We decided to do a stealth camping gas station outing tonight, as we found a nice takeaway we wanted to try, which was handily located near to the gas station. This was a perfect night for a bit of stealth car camping too! We were planning to do this stealth camping gas station trip a few weeks ago but we had to abandon it because we noticed there were parking cameras in the gas station which read registration plates - a definite no go!
The urban stealth camping van / stealth camping minivan we use is a Ford Grand Tourneo Connect (long wheel base version for extra sleeping space). We removed the rear 2 seats so the car became a 5 seater, and I'm able to to transport the my boot jump camper conversion kit around while still retaining 5 seats whenever I need them. I added some reflective privacy blinds (the link for these is below, or in my free urban stealth camping van plans which you can download) and some basic curtains to turn it into a stealth camper van conversion which I use for urban stealth car camping whenever I can. It's great for stealth car camping.
My DIY micro camper build is basically a homemade boot jump conversion kit, and I based it roughly on the Amdro boot jump (which costs around £2500) - I built my own urban stealth camping van for a fraction of the cost, so I could do urban car stealth camping whenever I feel like.
You can download the plans and detailed photos for my micro camper boot jump conversion / city stealth van completely free here: bit.ly/3lgi6iJ
I'm pretty new to this urban stealth car camping stuff so I would love to hear your suggestions to improve my stealth camping minivan - feel free to leave me a comment! I also hope my channel gives you some ideas for your own self build micro camper using a boot jump conversion kit.
Hope you enjoyed this stealth camping gas station video - feel free to show your appreciation by subbing, leaving a nice comment, or clicking the like button. If you really love the video, you can buy me a coffee (link above). Thanks for watching!!

Do more of these video please, love the video buddy keep it going
Nice stealth camp Sir, can you let Regan know that I like Guinness 🤣🤣. You definitely need to look at an extractor fan brother and a vent to let the air draw in, that way you can be secure and have your windows closed, So easy to wrench down when theres a gap. How about a Police station car park? I’m toying with the idea on my channel. Keep it stealth
Thanks Steve! I will check out the extractor fans, I defo need something! I have a police station camp on my list, problem is that it's pretty hard to park close to most of them because of restrictions and double yellows...but I think I might have found 1 candidate that I need to recce...hopefully it works out 😬😄
Ah the start of this weeks uploads from across YT land begins 😃
Great video guys! That burger looked the biz!
Thanks! I might have to go back and camp there again just for the burger 😄
Aaahh… I miss road noise 😌. Try cutting your ear plugs in half… they’re less likely to fall out. I use them more now that I’m in bricks and mortar, than I did when I was in my van 😳.
That burger looked good 👍 but I’m a wimp with hot food 😀
Good idea on the earplugs, I won't bin them yet, thank you!
love this video keep it coming
Thanks! Will do! 🙂
Great video
Thank you, really enjoyed making this one!
I love this... Going for one... Still preparing
It was great fun! Hope you get to go! 👍
The Greek restaurant there is decent - might try a little stealth camp while I’m at it 🙂
I saw that, it looked great, I found out after I posted this that my brother has been in there and recommends it too! Definitely one to check out, and lots of parking if you can put up with the traffic.
Great video , chicken looked good 😋 I have a problem where I live finding busy places to camp
Thanks! You do look like you're 'in the sticks' there as we say! 🙂
Food Coma, I always eat too much lol.
alright mate have you tried the sarasans head pub in halsall ,next to the canal ,you can park up in the car park at the back and theres no signs to say you cant stay over night..just thought id give you a shout..take care and keep the good work up
Hi Dave, bloody hell I've been driving around the Ormskirk area for years and I've never even noticed that pub...and I like my pubs 😄Looks like a top spot mate, also bet that's a top place for a beer. I shall check this out when I'm passing. Appreciate the tip, nice one 👌
@@ManontheOutside no probs mate
Great video, seen you in my recommendations , subbed.
Be great to see winter stealth camps and how you guys stay warm etc
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! I am thinking hot water bottles and sleeping bags at the moment, but I welcome any suggestions 🙂 A couple of people suggested a diesel heater but I don't particularly want to modify the car in any way, I prefer to keep everything removable and non-permanent.
Great stuff, at least you didn't get any unwanted attention (lay by frolics lol).
Ventilation is tricky if you want stealth. Every vehicle has the dashboard vents that feed air in and usually another ventilation system that feeds the air out. That's the one you need to find. Jerry rig some 12v cpu fans to that system and have the heater control on fresh air as opposed to recirculation, technically it should work.
Thanks, good advice, I've just been looking at a similar setup on another camper actually and it looks to work quite well. I will have a nosey see if I can work out where the vents are.
Did you have any issues after forgetting to put the filler cap back on ?
It doesn't have a filler cap, it uses Ford's Easy Fuel capless refuelling system, so no caps, and impossible to mix fuels up. Really good feature!
Earhub Sleepwell silicone earplugs (about a fiver for 3 pairs in asda) are pretty dang good cause they mold to your ear. they feel strange at first but they work. love the content
Those look super, thank you! Gonna buy a few different styles to see what suits!
cotton wool makes the best earplugs... like your videos!
Thanks! Good idea on the cotton wool, the ones I bought are rubbish 😄
@@ManontheOutside having noisy neighbours i tried many, and eventually found that cotton wool works best, they are effective, cheap and you can make new ones every time, even partly fill up your auricle/concha if its really noisy. Really enjoy your videos, foccusing on being stealthy is interesting to watch, also like the cosy scenes inside the van, keep them coming !
Howard Lieght Max ear plugs.
Thank you, those look great! Have ordered a few pairs to try out.
Hi guys great video, I can't believe your girl went to work after barely sleeping. Soldier mate. In regards to the ventilation I don't think you need to go full whack on a fan. Have a look at the kartcher window vac, it's a portable vacuum you can use for condensation. It's quite popular among the #vanlifers 🤙
Thanks! I think she got more sleep than me to be fair. 😄 Good suggestion on the window vac, I heard Aldi have got them on sale at the mo so I will pop in later to have a nosey. Thanks!
@@ManontheOutside no worries 🤙 good to hear she got at least some beauty sleep. ☺️
You know how you keep popping up every time the cops come flying by with the Sirens? If I do that where I'm at right now my phone will be out of storage by morning.
I guess you're near to the cop station too? 😄I'm too nosey! Plus it makes great footage 😄
@@ManontheOutside lol nahh this city is just too busy. Lots of crime, accidents, and stuff happening.
Great! Steamy Windows by Tina Turner :) Do You have any heating and do You have any insulation on the metal surfaces? We added an adjustable fan in the roof. The cars own ebersprecher heater only heats 30 min at a time so its quite useless during the night. We have less windows because it's a cargo van. i added sound proofing and 5 cm ewona wool, this made quite a difference! greetings from Finland: Aki
Hello, greetings from the UK! We don't have heating and insulation at all as I need to keep the van as an MPV, so don't want to make any permanent modifications to it. So I guess the lack of heating isn't going to help the condensation at all. But I am thinking of an roof fan as I think that's not really a major change, hopefully that will help a bit!
Great episode as usual. Not sure if it works as I haven't been able to try it but we bought a little usb fan and one of those phone power banks, was going to try and leave that plugged in over night aimed at the window to try and vent the air. Van broke down though so haven't been able to test it :(
Thanks, I will have a nosey, a USB fan might work. I think I've seen something like that before. Bad news on the van 😬I hope you get it fixed soon and it's not too costly!
When's the next vid coming out?
@@spotfist5056 just checking out a spot at the moment, so this weekend if all goes well and I don't injure my back again 🙃
Great video as ever. How do you do you time lapse?
Thanks Nick! Some cameras have a time lapse mode on them, I think my GoPro has it on, so you can either use that, or sometimes I just leave the camera running normally then speed up the footage in my editing software (I use Camtasia, but I would guess most editing software has a speed up/slow down feature)
You forget you gas cap
Ford Easy-Fuel - no fuel cap! Very clever system 😄
