Love the pod fellas. I lived on the Gold Coast for 5 years and have just moved away. To add my voice to your conversation around the sporting culture on the Gold Coast, I would say it's flaw is the lack of people who live there, who have grown up there. So many people who live there did not grow up there. Their allegiance is to their 'home' teams, be they in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, or Peth (like me). When you move inter-state, there is something to be said of the feeling of 'home' you experience when the team you grew up supporting comes to town. I have been to many AFL games at People's First Stadium where the Suns fans have been outnumbered astronomically. There is a passion for Sport on the Gold Coast. It is not a passion FOR the Gold Coast. I believe that if a new team were to start up in a more neutral sport like soccer (which for many Australians does not hold a deep-rooted allegiance like AFL), we could see a team succeed where others have failed and bring the city together in the process.
Jerome is banging on the right door here. Fiji Football is absolutely slept on in Australia. I've been lucky enough to work with a few clubs there to get a player over to play in their Premier League and having watched alot of their football plus watching the Pacific Cup here in 2018/19 There's some serious talent in Fiji.
Rugari the Don ? Cmon guys, he’s a wanna be journalist who’s survived the purge of mainstream journalism, Murdoch , SMH , multi media is where its at , so he really got a start by networking people, so much for talent selection, sounds a lot like Australian football, it’s all about who you know to get doors open , fascinating how the boys are all about who they know and remember so and so good all mates world 😂
Vince Rugari, the AFL man masquerading as a football journo. Love how he stumbled at the question about growing up and being a football fan, which he never was. Always an AFL man with a side of football and an FFA yes man. And he has the audacity to talk about the game and it's history here with such authority. Michael Cockerill will be rolling in his grave knowing this drip has his job.
King Rugari
Great pod guys. Loved the points on qld and Gold Coast. Perry Park is a must. GC has so many football clubs, they should bring back a team
Really enjoyable boys, well done. I’ll be tuning in again for sure.
Awesome episode lads !!! 👍👍👍
