LOL I am a retired mechanic, I can't count the times I looked at a large dirty job and the spirit just floated away. Later I checked my bank account and the number of bills due, It was like a miracle . The spirit had reappeared to do that very job.
Fear not, being thrown off your rhythm just means that life happened to you. Ups and downs twists and turns, that's how it goes and that's a rhythm unto itself. As a farmer you know this more than most. Just keep plugging away and we'll be here cheering you on.
I'm a retired hospice nurse. It's amazing how we can put ourselves through so much dealing with others and forget to take care of ourselves. Specifically, being in the middle of the response effort was your job and now that the rush is over your subconscious mind is wanting to process what you've just been through before you get back into your full normal routine. I've experienced this same thing many times and wondered what's wrong with me. Nothing. Just needed to take some time, as necessary, for little mental health breaks to let myself recover from the incredibly stressful events I pushed myself through. Not fighting that healing helps to more effectively get back to whatever normal is. May God be with you in those times of rest and recovery and restore you. You are a blessing to many, remember to take care of yourself. ✌️
Thank you for putting in the effort even when you don't feel like it to entertain people like me. I know I am a faceless name, but I do get joy from watching what you do and learning about life out East.
I don't comment on many channels videos but felt the pull to comment on this one. While I have been watching only a short time I have seen the "mood" of your video's change. And that change came about after the storm. It's almost as if you have "survivor" guilt....a bit of ptsd so to speak. Something like that horrific storm....the loss, the grief, the desperation can make someone look "inside" a whole lot. Yes, you ARE blessed. You have a beautiful home, land, animals, a way to earn an income, food, safety. Those you saw had none of that. Whether you see that or not it affected you.....deeply. Yes, you did your job and you were happy to do it....but what you saw and heard has left a lasting impression on you. Faith...you have that...lean on that. Feel that blessing and send that out into the world and others will feel it too. There is so much to be saddened by in this world today but also so much to be grateful for. You have a "platform" to send that peace and faith to others (and you are so good at it)....use it. Take some time for yourself, your wife and family and come back when you're ready to. You'll be stronger for it and that strength will flow down to others. Peace and blessings my friend..... keeping you and yours in my prayers.
@OzarkMel, you said it beautifully. Hang in there Chuck, you'll get your groove back and both you and Saundra, (aka. Whistlebritches 😁) will get through this ordeal. Praying for everyone in NC and Appalachia. -- Susan
Thank you for sharing your videos! I’ve been watching for about 5 years! I don’t always comment but I watch every video! You take me back to my childhood! Thanks Chuck! We all get in a funk!! Prayers for you guys!!
Thank YALL for inspiring me to keep moving forward to get my farm started!! I get discouraged often and God puts y’all in I’m life to keep me encouraged!! I love y’all my brother and sister!!
My wife and I are fairly new to your channel but we appreciate your approach to the farm lifestyle as well as your Christian spirit. Blessings to you both.
When you're trying to get Logs out of the woods, if the ground is a bit too steep for comfort, you could hook up a chain to the bucket and drag the log to a safer area to grab.
I watch because of you work ethic and your faith. I have learned so much from you and your beautiful wife. I enjoy the scenery and your animals. And I learned something new about farming that I may never use but it’s always good to keep learning. I follow another channel and he was spraying painting fence posts and jokingly said that he was making us watch paint dry. lol. Chuck you film 🎥 it and I will watch it. God bless you and Sandra aka whistle britches. Ps. I have a prayer list and you and your family and your farm are always in my prayers. 🙋🏻♀️❤️🇺🇸
Good afternoon. You can hold your logs over your dump trailer and cut them up. Then move them to the splitter and role them out the back onto the splitter without any back break work. Love you watching you and your wife.
Great scenery in this video, I love the colors of fall. My husband worked night shifts in a cold, dark mill for years. Even though he was able to catch a catnap here and there he still says night shift is not good on your body or your head. He doesn’t think it’s humane at all. Give yourself some time to reset those inner clocks and rhythms. And until then, we’ll watch whatever you film whenever you produce it. God bless you and Whistlebritches.
I can relate even with my small UA-cam channel. Sometimes it’s just challenging to get the video “want to” juices flowing. “Keep on Keeping on!” Tim in northern TN
Chuck I get it. Don’t feel bad about it. That feeling is to be expected given all you have to do and all you and Saundra have been through recently. What we do takes physical and mental stamina mind body and soul. 🙏🏽❤️💯
Ever thought of getting a big (6-ton+) grain bin and have feed bulk delivered, if that is an option? I have seen UA-cam videos where people claim to have saved $200-$300 per ton, if you can imagine. I am not sure how much a grain bin costs but you are good at sharing the math/science on feasibility. I do like how you get the palletized tyvek totes. Curious what the mark-up is on the totes, $40-$100 maybe? But, hey, in the end… it is whatever you feel comfortable with. It is easy for me to sit back and comment while you are doing all of the work. I really appreciate your videos and I am constantly learning different things to employ when I re-start my family farm, once i can afford to leave the city and make it a full-time part of my daily routine.
I don’t have a good way for a big truck to get in and out or a place to put the bin to fill it. We get a good deal on the totes from our supplier so it’s not a crazy expense. Thanks for watching.
I have a Kubota U55-5 which is similar to yours. And I have about 27 grease certs, and I personally use about 1½ tubes of grease every other full day that full day of use. 😎🤙
Worked for a machine tool company for 20 years. I didn’t actually work in the warehouse… but darn near every time I wore a pretty new white blouse… sure enough the will call/sales counter would get swamped with customers trying to get in n out quick on their lunch hour. So there we’d be… some of us office gnomes would swarm the counter to help out… and sure enough I’d touch a bunch of things coated in the cosmoline.. and of course it would get on my chest… and another white blouse would be history cuz that stuff does NOT wash out.
Totally understandable. I don't know how you keep up with all the work and doing videos about it! LOL We could never hold anything against you concerning the life you so graciously share with us regularly. You do you. We'll be good with it. LOL I'm just thrilled to know some of my favorite farm friends in your area are OK and not devastated by the storm. ❤❤❤
You guys really use patreon the right way never gatekeep the main content but just add the extra stuff on there witch is the right way, just wanna say thanks for that so many creators hide the main content behind a paywall 💫💫
I can completely relate to the mental blocks. I haven’t been at it for as long as you yet but I’ve been there a few times when I try to hit it too hard. Probably more burn out to be honest. I’ve had to really focus on the pace at which I create & how many brands I work with at once so I don’t get that overwhelmed feeling & start pushing too hard. The video flowed ok brother! Keep it up!
You might consider putting a bunch of your log rounds (whatever you call that first rounded part you cut off a log) out in your log yard to use as dunnage to keep your logs out of the dirt. Let those rounds absorb the moisture dirt from the yard instead of the logs your gonna cut.
No matter what, even working at a medical station dealing with a master disaster, takes it out of you. It’s not surprising at all that you had a hard time recovering and getting back into the routine. Be kind to yourself as you go through this process.
What I do is, I buck my logs where I split them. I just roll them them them to my splitter. Minimize the lifting. The older I get, I try to my things as easy to possible.
With you still learning on the excavator I don't see it as an issue to be handling the product more than once or twice, I call that practice. But that might just be me, I just know from experience that it can take a while to handle it like a pro.
Successful farmers are a jack of all trades because you are into multiple jobs. God Bless you and yours and enjoy your successes and learn from your mistakes and repetition makes you better.

Can't blame you, Chuck- sometimes the inspiration is just out of reach!
Thanks for sharing, whenever you get around to it!

Thanks. Appreciate you watching.
Thanks for taking the time Chuck. Looks like you’re stacking Lincoln Logs there for a future cabin. Nice machine there too.
Thanks for watching!!
God bless you and Sondra😊

you keep doing fire wood, that will keep you meditating and will keep you fulfilled. Your one of my inspiration Chuck! thanks

I'm a 73 year old woman and Lowe's and Harbor freight are my two favorite stores. 😊
Chuck, we love you please take some time for yourself. That goes for Sondra tooo.

Chuck, you slay me. I am stealing your line: The mood to do this has just left me. I will use that in the future!❤
🤣 that’s EXACTLY what happened.

Cayenne pepper in feed helps prevent/slow the liver issue with the turkeys. We have the same problem on our farm.

I did that on a load of poplar I just bought. Works great. Need to do it with this load too. Thanks for watching.
Thx
Ha! I was waiting for ‘stupid geese’ expletive. I agree.
Fall is looking good where you are compared to my Florida green. 😂

That’s what I need to be doing. Probably bring the splitter down to the log yard and work them up down there.
Chuck, hang in there! Take whatever time you need to recharge your batteries.
SPOKEN LIKE A TRUE WISE MAN. 👍🏽
Stupid geese😂
Eggs are about four dollars a dozen or more here in Florida at Walmart.
Thanks for sharing! I always learn something.

A lot of hard work on the farm.
Nooice! 😎 STOC
Thanks for watching.
You kill me everytime you say "Stupid Geese" LOL
They are soooo loud. 😆
I was waiting for it, you didn’t disappoint! Stupid geese 😊
I hate those loud things. 😆
Getting started is half the job, that's the hard part these days
Your going to ruin your gloves wearing them while you mess with all that wood. 😂 👖
