They finished Peace like “glad that one’s over, I almost cried” and I saw the next song was hoax and then I really felt bad for them 😂
peace is about taylor not being able to shield joe from the ravages of her fame seeing that he’s such a private person.
"That chorus is going to haunt me in my dreams"... I feel that. I woke up with Hoax stuck in my head the other day and listened to it on repeat for 3 hours. 😂
I do that with Champagne Problems. So many of those heart-string pullers on this album
Taylor has said that she appreciates that people interpret her songs in a way that resonates for them. Her songs DO have explicit meaning and stories behind them- but like all art, should be enjoyed the way it resonates with the person absorbing the art. Honestly the woman loves a double meaning and would make a phenomenal english teacher
She writes them in a way that's kinda carefully broad in the specifity. Like. For a song about fame she doesn't mention fame specifically. She leaves it open to interpretation
@@VioletEmerald yes! She's leaves everything open and makes things that most haven't experienced so viscerally relatable. She writes with intention which is something I seriously appreciate in her writing
@@VioletEmeraldyup! and so many things could disrupt peace in a relationship: mental health issues, family affairs, career, financial problems, addiction, etc. it's so so well-written that any of it could be the reason
“a happy one next time” even her happy ones are written so beautifully they still make you want to cry 😭 (daylight, invisible string, you are in love, etc).
if you want to REALLY cry: never grow up (for the girl dads), champagne problems, clean, last kiss, all too well 10 min version
Nooo not one for the girl dads. I might actually cry -E
You should definitely react to Never Grow Up haha
Ooh, definitely Last Kiss. And Ronan is another one!
@@TAHBofficialit’s so sweet but so emotional!!
You are losing me makes me cry every time
" my tears ricochet" IS a breakup song. It's just, for Taylor, not the breakup of a romantic relationship
all too well 10 minute version is going to melt poor jake into a puddle. 😅
Ohhh nooo 😅
Please do the lyric video first so you can just appreciate the lyrics and then …. The short film!!
he about to d*e
Listen to the sad girl autumn version of ALL TOO WELL.
Yaas! I thought maybe they were taking about ATW. Her masterpiece IMO. (If I had to choose JUST ONE.) Or ... "Exile".
do not tear these guys apart guys. Music is subjective. let them enjoy their journey.
I personally love your reactions and vibes, 🖤
Thank you!!
100% agree :) I appreciate them doing things their own way and not bending to whatever the swifties pressure them to do. There are so many different ways to expose yourself to music and if everyone did it the same way, there would be no genuine discussion on what multiple meanings these songs could have.
I love what you guys have to say everytime, Keep it up! :p
"Peace" you are right on, she can't give him peace because of her stardom and they will always have cameras in their face and stories about them that she can't control.
“Cruel Summer” is also one of her most popular happy songs!
At the time we all heard Peace for the first time and it was clearly about how Joe made Taylor feel inadequate and like she was absorbing his entire life and she would never be good enough for him, how did we not know that an end was inevitable? Jake knew immediately: “if you’re giving your all for someone and it isn’t enough, it’ll never be enough.” And now we’re about to get The Tortured Poet’s Department, presumably an entire album of “I gave you everything and you made me feel small.” “I love you, it’s ruining my life.”
This is absolute rubbish. Their relationship was still very strong at this point. It only apparently started getting into struggles later in 2021.
I frikking cannot deal with people badmouthing Joe.
Their relationship came to an end. She wanted it to go further and sadly he didn't at that point.
Unless it comes out that he cheated on her, the hate silly fans are spewing at a man who made her extremely happy for over 5 years is just unacceptable.
In all her lyrics she's written about her and Joe, she's praised how he didn't listen to the media hype and how he helped her ground herself.
I am about 100% sure her life and career wouldn't have gone so well after the Scott/Scooter shit if it weren't for their relationship.
In Peace, she is talking about her own insecurities. Not his doubt or dismissing her.
The same sentiments come across song after song about Joe. From Call It What You Want to The Great War.
Don't diminish a relationship that she treasured.
It's not ok.
As someone born in the 50s and the era of Machismo it's beautiful to see men being emotional and especially crying. It's cleansing and healing, thanks for being vulnerable.
I think y'all are doing great even without watching her explain before the songs because Taylor is big on people taking her songs and getting from them whatever it is that they personally take from it! ❤️
If you want a happier or at least more upbeat sounding song specifically from the Long pond sessions I recommend checking out these: The 1, cardigan, august, invisible string, Betty
Also, when listening to cardigan, august and Betty go into them knowing they are all connected. So think of it like a movie split into 3 parts from 3 different perspectives ☺️
oh also: the last great American dynasty
I will add a little info about this one though - it's about a real woman that inspired Taylor and you find out through the song what Taylor's connection is to this person.
Happy listening 🫶
Yes I was going to suggest the Last Great American Dynasty if you want to continue on with Long Pond. Or Invisible String. She’s broken up with that guy now but it’s a lovely song.
this is why we give breaks between doing taylor swift songs it's too much for us. we always put her songs on loop guys she gives us pain but always draws stars around our scars so dont worry its gonna be alright :)
i see what you did there😉😅
Folklore came out just as I was quietly ending a torturous, drawn-out, slowly dying long-term relationship and the entire album really spoke to my thoughts and feelings. Exile was relatable in how the person you love feels like your home and with them you take your home wherever you go, but when it’s over you feel like you dont have a home anywhere; My Tears Ricochet felt poignant and perfect in describing how when it’s at the point of breaking down you can both love each other and hate each other too. Hoax is the saddest and my heartbreaking song I’ve ever heard about (for me) telling a person who makes you miserable that you love them so much you’ve chosen misery with them over happiness with anyone else every single time, and even when logic wins out and you know you can’t do it anymore, you still want to.
These reactions to her just keep getting better. I love how you guys see just how amazing she is as an artist and lyricist. You guys are amazing. Love Jake’s raw and real reactions.
She explains the songs right before performing them on Long Pond. I suggest finding versions on UA-cam where the explanation is included, it makes it even better.
If you want to continue with the Long Pond, I suggest This is me trying (you must react to her explanation in this one).
Edit: whoops, I recommended that one before seeing you want a happier one 😂
the bass player (who tickles the ivory) is Aaron Dessner (from the National) and the Pianast from the previous video was Jack Antonoff (of the Bleachers and Fun and also a producer on several of Taylor’s albums). Both were producers on this album! She also did a collaboration with Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) on Folklore.
if you want a happy taylor swift songs you should react to “New Romantics” “I Think He Knows” “Lover” “All of the Girls You Loved Before” “King of My Heart” “Fearless” “Sparks Fly” just to name a few.
Yes to all of these!
omg new romantics is genuinely one of my favourite songs ever
Who is the emotional brother? I get you, man. Real men are not afraid to be emotional.
😂 the emotional brother is Jake
It’s ludicrous to yell at you when Taylor herself says MTR reminds her of a divorce.
For a happier vibe, can I suggest Daylight (Lover in Paris concert), Ready For It, I Did Something Bad & Don't Blame Me from the Reputation Tour. The Reputation songs have more of a badass FU vibe and Daylight is a song about finding love.
i really hope we get an All Too Well (10 Minute Version) Lyric video reaction one of these days. Loved the reaction as always!
sorry if some swifties might’ve put you off, but i’m here to support taylor and this channel. love your reactions!
hoax is her most underrated song ❤
Give your tear ducts a break and switch from "sad" Taylor to "mad" Taylor. "Mad Woman" from the Long Pond Studio Sessions shows Taylor at her bitter best.
"REPUTATION" !!
I just discovererd your channel and am truly impressed at your reactions. I am a 78 YO Swifty,. I really enjoy seeing people's first reactions to Taylor Swift. She is a generational talent and as you dig deeper into her music you will become even more convinced she is the best songwriter/storyteller in the business. Keep watching.
You want happier songs??

i always cry to new years day 😭
@@flor.mariaa new year's day is sweet and soft.
“thank god. i almost started crying” and you have no idea what hoax is gonna do. 😂
I am so happy you guys like hoax. It is so underrated and one of my favourites on folklore.
For happy songs I would say last great American dynasty is a fun one that’s very story driven.
Lover, Paper Rings, The Best Day (she wrote for her mom for Mother’s Day), Change. Long Live (I cry happy tears every time) but it’s such a positive song that’s become the Swiftie anthem, a song about her, her band, and the fans.
Thought I knew EVERY TS song. Didn't know "Hoax". And these guys truly letting themselves FEEL her lyrics/mood: So Good!
Do "Ready For It" and "Don't Blame Me" live from Reputation tour.
It will bring you back to (happy 😂) life! That's the thing about TS. Lol. Like life, she slays you, & then ... shocks you back to joy with a different vibe! That's her superpower!
I agree- art is there for interpretation. If you’re interested in the artist’s intention, that’s great. But most great artists like for people to interpret their work in whatever way it speaks to them.
Jake is so sweet 🤍 what a lover
Speaking of you guys would love lover
You are so right! As a newer Swiftie, I like to formulate my own interpretation.
I think one of the best parts of Taylor's lyrics is they are adaptable to experiences we have or are going through.
Thank you for pointing out that the commentaries are only on the Disney + version. I kept looking on YT for them 😅
Long pond sessions are my favorite along with any stripped down live performance.
This was beautiful ❤. Her voice and music are soothing.
Awesome guys, I appreciate the love, She absolutely deserves the respect, Now u understand why we ask for it.
I love your guys reactions. If you react to Taylor Swift, I promise I'll watch every single video you react to, Taylor Swift.
I second this
I 100% agree that you should be able to listen, enjoy, interpret, feel the music in your own way. Your interpretations thus far have been fair. I think Swifties just like to note Taylor’s truth behind the song for informational purposes. Her story of her previous label basically stealing her masters (her stolen lullabies) is not unique to just her, and it was (and still is) a huge deal. Either way, welcome to the world of TS. She has a huge following for a reason. Enjoy your time, it’s wonderful here 🥰
Your reaction is excellent. My husband, who likes Taylor's music, once asked me to please put together a positive TS song list. I came up with a playlist, but there are probably others who've been fans longer who can help. The ones that immediately come to mind are Paris, Invisible String (if you don't think too hard about the fact that they ultimately broke up Lavender Haze), London Boy, and 22. Thank you so much for doing these reactions!
I just love Jake, bless his heart. ❤️
Really enjoying your reactions to TS guys. Keep them coming, I'm thoroughly invested now.
I love that you guys try and figure it out, it’s fun! And I love that you follow up after in the comments to see what ya got right and not…
You’re right about Disney, but you should watch them even if not with us 😢😉
Disney will steal our souls one day lol. Thank you for the love!! -J
hi!! know i'm a bit late to comment on this (3 months late to be exact lmbo) but please don't listen to any of the comments getting on your guys' case for reading her songs "wrong;" while she does write autobiographically and a lot of her songs can be about very specific experiences she's dealt with, there's never a wrong way to read into her writing or songs. writing is subjective and music is equally subjective--your own experiences and what you get out of your listening to her are your own!!! all that being said i always love watching people get into her music without much prior knowledge about her, it's always such a blast and you guys are very fun to watch, i love how you analyze her lyricism!!! :DDDD
and by the way, my tears ricochet *is* technically a breakup song! while it's not about a breakup so to speak, it is written like a breakup song and hits a lot of the same beats (plus what it's really about can be considered a kind of breakup in its own right AND what people think it's about can't be 100% confirmed anyhow), i think your guys' take on it is completely valid!!
Just here watching some of yalls older taylor reactions 😂 Jake I'm with you 🙌💯♥️
The guy playing the guitar and piano is Aaron Dessner. He is one of my favorite musicians. He and his brother wrote the music for the movie Cyrano which was amazing! I read that Aaron also owns the Long Pond Studio. He and Taylor spoke about Peace before the song and he relates to it because of his mental health issues and he said “he is a difficult person to be in a relationship with”. I see Taylor must struggle in relationships because she is so famous and can’t offer that peace. Aaron is also in the band The National and they worked with TS on the song Coney Island, a favorite of mine from TS Evermore album. ❤
"we subject ourselves to the comment section" awesome. I am enjoying you experiencing Taylor. Thank You
Peace is my fav song it was my no. 1 on Spotify wrapped up songs
Bless Jake and his tears, us Swifties get it! ❤
I love these songs. The whole studio session is sooo good. The only really happy one on that album is “the last great american dynasty” I think? But that one is a serious treat, definitely one of my favs by her.
If you want to break down in sobbing tears, try “Ronan” or “Soon You’ll Get Better” or (possibly depending on your personal experiences) “Bigger Than The Whole Sky”. I listen to those when I need to have a cathartic cry. “Forever Winter”, “Never Grow Up”, “The Best Day”, and “Fifteen” also make me cry, but I think that’s just me.
Happy ones from other albums: “Our Song”, “Mine”, “Sparks Fly”, “Don’t Blame Me”, “Cruel Summer”, “Lover”, “Paper Rings”, “ME!” (Unpopular, but *I* love it), “Karma”, “Paris”… there are others, too, but I like those best, haha. Her live performances are always in another league, though.
Jake is amazing!! Thank you for your honesty
"all these people think love's for show, but i would die for you in secret" is her most powerful line about love
Next from her studio sessions that you guys should react to --- August, Invisible String, and Seven, these songs have joyful vibes...
Seven KILLS me, that was my childhood. Like it was from the perspective of one of my friends who was trying to save me from all of it.
@@sarinasoren7818meeee
Seven is DEVASTATING what are you talking about 😭
I love you guys, this reaction was so good and amazing 😍😍 Taylor swift is amazing and such a good song writer💕
The pianist is Jack Antonof (not sure I spelled his last name correctly). He and Taylor have collaborated on song writing and these studio sessions. He’s a great friend to Taylor.
peace is my favorite song from folklore. my tears ricochet and this is me trying as well.
if you want something upbeat and fun react to Don't Blame Me from the reputation tour. that specific performance is so fun and good!
You guys are my favorites! Thank you for letting me connect with people who love her music and watch you experience it! I have so many to recommend, but I think Ronan would break anyone.
peace is my favorite Taylor song
If you want to continue with Long Pond, Exile w/ Bon Iver is amazing.
oh poor guy :( so sweet
Please do last great american dynasty from long pond, exile and 'the lakes' really is one for breaking down the english language tbh her wording is beautiful especially the line 'ive come too far to watch some name dropping sleaze tell me what are my words worth' shes on about a place she visited here in the uk called the lake district which as the name suggests weve got alot of big lakes within fairly close range of each other surrounded by moutains and peaks which a lot of english poets moved to the area to write their works, one being william wordsworth which is what her line is about whilst having a double meaning, she visited his gravestone and was inspired by his work and the surrounding area she was in :)
Hands down recommending New romantics for a happy next song (also strongly suggest closure as a not super sad but might make a tear well next one too just cause it’s chaotic production makes the metal lover in me very happy)
I didn't see anyone tear you guys apart in last video 🤷♀️. I just everyone clarifying that Taylor already admitted she wrote My Tears Ricochet dedicated to Scott Borchetta, her old record label. Also, i LOVE having the same thumbnail look bc it's easier to spot your Taylor videos! ❤
A happy one… do “dress” from Rep tour ❤️
Ooooh, good suggestion
Ooo yeah
Cant name a happy folklore song, i think the least sad is the last great american dynasty, invisivle string and the one
Whenever she says "My Kingdom Come Undone " just absolutely brilliant i had never heard it said like that and it made so much sense.
Your video came up on my recommended videos and I’m so glad I watched. I so appreciate you as men being vulnerable with your emotions and really thinking so deeply and critically about how the song make you feel and getting the most from the music.
I really look forward to your reactions in the future!
It’s a heavy song, but tolerate it is absolutely amazing and will crush you but hits so deep. Some more positive songs can be found on reputation, 1989, lover, and midnights!
Taylor's worldwide stardom makes it very difficult for any man to handle a very un-peaceful life. Constant paparazzi, negative articles from the far right, people like Kanye and Kim trying to ruin her or Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun making 367 million on selling her Masters without her having any say in the matter. But mostly, I think Taylor just doesn't live a normal life with all the guards around her all the time. She has a hard time just going to a restaurant for dinner. Some men would say I can't live this way and you cannot give me peace. That is her fear. Hope Travis Kelce CAN handle it! She deserves a loving relationship. Love you guys, you all seem mature for your age and introspective. I'm here for it.
Love your Taylor reactions! Keep 'em coming :D
If you need a little break from high-intensity emotion of the folklore and evermore albums, there are a couple of things I could recommend:
- Don’t Blame Me (live performance from the Reputation tour)
- Getaway Car (also the live performance from the Rep tour)
- The music video for Blank Space. (Important to note on this one that it’s Taylor’s satirization of the way the media portrayed her as some sort of unbalanced, “serial dater”. So the video is very tongue-in-cheek.)
- The music video for Look What You Made Me Do. (Important to note on this one that it’s taking shots and Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and the media whose brutal backlash, along with the Kim and Kanye “phone call frame job”, heavily contributed to Taylor’s “cancellation” in 2016. There’s A LOT going on in that video, but if you know that, you’ll at least have a general idea of what’s going on. Also helpful to know that during the phone call frame job, Kim called Taylor a snake and encouraged people to bombard her Instagram with snake emojis. After the “cancellation”, Taylor disappeared for about a year. The video for LWYMMD was her way of announcing she was back, highly pissed off and wasn’t going to take anymore s#%* from anyone. It, along with the Rep tour, was an ICONIC comeback. This video is another that demonstrates Taylor’s sense of humor and that she’s also willing to take shots at herself. 😊
I think peace is about her asking him ( Joe) if she will be enough. Even if they have to deal with the fame and her celebrity the rest of their lives.
Fantastic
The interview that she did after singing that song, you guys should watch that. She talks about peace, and why she wrote it and what it means for her. Essentially, she gets hounded by the media and she’s never not going to be in a press bubble. Her life is always gonna be in a chase. And I guess there have been guys she stated that couldn’t handle that.
Listen to Vigilante Shit. I love that song. It's sexy and she's pissed off. It's so good and it's a true story...again about her record label.
I hope by now you guys realize that she's performing with Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, two absolutely brilliant musicians in their own right. I think her music has matured so much since she began working with them.
Do the NPR tiny desk next!!! It’s live and she plays 4-5 songs I believe.
SNL performance of false God is also great and isn’t like terribly sad.
Taylor albums tell a story supporting an overall theme so this song makes a bit more sense if you knew the songs leading up to it as the finale. This channel made me want to download UA-cam and subscribe for the first time in my life because I love it so much! 😂😂
🫶🫶🫶
I would say react to “I know places” from the 1989 tour and “I did something bad” from the reputation tour, showing a whole other side of Taylor. I promise you would cry but be shocked how good it is!
just want you to know that I never skipped even 1 advertisement on your reactions 😅 I really appreciate this.
Thank you!!
Regarding the comments from the beginning about My Tears Ricochet - leaving a label you’ve been with for over a decade, and leaving before/after such a betrayal as Taylor suffered, that IS a breakup! Just not a romantic one, friendship and employment breakups can be even more heart wrenching than romantic break ups.
I love when the men cry
Great reaction, you're doing a wonderful job guys!! If you need a pick me up I recommend a performance from her Paris Live show, BBC Radio One Session or Grammy Museum session.
Paris - Cornelia Street, Death by a Thousand Cuts
BBC - Lover, Holy Ground, Phil Collins cover
Grammy Museum - Wildest Dreams, Blank Space
If you want insane spectacle, do a song from her Reputation Tour like "Don't Blame Me", "I Did Something Bad" or "Ready For It"?
Oh and edit: when you're ready for it, you will have to do Swift's heartbreak of all heartbreak songs 😋 called All Too Well. It's so good and such a fan favourite she rereleased a 10 minute version with a short film to go with it.
Have fun!! ❤🎉
Ok if they do Grammy museum.. OUT OF THE WOODS is absolutely illegal. My favorite live performance by her along with the Archer at BBC
@@jamiespeese2062omg yes!! That version is amazing
Something funny to me about the lyrics to Peace- Taylor says "there are robbers to the east, clowns to the West"- the W in West is capitalized, refering to Kanye West, the robbers to the east refers to Scooter Braun who bought her masters out from under her when she wanted to own them and had begged her former label head Scott Borchetta to sell them to her.
And she rolls her eyes for the clowns to the west as she sings it here.
Lisa here again! You guys should react to my last recommendation which is the trilogy that is totally fictional. I intentionally picked it last time since I broke you guys with “my tears ricochet.” I promise no tears. Stick to the Long Pond Studio and do Cardigan, August, and Betty in that order. I wanna give you guys a hug….especially Jacob. Thanks for sharing your touching reaction. 🫶
Calm Down will Crack you up! Great video & song 😂
when you are ready to be sad and fired up, do dear john from speak now and would've. should've, could've from midnights (3am)-they relate
also like Cornelia street and death by a thousand cuts acoustic performance from lover in paris
for fun the blank space and look what you made me do music videos
Just want to say, I think for Taylor, she expected people who wanted to watch Long Pond have probably already heard the album and want more, so don't worry about it! I do love Peace's explanation, one of my favorites, so I suggest you do look into it for yourselves! I will also say that they totally do not explain the background to My Tears Ricochet, so don't feel bad! They talk about the oblique impact of it, but not details.
Two heartbreaking songs in a row - oof
Taylor said in the Long Ponds interview that going through that with Scott was like someone going through a divorce so she wanted to convey those feelings too so ya’ll were definitely on the right track. ❤
From the same long pond studio sessions: invisible string & the 1!!
I know you don’t want to watch what the song is about beforehand but maybe listen afterwards? It’s so awesome to hear her inspiration and what she put into the song!
If you’re worried about being copyrighted, even just to understand what message _she_ tried to convey, you could consider just reading the explanations on Genius
Paper Rings and Stay Stay Stay are probably the songs that make me smile most
Paper Rings is amazing and I vidded it. I'm one of those who can't stand Stay Stay Stay though. She's glorifying being a toxic/abusive girlfriend as if it's a fantasy or at least a joke and to me it hits too close to home.
@@VioletEmerald I can totally see that for Stay Stay Stay. As English isn't my first language, I sometimes listen to music more in the sense of melodies than lyrics and I think that's why I like this one.
some happy/upbeat taylor songs:
New Romantics
Starlight
Mean
I think he knows
ME! (contrary to popular opinion, I actually enjoy this song and it makes me cry really hard even though it’s extremely upbeat and happy😂)
Hey Stephen
Mine
Enchanted
Long live
You are in love
How you get the girl
Gorgeous
King of my heart
Bejeweled
Glitch
Paris
that’s all I can think of off the top of my head. Taylor has a lot of upbeat songs with sad ass lyrics, but I didn’t include them in this list😂😂loving your guys’ reactions !! 🩶🩶
Know you guys want something happier but I’d love to see you react to Exile or Tolerate It
Tolerate it is heartbreaking
Hahaha I love the reactions! I love her 10 minute song about her short lived relationship with Jake Gyllanghall called All Too Well! Check it out! Beautiful story telling! But you may need to go with "Shake it off" for the next one 😂 "You Need to Calm Down"... and I like Blank Space. Lol. Those are fun!
Hmm... a happy song? A real good one is "London Boy". Watch the BBC 1 live lounge version. That one is a jam to listen to. It definitely makes me happy when I hear it.
Definitely watch that version. It's so good and SO FUN
Its ok to cry ! ❤❤❤
REACT TO “the 1” and “cardigan” long pond studio too, is amazing ❤️
6:30 love mr Aaron Dessner ❤️🩹
you should definitely react to i visible string long pond studio & mad woman !!
I think you guys would love the "Exile" long pond studio session!
We sure did! Make sure you check it out! -J
Hi, from Argentina! Yes please, do the love triangle!: Cardigan / Betty /August!!! ❤
I really like your opinions and thoughts.. Love from Assam, India..😇😇🙂
