on the couches during EVERY song she sang.
You're in for a HELLUVA treat!!! What a great show...we have nothing to compare here. Most of us came to see Floor, but stayed to watch how damn good the other singers were, each in their own way. It's a "reality show" of sorts, but don't let that dissuade you. The basic premise is that 7 Dutch singers get together at a resort in Ibiza, Spain. They get to know each other, each other's music, and take turns singing to each other. Each week one of the is the guest of honor, and the others perform for her/him. It's wonderful.
Denise Hofs has been translating the episodes to English - she became a hero of sorts for us.
This softer, quieter and smoother style is the version I actually prefer now.

Holy $#!/. If you guys haven't watched Floor on beste zangers you need to watch all.of them. Phantom of the opera is AMAZING! along with winner and que se siente. Please do these. If you need an idea for a potential live stream watch the episode where all the other singers sing to Floor

Floor could tear down the worst dictator and bring him to his knees with just her voice. That's why she's loved and defended so. You don't know until she does it to you.
There are no "contestants" on that show as it is not a contest. That being said, great reaction. You should definitely watch her other performances from there as well.
I will not dare to ask you to react to her performance of the Phantom of the Opera, because the army is going to ask you, LOL. Love when headbangers like us has the sensitivity to like songs like this. Good music is good music even though is not our best music style.

I've been, almost impatiently, waiting for you both to react to her performances on this show.
She did 8 songs in total.
The first 6 are: Vilja Lied (German), Mama (Dutch), Que Se Siente (Spanish), About Love I Don't Know A Thing, Shallow and Winner.
The last 2 songs in the final episode are duets: Shallow (again) and Phantom Of The Opera.
The performances by the other vocalists during this series are also amazing and definitely worth checking out as well.
Here's some info on the show and its participants.
Beste Zangers can be translated as Best Singers, as in the cream of the crop, but also as Dear Singers, as in the start of a letter, a way to address the singers.
The show is all about 7 vocalists from a wide variety of different musical backgrounds coming together to celebrate the power of music itself in its ability to connect and emotionally touch people.
It's not so much about celebrating each other's careers as not everyone has a long career to look back on, yet.
Everyone gets an episode in the spotlight.
During each episode we get to know each vocalist by learning about their childhood and musical upbringing, their inspirations, the forming of their musical direction, gradually moving on in their career to the point in life they're currently in.
Each of the other vocalists perform a song, adapted to their own style, that is written by or otherwise has great personal meaning to the singer in the spotlight.
After all performances, the singer in the spotlight chooses the one performance that had the most emotional impact.
However, it's not a competition.
It's all about love, respect and admiration for the music and each other.
In the final episode everyone does a duet with a singer of choice, so it's possible a singer can do more than 1 duet.
The show's host, Jan Smit, is a very successful folk singer, who sings mainly in Dutch and occasionally in German and whose career started at a very young age.
Participants for the 2019 series:
The younger blonde woman, Emma Heesters, is a UA-cam singer with the largest amount of followers in the Netherlands, who sings covers and does song collaborations with other UA-cam singers internationally as well.
The more mature blonde woman, Samantha Steenwijk, is a folk singer who sings typical Dutch tearjerkers.
The man with the dark hair and big smile, Rolf Sanchez, is a Latin/Dutch reggaeton singer who sings mostly in Spanish, with a successful career mainly in Latin America.
The man with the reddish hair and scruffy beard, Tim Akkerman, is a rock singer/songwriter, the former frontman of the very successful rock band Di-Rect, who's gone solo.
The youngest man, Ruben Annink, is a 20 year young folk singer/songwriter in Dutch, who's very gifted already, especially in the songwriting department, and has a very bright career ahead of him.
The somewhat elderly gentleman, Henk Poort, is a classical baritone with an astonishing career in musical theatre, operetta's and opera's, both domestic and international.
In the 90's he performed the lead part as Phantom in the Dutch production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom Of The Opera for many years.
As some story goes, it seems that Andrew Lloyd Webber himself might have said in an interview somewhere in the 00's that he thought Henk Poort was the best Phantom at that time.
Given the fact that the musical itself was/is being performed in various productions worldwide for many years, that says a lot.
Unfortunately, I've not been able to find the article for verification.
Last, but definitely not least, Floor Jansen is, as we all know, a heavy metal vocalist with extensive vocal training in rock music and brief classical training as well, a vocal coach, the former frontwoman for the progressive metal bands After Forever and ReVamp, the current frontwoman for the internationally successful Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish and a big fan of her long time idol Henk Poort.

concept, But ended up being completely blown away with all the beautiful talent of the other singers !!!
You should check out Floor's first appearance in the show because she surprised other artists (not contestants) for performing an aria with a metal twist "Vilja lied" in German that she doesn't speak. Kippis guys!
I higly doubt she doesn't speak German. English, German and French are teached in Dutch secondary school.
@@jhcfight Well, Swedish is taught in Finland as an obligatory language if one is speaking Finnish natively. But, most Finns can't even form simple sentences in Swedish because most hated learning Swedish. ;) Also Russian, French, Spanish, German and Italian are taught in Finnish school system but still most Finns can't speak them either. But most can speak English because it's everywhere. Some hardcore Nightwish/Floor fans told in various "Vilja Lied" reaction video comments that Floor said she didn't speak German.
I just saw an interview with a German interviewer, and she got the choice to speak in German or English. She said her German was a bit slow, and chose English.
The band gave here advice on how to sing it ( keeping it small) and she was very happy with it
I thought this was great and emotional and then a week after she sang 'winner' and I cried like a baby! I think it was her best performance on Beste Zangers! Check it out and check her comment underneath the video to have a clue about the backstory of this song. Just goosebumps!!! She is amazing!
This rendition went to #1 on the ITunes charts in the Netherlands only a couple weeks ago. You must hear The Phantom of the Opera with Floor and Henk Poort. Epic.
Kenny I could tell on your face that it was getting to you............ I suggest that you do all of Floor's songs on this show. You could spread them out or since they are only about 3 minutes long you might want to do a live stream and then you can learn the meanings of the songs to the other singers. Denise Hofs has translated the shows for us. Thank you to her in a big way. So we could know and feel what was going on with the individual singers. Just putting things out there........... Now you opened up "Pandora's box of music" ... if you are going to check out more songs from this show/season, i urge you to NOT start with the duets.
The duets, are "The Cherry on Top" of this season, and one doesnt start watching a movie at the end either, do we? :P (unless its a Tarantino movie... those can start anywhere lol)
Slowly work you way up to the duets, get some of the other singers and songs in first, because other than Floor, there is absolute GOLD sitting on those sofa's.
They all gave us performances, worthy of full length reaction videos. And its up to you guys now, to find those Gems :) (no worries, the NW army will help you out)
I personally would say, check them all out... but if i really had to make a list, of who to start with, then i say : Henk Poort, Emma Heesters, Tim Akkerman and Rolf Sanchez.
But that would be unfair towards Ruben and Samantha because they too gave us beautiful performances. (so.. yeah, react to all of them lol)

Another great performance of this show is from Emma who performs a song written by Floor while she was still in After Forever. The song is called "Strong" and is about her mother that is a chronic Rheuma patient. This causes her to be in lot pain, a fact she often hides from her children to not spoil the mood. Emma was un-aware of the background of the song but she picked it because when she was a child her mother got diagnosed with cancer (something she survived) so she recognized the emotion behind the song. The Final episode Floor did Shallow again with Tim Akkerman, slidely different and she did with Henk Poort Phantom of the Opera.
I can type a whole story about this, but the Only thing I will say Henk Poort played in the Dutch musical The Phantom!

Hecke and her did a cover of Phantom of the Opera that is mildly awesome on Beste Zangers :) She also did this as a duet on Beste Zangers with Tim Akkerman. Both of those would be good for a reaction....hell....any of her songs from Beste Zangers are just about perfect.
