Hiking Through an Otherworldly Mountainous Landscape | Montserrat

- Welcome back for another history hike. Catalonia is home to some wild landscapes, but some are wilder than others still. Montserrat received its name from the way it looks: like a serrated saw blade sticking out of the ground. Today we take you deep into the Montserrat mountain range to climb its highest peak: Sant Jeroni. We started out near the famous abbey of Santa Maria de Montserrat, which was a little touristic for our tastes. What felt like thousands of steps later we reached the mountains where we hiked through some really crazy rocky peaks. The mountains are known for the many hermitages dotted around. Along our hike we encountered a few of them as well. Eventually we would reach the peak at 1236 metres. Make sure you keep watching to see the amazing views!

Excellent! More "crazy hikes like this" while your legs are still young!
They are getting older by the day! Best get to it then 😁
Beautiful
Thank you!
I think I will take the train/bus and wait for you up the hill 😍
Maybe your husband could carry you?
Well done, thanks for sharing
Thanks a lot! The hikes don't always get the same love as the castles, but we're glad they are still appreciated!
Thank you for a beautiful walk , what gorgeous scenery x😅
And thank you for watching and leaving a nice comment! ❤️
what beautiful views, love the picture of the two of you too, it is nice to have something for yourself when you are mostly filming for the channel. Thank you for taking the viewers to these places we would otherwise never see!
Thanks 😄. We also think it's important to take the time to actually enjoy what we're doing and not just focus on the filming 👍❤️
Hello from Brazil ☕️. Beautiful video and landscape. Beautiful nature
Thanks a lot 😁
Nice video, good information as always. Thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks!
What a gorgeous hike! ❤
Thank you for watching ❤️
@@TheHistoryHikers no worries 😌
That lunch spot looks like a great knitting place too. Wouldn't want to climb all those stairs with strep troath though... Oh wait.
Sounds like you have experience with both those things!
wonderful scenery! The big question is, when you were done with this tiring but fulfilling day, did you wish you had taken the funicular or would you do it the same way all over again? Cheers!
If we go back to do more hiking there (which we would like to do), we might use the funicular to speed up progress 😅. Though the prices are still quite steep for a 200m trainride!
