  • A 5 hour walk through Moydamlaght Forest to Eagles Rock and the summit of Mullaghmore Mountain in the Sperrins (N. Ireland's largest mountain range). Starting before sunrise had me finished in time for lunch. The walk was during a sustained cold spell and the mountain was frozen solid with some snow high up. Filmed on the GoPro Hero 9.

    The cold icey roads are a nightmare 😫 well done on dodging that! Love the crunch crunch sound and the colour of the ice in the sky behind you ❄️ 🏔 these views, wow and always nice to have a bench to admire them from too 🥰
    A might impressive cliff line and sunrise, wow again 👏
    Hope the DIY works on your camera, the Hero9 has been a headache for me, the Endro Battery has helped with cold crashes tho! 🔋
    Loved this Gerry, great footage, editing and cinematography as always 😀
    The snow showers on the horizon looked ominous 😬 ❄️
    The frozen falls were great to see 👀 🧊
    An ideal walk and well timed too 👍

      Cheers Ceri & Kat👍 There are only certain hills that I can safely get to in that weather and this is one of them (there is a school nearby so the roads are salted😊). It was a beautiful day to be out walking and to be up there in the snow and ice with those views was pretty cool😊 I hope the DIY works too. Have a great Christmas yourselves🎄🎅🏼

    Beautiful Gerry 👌 An area I've walked in and cycled both and it is even more lovely in the snow. The clarity of air and the definition of the hills in the distance due to the snow cover was amazing. I'd say the Sperrins are a better place for a wee bit of frost, hardens up the boggy ground ❄

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  Рік тому +1

      Cheers Niall👍 I find that the Sperrins can be pure white with snow and somewhere further east like the Mournes will have no snow at all. They are such a large area and in the right place (like Donegal) to catch many of the snow showers that come in on a NW or N wind. I could see the white tops of the Derryveaghs and the Bluestacks clearly with the clear air on the northerly breeze❄️😊 A grand place for walking or cycling👍

    Beautiful to start off with the sound of 'crunch crunch' gerry. I must say it is indeed a decent go to mountain there. I imagined with the views not far away the very same or similar winter throughout the ages. The ancient Sperrins with great ice waterfalls. Of course the temperature will drop in the night so it would be interesting to see it at 5 AM. No doubt fully frozen! Ah, buggers - they just throw that litter out of the window. Good on you though for the cleanup. Well, that was a good 5 hours bench views and all. Have a great weekend ahead. Mark

    Great stuff Gerry - lovely to see the snow and how white it looked against the blue sky! I was in Wicklow last weekend and managed to get far enough in to climb Knocknagun, no ones footprints but my own which was a lovely feeling and it looked like that for you on this walk at times. I arrived back to my car and my car key battery had died from the cold 🤭The poor GoPros really do suffer, I haven’t had mine out in cold weather yet, so you’ve reminded me of those challenges. Fab to see the snow and the accompanying sunshine revealing the great views of the Sperrins and beyond 😎 As a fellow 4 day weeker - how lucky are we!!

      @gerrymcveigh  Рік тому +1

      Cheers Miriam👍 I went down to 4 days a week earlier this year (with a pay cut) and wouldn't dream of going back😊 There are a couple of hills in the Sperrins that I can get to in snow and they are the go to places. I used to look at them covered in snow from afar when I was young and it is pretty cool that I can now be up there walking in the snow. The battery in the 9 is great in warmer conditions but it really struggled in the cold.

    Great video Gerry and lovely walk that one. I have good memories from doing it early last year and having ~ 2 feet of snow at the top. Moydamlaght forest is so tranquil in the snow, especially when the sun comes out and you can hear the patter of melting ice.
