Relax, the plant is a mimosa, its just sensitive to touch , its not dieing or anything, we have so mucj of them here in Singapire, just go to big patches of grass here and you will see them, I loved to play with them as a kid

The plant at 4:45 has evolved that way :) it is a form of protection that it uses if bugs crawl on it (and potentially eat it) so it has sensory glands in the individual leaves that make them flop over when it is touched which should then flick the bug off :) it is simply a way of protecting itself so no, you're not hurting it :) there's a fun fact for y'all :D

And also it apparently closes because it this it's water droplets like rain falling on it, closes it closes to help absorb the water

I actually had a dream this happened, and I didn't believe it ofcourse but I also didn't comment it cause I was scared I would start gossip :') hahahahahahaha

we learned in school (botanic class, i am an apprentice for floristry) that you shouldn't touch the plant(mimosa) to often, because the closing motion really takes alot of energy to do because it's a self defense mode. if you do it too often it dies. it's the same with carnivorous plants. if you stick something in them like a toothpick instead of a fly they close, thinking it is something to eat. they produce the fluid to dissolve the insect they think they caught and that takes up alooot of energy and wokr for nothing.

The plant was a mimosa, and it folds up when you touch the leaves as when the leaves are touched the water inside leaves the leaf as water vapour, making the leaf significantly lighter.

The plant closes as an adaption to keep safe from horses when they eat try to eat them their eyes magnify everything so they think it's an animal... We learned that in Costa Rica and we have them everywhere here.

It's actually called Makahiya plant in the Philippines sometimes its stem is sharp
the plant is locally called 'makahiya' in the philippines. Its root word '-hiya', means shy in the country, so that's basically how the plant hides or withers off like as when a person gets shy. I'm not really sure but i think it's a weed.
