- An unfortunate GM exec loses control at the Detroit Grand Prix and crashes the $150,000 ZR1 Pace Car collectible. We're glad he's OK so we added some audio to lighten the mood :)

It was a GM executive driving that car. So they brought out an identical backup pace car - this time with a qualified driver Oriol Servia. This has got to be a first!

Tore up the car in the home of it's manufacturer. The funny thing is, you're supposed to take courses before you get in the Z06 or ZR1 as a GM employee.

Never seen a mustang crash as a pace car! BUT I have seen a corvette crash! camaros, Cadillacs, monte carlo, lumina and a volt burn to the ground at nascar events. What piece of shit cars!!!

C7 Z06 crashes at " the ring " C7 ZR1 crashes doing simple laps. C7 has reliability issues made top 5 list first ever for vettes. C7 is a TransAm NOT a corvette. C6 for LIFE

Rookie driver in a POS. This was bound to happen.
I had a 2001 C5. Horrible chassis and balance. C6 and C7 are the same cars underneath. A flawed design. Will spin out just like the video if you aren't a professional driver. Sold it for a mini cooper that you can drive like The Italian Job and never lose control.

Did he have the car's traction control turned off, or did it fail? Either way he comes off looking way, way less than qualified to be driving the pace car.

you do have to program it first. when they punched in '755' for the power rating, the bullshit detector kicked in and rejected it

That would have happened even with a PORSCHE. If you leave steering in like that and throttle hard, you will get over steer. It will hook just like the corvette did.
