I am doing something similar, using an old Lees Quick & Easy air driven corner cartridge filter. Since these are discontinued, cartriges are scarce. I cut dual layer filter foam to fit and use it in conjunction with an undergravel filter run off the same pump. I've got a very small apartment, and a 10 gallon tower tank.
Sounds like a nice solution. Shame they are discontinued but one of the things I love about this hobby is that we can find ways to make equipment last and live on.
Thank you Robert. You know me, can't resist a filter that's either packed with features or that I can tinker with and is on sale. I got this for a really good price and have had these and similar previously so saw the potential right away.
Thanks very much Robin. A csae of having to learn to. I am a heavy planter as you know and a heavy feeder so I end up having to optimise my filtration for best results.
Thanks very much. Just my wee version. There'll be loads of ways to customise filters like this to fit folks requirements and what they have available.
Oh wow. I wasn't sure whether to be humbled or concerned but since you came to say hi I'm going to assume it's been mostly good and not worry about too much about it. I hope you find a thing or two enjoyable or interesting on my channel. Thank you very much for coming to look.
I've actually got a spare cf filter in the shed so might give this a go. I am lazy however so I will probably just stuff the whole thing full of polishing pads 😄
Thanks very much. The plants are Amazon Frogbit bud. Really great floating plant. They have nice root structures under them which fish love to explore and graze on micro-organisms from and of course they enjoy the cover it provides. I'm planning on doing a video on Frogbit shortly but I'm sure you'll be able to find videos from others and lots of information online. It really is a great plant.
Looking forward to your video. Thanks for the information. I got a few gourami’s that likes to hide between the plants on the bottom, I’m sure they’ll like hanging out on top of the water under the buds.
@@RickieVz1 Definately! Like their cousins the Betta they like to hang out at the surface especially since they have the labrynth organ and breathe atmospheric air. So they'll feel more secure with floating plants to use as cover. In the wild danger often comes from above.
Interesting video Daniel. I looked into this filter and you can't change the flow rate. Also i use Indian Almond leaves which would be counter productive. I like the tanning's in my tank.
is it quiet ? does the power cord go into the water ? i use aquaclear 50s with sponge intake filters and just poly fiber in the basket area , works for me . thanks for the video
It is quiet bud with the lid removed anyway. The power cord does go into the water but you find that with most internal filters. It's really hard to get Aquaclears over here. I couldn't use a HOB on that tank anyway. It's a six foot tank in my dining room. If I were to pull it out from the wall it wouldn't look right. I bet stuffing your filter with polyfilter works a treat. 👍
I got mine from an aquarium store near me but if you just Google "filter floss pads" it throws up plenty of options. Lots of times you can separate the thicker ones into thinner sheets too.

Nice video Daniel...I love pothos as well, its growing like a weed everywhere in this apt.. my mbuna kept chewing off the roots when I had it in my 55g though..lol
Haha, just can't trust any plants around those Mbuna can you. My Pothos isn't growing quite as quickly as I'd like but I just can't get enough light into the room my tanks are in so I think that is the reason.

Great as usual nice to see what others are doing.

Nice Daniel, looks good keep us posted on the long run use .Glad to hear from you my friend.
Thanks homes. Will do bud.
Great video. Love how you customize your filters.

Looks great
Thanks a lot WAFL. It works really well.
looks like a great filter love what you did with it .. going to have to get some of that plant for my rainbow tank

Awesome video 👍 have a nice day 👍
Thank you very much. You too👍
Hello Daniel!!!! Everyone talks about you so I decided to come check out your channel!!! Great stuff!!! New sub!!!

@@DanielKeepingFish Everything has been good Daniel!!! No worries!!! LOL!!! IM going to be checking out more of your videos!!! Enjoy your night!!!
Daniel Dude! Looking good bro. Great unboxing.
Thanks very much bud. I enjoyed tinkering with this filter and making the video loads. Hope it's useful to one or two folk.
Great unboxing Brother ! Looks very similar to Tetra Whisper series.👍😄
But this one is more sturdy and compact !👍👍
Thank you homes. Yeah I really like them. They're sturdy as you say. You can get a good amount of media in them and they have a good flow rate.
Agree mate mechanical filtration should come before the biological filtration. Good correction and good luck 👍
Totally man. I don't get why manufacturers send them out the other way around unless there's something I'm missing.
Thanks homes. Take good care. 👍
I like you can open the cartridge and hot rod it ✌ I Dig the purigan sack 😊 Cool take the lid off and drop a plant in WIN WIN !!!😸
Thanks so much Cop.
Is it a filter, is it a flower pot...? Haha.
Yeah I much prefer filters I can customise and tinker about with.
Why is everything better over there 😑😑that looks like a great internal filter I'm a bit jealous. 😉😉
Oh no I hope you have something similar. It is a neat series of filters.
I've actually got a spare cf filter in the shed so might give this a go. I am lazy however so I will probably just stuff the whole thing full of polishing pads 😄
Haha, yes mate, that's one way of doing it. Bet it will do a great job too.
Hi, great video, thanks. During the end of the video there was 3 floating plants that was pushed away during the water flow. What’s the name of it?
Thanks very much.

Yeah it's not for everyone. Just an idea for polishing water if it suits your objectives.
Cool 😎 I’ve never seen that one ☝️
Thanks Mary. I don't know if you have Interpet in the US do you?
You'll have filters very similar anyway no doubt.
Daniel Keeping Fish yes I don’t think so but similar ones I believe
@@RNH2O thanks for telling me Mary. Good to know what is and isn't available in different parts of the world.
Dope
Thanks PT!

Where do you get the thin filter wool from? I can’t seem to find any anywhere.
I got mine from an aquarium store near me but if you just Google "filter floss pads" it throws up plenty of options. Lots of times you can separate the thicker ones into thinner sheets too.
