I really liked the haunted mines map, one of the things I miss about early Heroes.
The map was so broken though lol, as fun as it was
11:23 KT uses Phoenix and is wrecking Pally. Pally is running away and fears the Pyroblast. Pally you should rest a little, you might be tired
One of my all time favorite memories in HotS was a Sylvanas game around 2017. I had just started playing, so I was trying out all the characters I could, and I latched hard onto her. PVE is so much more rewarding to me than PVP, so walking into buildings and taking them by myself was so vindicating. I walked into a QM game on Eternal Shrines, and I went to the top lane immediately. The enemy team just never went after me. I got their fort and keep within the first 4 minutes. Game only went on about 8 minutes. One of the biggest stomps of my tenure.
I felt like a pure goddess. Old Sylvanas was so much fun, but you're right, needed to be taken away from us, lol.
I adored Sylvanas, I started in closed beta but only had a game here and there, used diablo (because he was a gifted hero), some raynor, oh tyrael is in the rotation?, but when syl was released, I immediately bought and grinded with her, on her, you get what I mean. I don't think the rework is bad, in fact it made her hero dps so much better, but when people mention how "specialists" were kind of made obsolete by reworks she is what comes to my mind.
Yes she was broken, yes her trait was cheese, yes she is the reason I even looked into Wow and I love her for that.
I feel bad for that Anduin. Pally ignores his lightwell all the time

I really liked the Haunted Mines, despite it being so broken.
Yes I wished we had one with maybe floating islands or something, using the same kind of "can see both levels from the higher level" element.
There were a lot of problems with mines before she was released. Old xp rules. Easy to steamroll. Short map with easy access to camps. Many talents and some characters weren't very good there. It was very hard to get xp to make a comeback unless the leading team played dumb. It all added up to frequent 13 minutes or less games.
I think my fastest game on Haunted Mines was something like 9 minutes. It was stupid how easy you could snowball out of control on that map.
@@Draeckon I don't have a great grasp of game... mechanics I guess, but even I could tell how quick a game could end on there. My friends let me be shot caller 1 time and we had a good push bot before obj even spawned. The entire team left bot lane to go collect skulls so I told everyone to stay and push to win. They got a 100 skull golem and it got to our keep before we killed their core

Thinking back on it, i think giving her a lv1 quest that works her way up to reducing her trait CD would work perfectly for her, maybe with a gamble system like Valla
For that to work it needs to be pretty risky like hitting multiple targets with the banshees or something. Because eventually the pressure you could put on would be awful. The reason she is more balanced now is because they gave the enemy team breathing room with said cooldown so you can time her attacks better rather than her just popping up in the top lane to take the core

i'm with you on this pally. sylvanas was my favourite character for the longest time. i never got used to the rework
Sylvanas was one of my favorites heroes ever, played with her since the Beta and it's hard not to say that since she was so OP but it was so fun to siege, clear lanes and camps fast all the while dealing very substantial hero damage.
Sylvanas will always be a great pick as she's a hero who can be built to be a mage jsut as easily as she can an auto attacker. This game feels like a better idea would have been Q/AA build.

I'm in the same boat as you, old Sylvanas was my favorite Hero and I just couldn't get used to her rework after all these years, I sometimes play her but it's now very occasionally.
I’ve played a lot of new sylvanas and love her w build.
For me, taking festering wounds at 7 is absolutely necessary because you can fire your e into the enemy team and then just w and auto the closest target and be guaranteed stacks and damage. It’s great against a healer like morales too because she can only heal one at a time.
It feels so weird watching these, because I love your videos and love your perspective and got into this game when I first moved to this town so it's got a sentimental feel to it, but also I am super done with HotS and with Blizzard in general. I think the end of this A-Z is going to be a nice capstone for my experience of this game, a nice way to close out that chapter of my life.
I feel like I've started to get a handle on Sylvanas since her rework, but it really is a radically different way of playing her despite technically having the same set of abilities. When it first dropped, I just could not wrap my head around it. It wasn't until I stopped playing her for several months, at least, that I was finally able to come back to her and try again with actual success. I had the same issue with Tassadar when he was re-worked, but I was actually happy with his changes for the most part, so it was a much easier transition to make... and also because he was _busted_ on his first patch. Not that you would know looking at his winrate though for the first few months, since a lot of Tass mains struggled to cope with how much survivability he lost.
If I remember right the haunted mines was my first ever map playing HOTs. I liked that map
it was the first map for all of us. pretty sure, it was the noob map back in the beta days cuz only 2 lanes. BEFORE sylvanas got in the game

That’s a perfect analogy about her. She was one of the first characters I got to level 10, because I adored her playstyle. Ever since her nerf, I mean rework… she’s not as fun to play. I wish they would bring back the specialist role again.
I really miss Haunted Mines - the whole ‘map on a map’ concept was really cool.
I also used to adore Silvy, then they neutered her - not even nerfed the poor Banshee, they just outright said ‘no, all those things you were good at? You can no be crap at!’
She’s literally the opposite of Tassadar, who was just *awful* unless you played the Hypercar build which felt utterly unlike what he should be as a character, then got turned into the ass-kicking DPS archon.
She got everything that made her ‘her’ taken away, while *retaining* all her powers, rather than having them practically re-worked.
Pushing lanes? Na. Do that once a minute, for a bit. But don’t do it too much. I mean, she’s only *the* split push character alongside Hammer.
Oh, wait, she was also the Queen of Solo Fights for a bit… but no, she had to be utterly ruined in DPS too.
Yes, she needed a nerf, but they made her kit an utterly generic and lacklustre version of the original.
Really, things like this are likely part of what killed HotS. I mean, what killed it was over investment for under return given it was competing against two games that offer vastly more *regular* depth of play on a single map - which yes, I do happen to think is dull, like almost every other HotS fan, although I personally like LoL for it’s slower paced and more in depth play. But I really don’t think some of the characters being wonky as heck, a heavy nerfbat being thrown around and drastic changes taking place helped.
But I could be wrong, that’s just my experience of game design - you always seem to lose people with big changes, then slowly pick up more if the change is good and word of mouth spreads

I'm 59-9-1 now following your builds. I played awfully this game but had an amazing blaze basically carrying this game taking lots of merc camps; you'd be proud. I kinda prefer the auto attack sustained damage build over anything mentioned since I'm also kinda old school with Sylvanas.

Almost forgot that Pally was doing another A-Z series. Even though I'm very late, it is tradition that I, one of the best Sylvanas players on NA, make my rounds. I'm not going to say much. Windrunner and Possession are busted and if you aren't playing aggressive wi-th her, you're winrate with her won't be anything spectacular.
It's so odd that Pally was the soul driving force for me to pick up the game in like 2016. Now both of us have mostly stopped playing. The times they are a changing.
Pally, dont forget that after Tassadar comes The Butcher and TLV

Why didn't they reintroduce haunted mines after her rework?
If I had to try to approach the haunted mines problem, I'd make forts and towers immune while the mines were open.
It's odd how much things have changed, in the past, KT was laughed at for taking pyro and always took phoenix. But now taking pyro is the better thing to do, so many weird things like this have changed over the game's history and since I last played that it's a bit odd.
Yeah the movement speed changes really affected a lot of abilities.
I used to main her for unlimited disable building and minion, now it just doesn't hit the same :/
Keep in mind if you go for the w stacking quest, you want to get at least 10 stacks a minute for it to be worth picking over the other two talents. If you cannot stack effectively, your lvl1 is almost useless. Just keep that in mind.
If you just want to have fun, then sure, but in a competitive environment, w build is only viable if you get those 10 stacks a minute.
Also, the lvl16 heal is only useful if you take the lvl7 e talent so you heal after every e basically. Not a fan of this Sylvanas build.
I feel that she became a Tychus clone in term of gameplay : activate the trait for extra damage while use other skill when they're up and available.
But in the case of Sylvanas, it's just not fun and depends heavily on the comp you have to make it work properly
Yeah I really liked her back in the day and I do agree that her Talent needed a nerf/change, but the actual rework for her changed her trait/abilities and talents so much, that I just can't enjoy her anymore even though she is still pretty good :(
Sylvanas has always been a hero I personally hated in the game. She felt like the old illidan did, where she could just do anything and get away with it. Great siege, great in fights, has a great escape with a silence, vulnerable and ability to turn off towers… I just always hated her. Some of that isn’t as bad anymore, but playing against a good Sylv is still a massive pain if you don’t have the CC to shut her down.

I get you don't like the E build, but when it's paired with the full withering arrows her damage and burst is insane and super fun. I think you should give it a second chance because.W build is literally one of the most boring in the whole game

It sounds like the problem with the Haunted Mines + Sylvanas was actually just a problem with Sylvanas. Why couldn't you just chew through to core with any camp or objective on any map?
Huh. I thought they took haunted mines out because swapping between underground and above ground got broken in a new and unique way with every new character to be added, so they decided it wasn't worth the effort.
Also, if Sylv's team can get the first objective on Braxis Holdout she can do nearly the same thing. Fastest gsme I ever lost was just such a situation, again about 4:30 mins.
They removed it because there was a lot of balance issues with the objective and Sylvanas made it even worse.
Then they started adding the characters and abilities that don't work with the way the 2 level system is implemented.
At this point it would take less time to remake the map from the ground up than trying to fix it, i remember they said that making a map was 6 to 9 months when they where fully staffed, so never going to happen now that there is like 2 devs working on it.
Is there a way to gift one of these minimap subscriptions to my team? I think all of theirs ran out.
This character used to be my main before the rework, I didn't like the rework as much. I barely even know the character anymore. She is still my highest level character followed by Diablo. Games have been a struggle, can't get normal 5v5 comps or some normal setup. Played 3 games til I win, and the one we win, had no impact to the game at all. I have not found a build I like more, this build seemed risky.

I LOVED sylvanas, when the game was more alive. Niw, the playstyle is too different from what i was used to.
Sylvanas' rework was good for the game, but I do miss the way she used to be played. At least she still retains what made her special after the rework.

I’m sorry but I hated the old Sylvanas. She was infuriating to play against. I was overjoyed when she was reworked and much prefer this version. She feels more balanced, has more variety in what options she has, I just enjoy playing this version more than the old and it doesn’t feel broken like that old version was. She’s less frustrating to play against. For me Sylvanas was what Garrosh, Genji, and others were like for other people. I’m glad that old broken version is gone.

Constructive criticism from a fan since HOTS as been in Beta, the stomps on your side are less entertaining than even you getting stomped in the QM queue.
Anyone else feel this year's A through Z is a tad boring? It is clear that Pallytime is putting a lot of effort into it, but to me it seems clear as well that he doesn't really enjoy this game as much anymore (and I don't blame him, it is hard to love a game that the company behind it doesn't). Compare how much he fun he has playing roguelites versus how tired he sounds when playing HotS. At least the A-Z is nearly over so he can stop putting himself through this misery.
Another total stomp. I enjoy the series but Pally playing with a premade group has made the games kind of uninteresting :(

She's not as fun now. Blizzard game devs are great at two things:
Making great games/characters and ruining great games/characters.
She was broken af before they changed her, it's ridiculous that anyone could want her to be like that. Play Azmodan or Nazeebo if you want to have as easy life in HotS now as she had when she was broken.

I’m sorry I love watching your vids but this game and pretty much all blizzard games are in the trash for me I just had the worst night trying to play hos I got disconnected so I got put into the leavers que and from then on it was just torture I mean at this point I could use those vids to sue blizzard for cyber bullying
