2:27 What did he expect, bringing a knife to a gun fight? Or maybe he, that is, Jekyll, subconsciously forced Hyde to hesitate with the knife. He knew he couldn't escape, and he knew that he could not take Lanyon with him. So perhaps this was his way of ending at all by giving his friend a clear shot.
Nope, it's Hyde. Hyde is unhinged. He doesn't have fear, which let him commit crimes devoid of fearing consequences. He was being senselessly violent, without caring about risks.
I like this film so much in fact that it’s one of my favorite Jekyll and Hyde films alongside Jekyll and Sister Hyde and John Barrymore’s Jekyll and Hyde.
Stevenson, Autor der Romanvorlage, war Kokain-Konsument. Es ist aber nicht klar, ob er die Wirkung des Mittels in diese Verwandlung hineinprojeziert hat
I get the idea of Dr. Jekyll's facial features changing into Mr. Hyde's, and vice versa; but his HAIR going from combed to unkempt, and then back again? A BIT harder to accept.
don't forget frankenstein, hulk was made up by stan lee's inspirations from jekyll/hyde, and frankenstein, and combined those concepts together to create hulk.
I'm gonna have too watch this movie that is actually really surprisingly well shot and good quality for it's age! Normally action scenes for me on older movies I appreciate , however aren't the smoothest. that was some pretty good glass bashing and jumping. I was super impressed when I looked Into the Sinbad movie and the skeletons, that's another movie on my list. I been watching all the old christopher lee and Peter cushing hammer films and have discovered a new love for classic horror movies. Always liked the classic Nosferatu and draculas as a kid.
It's explained in the book that the formula worked, but he took the Hyde formula so much that it damaged his genetics changing back and forth and made the anti-formula less effective over time.
@Qwerty123 Fredric March's Hyde was much scarier than Spencer Tracy's; he looked like an ape after the transformation. I know I'd hate to wake up in the middle of the night to see him leering at me. I shudder to think of it.
Unfortunately I don't buy the way he gets found out. Perhaps this is how it's in the book, but I feel as though it could've been better. Great quality and acting though.
Actually it’s different in the book. Lanyon dies from the experience of seeing the transformation but leaves a letter to be read after his death revealing the truth. Hyde commits suicide by poison (he’s lost the ingredients that caused the transformations and cannot return to Jekyll to evade capture) and remains Hyde in death.

Deeply unsettling performance from Mr. Tracy
The last words:
*-I'm Dr. Henry Jekyll*
And he always be Henry Jekyll...
I like how you can see his hair editing into various hairstyles
2:23 I want trombones like that if I ever get shot three times and fall down the stairs.
😂
Grandiose schauspieler. Ein Film. .Der zeigt wie Menschen sich verändern können. .egal wegen oder durch was..

Probably to show it was the inner evil at play. And that Dr.Jekyll was who did it, despite the duality of evil played him basically.
His hair looks like it grew quite a bit longer, too.
aaannnnd.. that's when I started to sleep on my parents bed for a year in the 80s...
Fantastic film
Su cartea este geniala
Me too I watch Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 1941 that was my favorite scary horror flim it would be great to watch on Halloween Night 🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻
And this is where they got the Incredible Hulk concept
Don’t forget Norman Osborn/Green Goblin of Spider-Man fame.
The film poster showing a two face of Tracy inspired Two Face in Batman.
don't forget frankenstein, hulk was made up by stan lee's inspirations from jekyll/hyde, and frankenstein, and combined those concepts together to create hulk.
That Gunshot sound effect took it from Tom and Jerry Cartoon 2:20
Lol
My all time favorite horror movie!!!!
Me too is one of my all-time favorite classic horror movie
2:06 Why does the Policeman disappear in the next shot?
Marco Pierre White is Mr. Hyde's doppelganger.
Horror movies today can’t compare to this!
2:11 Where did the cop go? The one that had him cornered?
2:19 The gunshots...
They sound like the sound effects used in the MGM cartoons; the slams, whaps, slaps, and of course, more gunshots.

Looks like his counter formula only turned him back temporarily

his hair brushes itself at the end there. worth literal billions
1:13 Transform become Mr Hyde
The first version 1931 last scene is way more better a lot of actions jumping around the rooms
@Qwerty123 Fredric March's Hyde was much scarier than Spencer Tracy's; he looked like an ape after the transformation. I know I'd hate to wake up in the middle of the night to see him leering at me. I shudder to think of it.
@@kevinmiller6324 I believe Fredric March also won the Oscar that year too.
1932*
@@brandonallen3289Yes for his performance in the film.
@@Nestalgba92023 you're both correct. The March Jekyll & Hyde premiered on December 31, 1931 but didn't go into nationwide release until January 1932.
This movie never got a proper reimagine from Hollywood.
It's not too late. Hopefully they make one with Russell Crowe
@@rickymay4096 They already tried that in The Mummy-reboot, that was supposed to be the foundation of a Monster-Cinematic-Universe... It tanked.
@@Angyali I know the Tom Cruise Mummy film sucked, but they could still do a stand alone/spinoff with Crowe in a Hyde only film.
I am afraid they may ruin it if it was remade today. Like a slasher movie or something. And completely misrepresenting the genius dilemma of the story
You mean: any more proper than this, right?
He said he is Henry Jekyll but nobody believer Edward Hyde is Henry Jekyll.
The role model for Jekyll/Hyde, Brodie, wasn't violent or monstrous, he was a good carpenter who made burglaries at nights
It is not a movie of Warner Bros, it is the movie of Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM)
Warner owns the current rights. Same goes with their ownership of Tom and Jerry, The Flintstones and The Jetsons.
Qe actorazoooo
Without a doubt, a superlative actor!! No special makeup, just his regular face all contorted to look evil.
The Road to El Dorado please !
My God!!!!
They killed mr hyde
Um, very good, um, fire emojis
"Is this the guy from fornite" im being sarcastic
ល្អមើណាស់

True
Porque ele se matou?não foi bem assim!
I never liked Lanyon, he snitched!!!!
One can never like a snitcher
@@seanohare5488 Yes, much better to let murderers and rapists run free.
