Great review! Looks like I'm going to have to add another Hoka to my arsenal. Looks absolutely perfect for use as a hiker and downhill fastpacking. And like you said, if you just use this for your long verty mountain adventures, it will last forever.
@@ericperramond3463 I've had good luck with the Trabuco Max 2s (on my 2nd pair), and had planned to use them at Laurel instead of my Mafate speed 4s. I haven't bought the Max 3s, because the outsole appears to be the same as the 2s. If Asics put more aggressive lugs on that shoe........
Do you mean the shoes on the shelf up high? Those are these; the Skyline Float X. The the ones on the shoe rack below the edge of the table are the Mafate Speed 4.
It's funny to me that people (myself included) are spending hundreds of dollars on shoes (Consuming with a capital C) and trying to rid ourselves of cognitive dissonance through recycling/natural materials marketing wank. If they are great shoes, I'll buy them, I really don't care what they make them out of. I have a ton of Hoka shoes that I love (they're my favorite brand actually), but I also get 200g of protein a day and lift 6 days a week, so I'm probably not their target audience!
I think with Hoka they aren’t trying to target a vegan audience, but clearly label it on their site for people that want a vegan product. I’m plant based, but I don’t personally care if something is made with a castor oil based, or soy bean this… idc lol. I’m like you, if the shoe works well, I will want it!

Definitely! Thanks, Steve!
Great show! I have the same shirt, did the 50K.
Me too. Great race!
I like these. Will double my meat intake for 2 weeks to compensate.
🤣 😝
They need to colab this shoe with Deena Kastor and say it's made with "Kastor oil."
LOL I can always count on a good pun from you Mandy!
Good review Steven. What do you think about this shoe as an option for running Laurel Highlands 70 miler? Too heavy?
Thanks! Personally I think it’s too heavy for that, unless someone was trying to hike the whole thing.
(whispers Trabuco Max 2 or 3 is your friend for Laurel....)

thank u very much steven
Like my Hoka Skyline Float X's However ,the laces absolutely suck! Always coming undone and shoes always seem loose.
Oh no! Hopefully you found some laces you like!
Is this good for street running too since its a hybrid?
I mean it would work, but it’s quite heavy for that.
@@UltraTrailSteven I saw the onitsuka runger posted online. Can you do a review on that thank you.
If only I could find this shoe in that color. Seems to be completly extinct here in europe.
Bummer!
Loosely based on a Vegan Cafe menu
Lmao
