Yes, it's certainly possible. You could have an event that runs nightly (or hourly) that checks for things like this and emails you HOWEVER this is beyond the basics and will require a little programming (events and either a macro or some VBA). I do cover both topics in my advanced classes.

Excel lets you undo your action at will, while Access often doesn't. Excel is a worksheet application that allows more free-form, less structured action. Access is very structured from top to bottom and the user has to learn all the "rules."

Access will use whatever fonts you have installed in Windows.

I graduated recently from college and am working in a clothing factory. Especially in knitting department.
I made a huge excel table of the machines production where I save the count of produced pieces and the productivity rate and the wasted time for every machine.. I am trying to level up my work and build a data base where I can interact more with all this information and be able to analyze it so I can get better answers for alot of questions i am being asked
...now I think access might be the answer.. But I am concerned about the server thing.. Do I need a connection to the server.. Or I would be able to do it on the laptop... BTW I use around 500 rows on excel every month.. Thanks again
You dont have to use a server, you can run it from your laptop or PC

Yeah, you're right about the audio. This video is about 7 years old now and I didn't have the best microphone back then. All of my new stuff sounds pretty good though. I may re-record this one. It's one of my more popular ones.

Hi mr Richard, my name is Mike, I have a database in access, in a mask I have the search button with which I look for a data and once it finds it I display a kilometer mask, I would like to make sure that the mask is always displayed the same mode and not in print preview in order to divide the data search into 3/4 pages max. Is there any solution to this request? Thank you in advance.

I work in a mechanical construction site and every day I record a different process on each car, every day of the week I carry out a process, for example: one day I change the oil, one day I change the brakes, etc. etc., since there are so many cars in the workshop when months or years pass it happens that one of my customers comes and asks me about the work done on their car previously, then I use the search button in the database mask once I click on it, another form opens in which I enter the car number and go back to the operator who carried out the work and what was done to the car, the form generates a report for me that I view through the form and consult all the data, but it often happens that I am out of office and I connect to the server remotely via my Android smartphone with "RD CLIENT" and I access the Windows server, I open the database I search and boom I get the data but the page is kilometric and from mobile phone screen it is difficult to see all the data, that's why I was wondering if you could make a change to my database to make that report mask can be easily consulted from the display of my smartphone, and then dividing the report mask into several pages, so that the records can be read by clicking on a button that scrolls the subsequent records in a second, third and fourth page and so on, all this to consult the data quickly from my smartphone screen.
If I have not been clear if you indicate your email I can send you an example of my database and so it will be clearer.

Can I link to documents from a field? In other words, can I have a client out of my base, and access their estimate, their shipment, their invoice, they delivery and payment docs all under one screen that by clicking a radio button or link I can access those documents from one screen?

But one (big) downside of Access is that it is, and has always been, only available on Windows. Even though all other parts of MS Office like Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, etc., have always been multi-platform, Access has remained a Windows-only program. Office is written in portable code that makes multi-platform possible, so it COULD be made for other platforms if Microsoft wanted to do it, yet it never has.
You mean... there are other platforms besides PC that matter? LOL. Yeah, at least once a month I get asked by people if there is a Mac version of Access available. Or, how do I use my Android phone to use my Access database (I use a Virtual PC on Amazon Workspaces).

Yeah... she's probably not an Access person. A lot of teachers get thrown into teaching things they're not experts in. It's in the curriculum, so they have to teach it. They're probably just one lesson ahead of the class. I had a prof in college like that.

Hi there, great presentation. Are you able to have picture with your forms? Eg my business is in the vehicle industry, i want my employees able to see the vehicle when they look up a vehicle VIN# Chassis engine etc and see a picture of the vehicle, then have a drop down with more pictures of the vehicle, separate drop down for damage pictures, engine, interior etc. Also for my parts department to have pictures of the parts to confirm its the same looking one that people ask for than leaving their desk and checking all the time, and able to print or copy and past and email to a customer? Also only able to write or comment that what has been sold or needs editing till people have been trained properly before allowing privileges where they can be trusted to edit and delete pictures, parts and proper items sold live. Also does this information SYNC constantly or only if your refresh or look something up from this particular file? Thank you in advance, on to your beginners video.
