I've been struggling for quite some time to resolve an issue with my pincone settings. Then, out of the blue, I stumbled upon your video and it perfectly solved my problem with its detailed explanation. I truly appreciate your help and I'm certainly going to subscribe to your channel. Thanks so much!!
That's awesome! Glad I could help 👍
Thanks for making this tutorial. It was packed with great tips for installation, manual mode, getting help, working with different media types, and working with plug-ins. I’m grateful that you shared what you’ve learned. Cheers!
Wow, thank you for the feedback and Super! 🙏🤗
You are a champion!!!
All the other guides directed me to the various terminals with endless commands.
As someone who does not really master the subject, it was very complicated.
Pressing "RUN" saved all the tedious fiddling.
Thank you.
You're welcome 🤗.
I love all of your videos! Definitely subscribing. It's been an amazing help working around a lot of the new developments that this field is having right now, especially considering a lot of your videos are aligned with a lot of the things I'm trying to do and need to use. Thank you for taking the time to make these It's extremely helpful 🙏
Thank you for the incredible feedback! Always nice to meet people with the same interest.
Best explanation on the web! Thanks for providing in-depth information on using Auto after it is installed.
Thanks for the compliment. Glad I could help.
Great job giving clear and concise instructions. Thanks for taking the time to help us out.
Just glad I could help 👍
I had to watch the next video too :)
Absolutely great video my man!! I have been dying to try to figure out how these plugins work I want Chrome GPT I want Wikipedia on and on but I've spent hour after hour trying to get it all figured out I'm blind so it's hard lol your video has helped me a lot thank you :-)
Thank you very much for the great feedback 🤗
Amazing! Been using chatGPT and paying for plus for months and I’m barely finding out about autogpt!!
Thanks so much
You're welcome 🤗
Easiest and detailed video, I have seen on Autogpt topic.
Thank you!
Excellent tutorial! Best one I've seen so far by a substantial margin
Thank you 🙏
Agreed! Can't believe I've never seen anybody run the .bat file till now
I know, right? 😊
I make an effort to understand the developer's intent behind these project files.
@Leon van Zyl btw whenever I run it, it tell me I don't have access to gpt 4 so it switches to 3.5, however. I already have chatgpt plus. Have you run into a similar issue or know how to solve it?
@@krystobee4454 Same here! I've playing with AutoGPT for a few days, but haven't had much success so far. The "gpt-4 is not a module name" (or something like that) is just one of the issues I've run into
Thanks for making this tutorial it is impressive and insightful enough to start working with autogpt .could you cover in future videos "how to create custom plugin that would be great!".
Glad I could help 👍.
Excellent video, thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
Very informativ! keep going and thanks for the help!
Thank you very much 🙏
Thank you!!! This was very informative.
You're welcome 🤗
Great video! I did have to install Git to get the dependencies to load, though.
Thanks for letting us know. I'm sure other people would have the same issue.
Really helpful tutorial thanks. Would love you to go through how to effectively feed AutoGPT pdf files, parse them and summarize/analyse etc.
Thank you. Will see if I can create a video on it 😁
this one is a cut above the rest. thank you !! can you help me understand how to make autogpt much more useful by connecting it to google workspace / drive, and connector apps like zapier. also , if i gave autogpt my hotel points login or miles login , can i ask it to book a ticket etc. Basically can it connect to my chrome / use passwords and profiles i give to it and perform tasks behind the password wall on some of my online accounts
Excellent!!
Thank you!
Thanks for uploading it, I was just wondering how to install it locally 👏
Edit - Successfully Installed and its working👍
But there are a lot of fun setting in the .env file can you show how to enable or disable them?
Glad my video could help you out 😁.
I cover some of the main .env features in the Configuration section of the video, so check those out 👍. The file is growing all the time as AGPT is being developed, so please let me know if there is a specific feature that I should cover and I'll gladly look into it 🤗.
@@leonvanzyl Thanks for responding, I just have a doubt, on top of .env file there is a setting RESTRICTED TO WORKSPACE and by default it is TRUE and I want to change it to false so in order to make it work do I also have to uncomment that line?
watched every minute of it bro. got autogpt up and running for both local and agentgpt, thank you. Now I am wondering how to connect with plugins such as canva and capcut to make social media content posts of a comic book I am creating, would also be cool if I could automate Image building ai to build the images that eventually another api creates videos.
Thank David.
Sounds like an awesome idea - I haven't tried integrating these bots with Canva...
The best autogpt video ive found so far! But i have a question, in memory i dont have pinecone_api_key nor pinecone_env, all i have is REDIS things below those memory backend lines, and they werent even the same, the backends says :MEMORY_BACKEND=json_file and the other MEMORY_INDEX=auto-gpt-memory. Would be glad if you help me a bit
Thank you!
Thank you
Enjoy 😁
Stupendous video, TYSM! Liked & Subscribed. Can you tell me what's the big deal with the Docker install? I did all that, but it seems to make thinks a little harder to work with compared to the local method you demonstrated. I'm not planning on using it outside of my system or across platforms. I'm on Windows and I'm not leaving it unattended. Is the local method safe?
You're welcome!
Docker is definitely a good option as well, but I found that my method is easier for non-Developers.
Thanks!
Thank you very much! Your support really helps a lot!
this video is excellent, pregnant with value!
Thank you!
THANK YOU
You're welcome 😁
awesome video
Thank you 🙏
Do you think you could do a short install video/information vidoe about GPT- Enginer?
Thank you for the suggestion. I'll look into it 👍
Hey Leon, is there a way to clean all this up? i.e. the responses are great, sometimes not, but as it's continuous running character response. is there a way to make it more like a list, or dot point, heading style view?? excuse my ignorance.
thanks so much for you Video as it helped set it up perfectly.
And/or i feel like the best response might be copy the text and convert to a document of some kind?
Glad you liked the video 😁.
That is a really good question. I've personally only seen basic output being produced with very little formatting.
You could always try and ask AGPT to output the results in a certain way and see if that makes a difference?
@@leonvanzyl thanks for the suggestion Leon. I will try that out.
I just wanted to know if there any updates made since this video was uploaded so that I can start with the integration process accordingly.
Installation and usage is still the same.
hi! great tutorial! i want to test, but auto-gpt sais "The JSON object is invalid." - how to fix this? do you can help?
i updated chrome. now it works. :-----------) #sorry
Thanks for making this. I got to the run.bat bit, but when I open that, it doesn't install everything as you say, it asks me to press any key to continue after this error message, "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'jsonschema'" then the window closes as soon as I press any key. Any suggestions? Cheers
You could try to pip install that package yourself?
Thanks alot for this guide! It was very usefull!
I have a problem when using autogpt, when it try to acces google to complete a task, it always fail and this is what it write:
SYSTEM: Command google returned: Error: 'NoneType' object is not iterable
do you know why this happens and how i can fix it?
Thank you for the feedback.
Haven't come across that error myself, but will let you know if I come across a solution 👍👍
@@leonvanzyl Thank you!
Hey leon what you have to say about auto gen
Seems really cool. From my understanding, it's similar to Langchain. It's on my backlog though and will cover it in the near future.
7:29 I created the api key and pasted it into notepad but when i run it, its not installing
Are you getting an error message? Do you have more info?
I can’t get out the gate with error code [WinError 2] “the system cannot find the file specified while executing command git version. Do you have ‘git’ installed and in your PATH? Can someone please help ?
Please ensure that you have Git installed on your machine.

Thanks again for another epic video Leon! Watched the full thing and got it set up, super helpful 🙌Quick question: I'm trying to figure out the AutoGPT node on Flowise, but after watching this tutorial and more I'm still running into troubles -- namely how to manage the input/goals for AutoGPT, and where to find the output file. Do you know how that node works on Flowise? Side note: I emailed Henry/the Flowise team to let them know your tutorials have been the most helpful of all on YT :)
Hey Malekai,
Thank you for reaching out to Henry and the incredible feedback 🙏.
I haven't honestly spent much time looking into using AGPT with Flowise, as I couldn't come up with a good use-case for it. Any ideas?
Hey Leon - No worries of course and good to know your perspective! Yeah seems that since AGPT is already connected to the internet, it the main extra tool covered. Perhaps if you wanted it to reference a VectorDB as well using it with Flowise could be handy.
That said, I haven't seen many high-value use cases for AGPT. I feel like AGPT is solid for basic tasks (i.e. find me a good Italian restaurant in NYC), but when tasks get more advanced, individually writing out each subsequent prompt is more effective. Just my experience though
How do you update AutoGPT latest releases? Also, when each task is completed and this prompt appears:
Desktop\3-AutoGPT>
How do you start a new Agent without closing and re-open the whole screen?
In the command prompt, navigate to the autogpt folder and run the command: GIT PULL
That will download the latest version of AGPT.
To stop the current agent, press CTRL + C. No need to close the prompt window.
Thank you so much!!! This has been so helpful.
@@leonvanzyl when I press Ctrl + c it just returns back to the same prompt - \Auto-GPT> ^c
When I run auto-gpt I get a warning that don’t have gpt-4 access. How do I fix this
Hi Muath, you need to join the waitlist on the OpenAI website.
Can I download a file generated by agent gpt?
I believe that AgentGPT only writes the output to the browser (chat window) and cannot create files like GODMODE.
I might be missing something. Maybe someone could correct me in the comments?
Hello! Thanks for the video. When running the file run.bat there comes up a message in the windows/system32 file that says " ERROR: Error [WinError 2] The system cannot find the specified file (in Spanish El sistema no puede encontrar el archivo especificado) while executing command git version
ERROR: Cannot find command 'git' - do you have 'git' installed and in your PATH?"
How do I install the git in my path? Many thanks
When installing python, ensure that you tick ADD TO PATH before continuing with installation.
Rewatch the prerequisite part of the video 😊
I had ticked it. Anyway, to rerun the process, I have uninstalled python, deleted all the files, restarted my PC, downloaded python again, and autoGPT files. I have ticked the ADD TO PATH, but the same message comes up in red in the system32 folder when running run.bat.
Besides from that, now there is a WARNING that says: "You are using pip version 21.2.3; however, version 23.2 is available.
You should consider upgrading via the 'C:\Users\hilod\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python310\python.exe -m pip install --upgrade pip' command."
Also below, it says: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'dotenv'
I don't know if any of these might have something to do with it. What can it be? Thanks for the help
@@cinevivo same problem here. do you find solution?
@@AleksandarJovanovic31071980 Hi Alexsandar. Not yet. I can see in the comments that it's working for a lot of people. So I don't know what the issue could be with us. Sorry!
@@cinevivo i download git and it works fine 👍
I set everything up successfully. But it will only authenticate me to GPT 3.5 when I have a GPT-4 Plus subscription. "WARNING: You do not have access to gpt-4-0314. Setting smart_llm to gpt-3.5-turbo." Is anyone else having this issue?
I think you need to load a credit card on platform.openai.com. It's seperate to ChatGPT Plus.
having trouble with a dotenv not found error, can I get an help?
Sounds like some dependencies were not installed? You could run npm install, and npm install dotenv to see if it helps.
just installed , Ill recheck, thank you
Why does it say API budget: infinite ?
It still has ways to go thank God...I asked it to build a synth wave themed single page layout with React...and it did the research..and actually went into buildin gthe file...but then it started to get stuck and keep asking me did I want to continue..and I pressed yes...and it kept going. Finally I asked it to write the site in another way beside use of Python..and then it just freaked out and stopped thinking...
The human race is fine for now 😁
Would Dicker work as my VS Code?
Docker is a great way to run AGPT 👍
@@leonvanzyl ok thanks, can you give me a video link on how to set it up, please.
Now, if we could only use a local instance or networked instance of Llama instead of chat gpt APIs we’d be set!
yes, as you said Auto-GPT can be dangerous for your PC. I had to reinstall windows because it changed a lot othing in my system. I am not sure that I will use it again
That's just horrible.
I haven't seen any other videos mention the dangers of running AGPT in continuous mode, hence I place an emphasis on this aspect.
Manual mode has definitely been the safest option for me.
🤣 This is taking a dark turn.
Bro, you didn’t run in docker???
@@teonanacatyl docker ?
@@ecomfeed bro, you’ve got to run this in a virtual environment or some kind of container like docker so it’s scope is limited… it’s like AutoGPT in “guest mode”. If you give a 7yo carte blanche to your system, they’re probably going to do some wild stuff while they’re figuring things out… anyways, best of luck.
I did the same jokes question but with a relationship spin and got just about the same jokes as your results .. 2 were different lol
No way! Hahahaha!
@@leonvanzyl super video .. thank you .. really !!
Yeah, I think it changed again...I am having issues getting it up. Says my pip or Pythion 3 is not there..but I know it is.
You might need to reinstall Python and ensure that your path variables are set up correctly. Not really an AGPT issue, but you should be able to find a solution on Google.
@@leonvanzylYeah thats what I was thinking also. I also wonder if the version I have is too new. I just downloaded the most recent 3.11 python
Hi Leon! I did everything step by step but I get the below error. When I hit the key it closes the windows cmd window. I dont get the Auto-GPT prompt??
TypeError: issubclass() arg 1 must be a class
Press any key to continue . . .
Any ideas?
Hmm.. haven't seen that yet. Will see if I can find anything on that error.
the image one is funny, i tried the same thing to see what happen, the .py file is so it can make a script than it will end up just downloading a image from online using that script to download the image
It usually does that when the Image provider is not set up correctly.
@@leonvanzyl yeah i did it on purpose, just testing its limitations in a VM :) and seeing the way it thinks etc
it was such a mess to get install autogpt and all dependecies I've finally resigned and will try another time...
What did you struggle with? Maybe we can help?
@@leonvanzyl a lot of modules that can't install... I've tried the pip -r instructions.txt, but that also halts on some python stuff, eve though I have required by installed :(
I get into loops every single time. It always ends up writing python scripts to scrape webpages.
Hey @joecooper18 . That usually just means that the settings for SERP is not set up correctly in the .env file.
AGPT is still experimental though, so bugs like this is very likely.

Sadly this video is also already out of date with how AutoGPT works, so no longer the ultimate guide. Read the manual is bet way.
Things move fast in this space 😁.
I'll create an updated video soon. Any suggestions of what you'd like to see in the update?
Way too long to not have section headers.
Thanks Miles. Strange, I added chapters to the video. I'm having a look at what the issue could be..
Oh I see. Watching on my phone so description is hidden.
@@myleshungerford7784 thanks for bringing this to my attention. It was an invalid character in timestamps. Chapters should show up on the timeline now on your phone.

Yeah, AutoGPT really changed A LOT.
Might have to create an updated tutorial.
Thanks!
