The Old Library used to be The Chair and Rocket. The oldest houses are the two cottages. I used to live in the one on the left as you look at them.

The "Old Library" was known as the "Monkey House" at one time.
A monkey, who had a penchant for customers' beer lived there.

The oldest part of the Old Library, is the part with the clay barrels around the top of the walls. This section goes right back to 18 something!! The barrels in this section of the pub are listed! They were installed by Mr Frank James snr who ran the pub at that time! It was a small pub when it started, but gradually grew in to what it is today.
The company who took over from the Jug and Jester took the barrels down. My friend, Mr Frank James jnr age 87, is the grandson to Mr Frank James senior who ran the original pub that was just called 'Jameses' at that time. Mr Frank James jnr informed the management that the barrels are listed!! They've since been put back 🙂 Frank's family has a lonnnng history in the pub industry in Leamington and Warwick..... And all the the males from the Jameses family are all called Frank! Little fun fact 🙂
    Great video 🙂 I enjoyed it 🙂

Great video Dan, bit of info for you, back in bygone years , at the top of the parade where the chill out grass area is and the huge trees, once stood a Church quite close to the pavement location.
I don’t suppose you know anything about what was Lockheed that stood on tachbrook road, my father worked there before and after National service, all the way through its time as AP , at one time the company had many factories around the country, but what I really wanted to know was it’s connection with aviation in the war.

I have done a video about the church that stood at top of the parade. I have had at a look at the map that dates back to 1892 and before the factory was there it was just allotments and Farmland.

@@septme9618 Being pedantic about the surname? I lived in Clarendon Square for 18 years back in the 60's and 70's ....exactly the same arguments amongst us kids even then!
