My friends and I at 16 years old, would sit and listen and cry to the unbearably beautiful sounds of Johnny Mathis. I first saw him in person when he appeared with Henry Mancini and it was one magical evening. Saw him for the fifth time last year and was still mesmerized by the God given talent of this incredible man.
He is the greatest. No one today can touch him. We were lucky to grow-up with this beautiful man and his marvelous voice. Will love JM forever. God Bless John
Um Amo essa a muito tempo, era tema do filme o grande gatsby, mas somente agora na voz do inigualável Johnny mathis ficou maravilhosa ,estou encantada, mil vezes obrigada por ter postado essa canção, fiquei muito feliz
I remember when I was about 14 I was helping my mom go through a bunch of her albums and she was telling me which ones meant a lot to her, she handed me this one and had me put it on the turntable on our huge wooden stereo. As this song played, tears began streaming down my face and I couldn't speak for a few minutes..I'd never heard it before and Johnny's voice literally broke my impressionable heart... she looked at me and said, "see? now you know why I'll never get rid of this one..."
I have always loved Johnny Mathis songs and his excellent voice. Every song Johnny Mathis sings becomes his own. His orchestra is the absolute best. My daughter bought me this pad and I’m able to listen to Johnnys songs as much as I want. Technology is a blessing. I’m thankful for so much good in my life. I’ll never stop listening to Johnny Mathis the rest of my life. Thank you Johnny for all your wonderful music. 💕🙏🏽
Very Handsome,INCREDIBLE VOCALS .....I COULD LISTEN TO YOU FOREVER JOHNNY.THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE JOY YOU HAVE GIVEN TO SO MANY PEOPLE......LOVE AND GODS BLESSINGS BE YOURS ALWAYS xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxYOU WILL BE IN MY THOUGHTS ALWAYS Annette
What will I do Johnny, but keep listening, watching and loving you. You are the SONG that everyone of your fans love. Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice with us.
Thanks, first, to Mr Berlin for his vision. Thank you to Johnny for making this one his own. One of my favorites and I'm only 40. To all the the Hopeless Romantics out there Happy Valentines Day.... Red Rooster...
I asked my 2 daughters what they knew about Johnny Mathis and they said :isn't he the one that sings that song from that movie "Play Misty for Me",so I told them to go to youtube and listen to some of his older recordings, they were shocked to hear that he had that kind of range and song interpretation, and my youngest said she felt like he had neglected her love life by not acknowledging him sooner, now she's hooked
What an amazing voice. These lyrics are making my heartbreak. I wish I didn’t know what it feels like to stop and think these thoughts about a love that just couldn’t be.
jazzsynger, The pianist is Johnny's Conductor/Pianist, from 1974-78, Jim Barnett. He says his first "break:" came in February, 1972, when he was asked to fill in, for Johnny's pianist.
His voice is akin to a soft feather floating in the air. That air (his breadth control) tosels that feather to and fro at will. Just a remarkable instrument he was born with and he KNOWS had to use it. Saw him in concert 3 times. There will never be one like him.
@africanzion Yes, he is wonderful, wonderful. Blessed to have seen him perform just last night. He'll be 76 on Sept. 30... and he sounds great. He touches my heart.
No way! If this is really you Mr. Mathis, I thank *you* for your incredible talent, your discretion; staying out of the public eye, and the class you've always displayed when you were. My Parents played you when I was growing up and it was just amazing. God bless you Sir. @Johnnymathis-
I love this performance, for the simple fact that it shows that nothing phases a legendary singer like Johnny Mathis. Im not sure it can be noticed in this clip, but when Johnny is looking at the pianist at the start of the song, he is actually asking him for the first line of the lyric. He forgot the lyrics, lol. But as the consumate professional, he gets the line and continues as if nothing happened. The end result a beautifully delivered song.
WOW!!!. what a style to sing!!! Absolutely marvelous!!! Nobody can do it the way Johnny Mathis do!!!. I want to show my admiration for him and thank you 19rebel57 for give us such a treasure!!
Beautiful! Just Johnny and a piano, with his wonderful voice that is all he needs to accompany him. And haven't we all been in the situation where 'What'll I Do?' sums our feelings up perfectly? Thanks 19rebel57.
Johnny lives each song as he sings it. That kind of emotion along with his gorgeous voice put him in a class all by himself. I just had the privilege of seeing him live a week ago- even at the age of 80, his voice is flawless!!
Love this - he is one of my faves singing one of my all-time favorites. When I was 10 years old I told my family I was going to have him sing at my wedding! Thanks for posting!
This is by far my favorite version of this song, I’ve heard many versions over the years and this is still by far my favorite. I wish it was available on Spotify.
Que voz celestial! Que interpretação! Quanta emoção! Johnny (maravilhoso) Mathis. Deus o conserve assim para nosso deleite. Obrigada 19rebel57 por nos proporcionar estes momentos. jesus o abençoe.
Oh My, Oh My, what a beautiful new video shared by 19rebel57, as always. The quality of your videos just get better and better, they're the REAL deal and I am so happy that you are sharing these with us. Please keep them coming, they always rate the 5 stars that I'm leaving. Thank you again.
Irving Berlin was a Russian Jewish immigrant, who became one of the most successful songwriters of his era, yet couldn't read music, or play any instrument, other than 1 fingered piano. Never give up!
What can anyone say that hasn't already been said or thought by anyone who has been touched by Johnny Mathis? He is the VERY BEST and because he is SO Special, cannot be compared with anyone else...that would be unfair to them. I've and my wife have been lifelong followers of him and been blessed to meet him several times...ALWAYS he has been the perfect gentlemanly and I once told him, in London, 'The World is a much better place, because He was in it!'...he shook my hand and said 'Bless your heart!' He has personified himself as one of the finest example this world has ever been blessed to encounter...we've been fans since 1958 and never wavered. May God bless him as He has blessed us by placing Johnny in our lives. With love to ALL from Laurie and Ena Miles Bristol, England May 2017

I have never seen JM perform...but if I had only one song choice request, it'll have to be :"Yellow Roses on Her Gown." I think nobody dares!!!!It's like Karen Carpenter singing HenryM's daughter's composition "Sometimes."
He never forgot the Masters that came before him. this is a Nat King Cole classic, that Johnny sings indeed from his heart.
I can't think of any song he could sing that wouldn't sound beautiful
Anyone who aspires to be a romantic singer will have to fall in line behind this magical gift from above.
The best singer in the world, don't you agree?
Pavarotti was ya clown

His voice.... his phrasing.... If "being in love" had a voice, it would be Johnny's.
Perfect.

Thanks for the information about Johnny forgetting the lyric and asking the pianist about it. I had no idea this was what was going on.
