    Mark "Snowy" Robertson is the designer behind Dagger Kayaks. From the Nomad, Phantom, Rewind, and more, Snowy has been there putting ideas into final form. In this interview we discussed the thought process behind creating the all new Dagger Code whitewater kayak, and how it will carry on from the Dagger Mamba's legacy with an infusion of lessons learned from the Dagger Phantom.
    We also discussed a bit about the future of Dagger Kayaks with the development of the new Dagger Nova full slice boat which is expected to be released spring of 2022. Dagger has an incredible legacy in full slice boats with the Ego, Centrifuge, ID series. It is very exciting to see what a new boat with full Countour Ergo Outfitting will look like.

    it is pretty fascinating to see and hear how each kayak company approaches their designs...thanks for this Alex. I learn a lot listening to designers and why they choose what they choose. Nothing is ever going to be perfect for everyone.

    Excellent interview!!! You have a nak for asking the right questions and getting people to talk freely about the things they're passionate about. This is not only informative, but also fascinating. Keep up the excellent work! Your videos are much better than the number of views and thumbs up would suggest. Understanding their approach and philosophy is very interesting, and you brought that out too. Really I don't see how anyone could ask for more.

      Thanks! Yeah I could play games to try and ramp my views abd squeeze more ad dollars out of the channel. This will never pay the bills and more often looses money, so if it going to be a hobby then I'd rather focus on doing it right

      Definitely super exciting. After all this time there aren't a lot of boats that I get hyped about this early in the process, but this is one. Snowy is the perfect person for this project, you know he is going to kill it.

    Thank’s for another great interview Alex! I’m very close to pulling the trigger on a LG code after demoing a few weeks ago. It’s pretty amazing how short it paddles based on the bow/stern rocker. The thing feels like an easier to turn Nomad with edges. Perfect in my opinion. Have you heard anything about a next gen Jitsu??? My buddy has a 6.0 which is amazing but they seem impossible to find.

      Awesome! Thanks for the feedback!
      No, I'm just picking on Snowy because I personally want new playboats and more people doing freestyle again

    Great interview! Why do your people dislike your retrofitted ID 7.0 and what do you use to build a step out pillar? I recently got one and am playing with it. I appreciated your boatbuilder vids for inspiration. Recently put a
    Dagger Agent seat, back band and track in.

      So this boat is a ID 6.8 which came from the Ottawa/Montreal area. Mainly that meant that people were trying to use it as a modern playboat, or a big volume river runner, which it is neither. The main issue with these boats is that the seat bolts are under the water line which means these boats are constantly leaking. Nothing a little maintenance can't fix. Otherwise I think the ID is just an awkward "teenage years" type transition between the slice and spud era of playboats. it doesn't do modern tricks, and although it cartwheels like a dream it just isn't as rewarding without big wing ends flying around.

    Hello, sorry about that one comming off topic. But I'm realy interested in to find a boat which can go in to realy shallow I mean realy realy shalow creek. Like calm creek very shallow and just little bit of rapids like class one. I would be realy happy if you could do rewiev which boat is more on surface. Thanks and respect for all your revievs and tutorial, doing realy great great job.

      Hey Kristijan! You'd want to paddle an over-sized creek boat. Maybe something like a Burn XL, or Large Nirvana

    Mamba ? I see the Code as new version of the Phantom. Owning both the medium Code and Phantom are mighty similar when side by side. Either way the Code is a great boat to paddle.

    • @AlexBarham
      @AlexBarham  3 роки тому +1

      Definitely an excellent point. Anyone looking at the Code is going to see parts of the Phantom screaming and waving their hands. However, place it next to a Mamba and you'll also see where they took the Code to make something more versatile and forgiving, but with a modern tune-up.

    how does it compare to Machno?

    • @AlexBarham
      @AlexBarham  3 роки тому

      I would say it has much more of that new aggressive feel to it. The rocker is always doing something, and it takes more precision to keep it tracking. The Machno is going to bulldog through by comparison
