- Joseph Decosimo (old-time fiddle) and Luke Richardson (old-time two finger banjo) play Lexington, a piece learned from Omer Forster and Houston Daniel. This Old-time banjo and fiddle duet comes from a rich repertoire of Tennessee tunes. Luke captures the essence of Forster's elaborate two-finger banjo picking. The tune can be heard on their band the Bucking Mules album "Smoke Behind the Clouds," released on the Free Dirt label in 2017. The album is linked below.

filmed in Sorrento, BC the home of the incredible NimbleFingers Bluegrass and Old-time Festival and Workshop. We had the opportunity to perform at their wonderful festival and lead banjo, fiddle, and stringband workshops. It's worth checking it out if you're into this kind of music.

I could loop this all day. Wonderful stuff guys
Blows my mind that people on social media get rich and famous over stupid and talentless shit... you gentlemen, deserve a grand following because of your conduct and talent 👏 bravo
Thanks. We do love the music and hope that that comes through.
@@JosephDecosimo it will, keep producing I'll share this around
In the UK this tune is known as "Too Young to Marry". The tune is also used for Robert Burns' s "My Love is But a Lassie Yet"
That's interesting. I'll have to listen to a setting of the Burns piece. I guess it carries several names in the Southeastern US. On the Omer Forster album that we learned this version from, he recorded it in a different key and called it "Love Somebody." I've heard other friends in Tennessee call it "Chinquapin." I guess Babe Spangler over in Virginia called it "Midnight Serenade." A veritable proliferation of names!
@@JosephDecosimo Joe I see that Walt Koken and Claire have a clip here on YT under the title "Too Young to Marry".
Exellent nice, remember there was an italian miners group generally from Piemont and Liguria, north west italy, in the Appalachian mounts. Like the singer Mattea, and I see one great Decosimo here, very very nice.
I love this tune and the way you both play it. It’s got me reading about and listening to Omer Forster and Houston Daniel, and I’m loving what I’m hearing.
Beautiful music fellas
Thanks!

Nicely done. That looks like a Bonefaas banjo..rarely seen, always good.
yes, that is a Bonefaas. Luke made it sound fantastic.
@@JosephDecosimo Hello Joseph. Johannes made me a Bonefaas classic 12" over here in Europe. He's a good bloke and makes great banjos.
Always enjoy your playing, be it on banjo or fiddle, solo or band. regards from Paul.
Great stuff
I love this so much!
Very nice job fellas!! That banjos tone complimented that fiddle so well, and the fiddle playing was so smooth! Y’all have an album out? I’d love to have some to spin when I have git togethers here at the house.
Thanks a ton! Luke's a killer banjo player and a blast to play with. I put a link to our band's album in the description of the video above. I think it will pair well with git togethers!
What is fiddle tuning?
It's in cross tuning (AEAE) very low.
