Brian was my friend. We worked alongside each other in the medical squadron at a base in the United Kingdom. He was a diligent worker and enjoyed life to the full. If a joke was to be had Brian was always there. Then one afternoon he had a massive heart attack and almost died. Soon after he was transferred back to the USA for intensive treatment. Brian was medically retired as an E-8, Senior Master Sergeant. He continued to battle health issues but never gave up on life and or lost is wicked sense of humor. Sadly Brain passed away on 14 December 2022. My heartfelt condolences go to his wife, Denise, and their children and family. RIP Brian.

I read that he received a heart transplant and wasn't eligible until after he quit smoking. With the very limited availability of donor hearts, I question why anyone who ruined their heart from smoking should be entitled to a heart transplant when others who need one through no fault of their own have to die. Not only that, but smoking is more addictive than just about anything else, and we have no way of knowing if that person is going to start smoking again after they get the new heart and think they're "cured". Glad this man is using his extended life to help others, though.

      It’s probably because he’s a veteran

Donor hearts aren’t limited it depends on age, blood type, etc

Who are you to judge?! Are you god? Are you a Saint? No. He deserved the transplant just as much as anyone else.

he's not a veteran. his ranks are off. the most stripes you can have on the bottom of his chevrons is 5, meaning ur a tech sergeant. but he has 6 instead. these are not USAF ranks that are on the uniform and even the hats show ranks that are false...this had a decent message but don't claim to be something ur not showing false ranks...😠

      Benjamin Haywood,
Judging by your comment, it appears that you have little or not knowledge of Air Force history and the origins of whence the Air Force evolved. Please take a few moments to look at the following link:

Rupert Ellis one hour after making that comment I researched and found the truth. immediately I wanted to take it back because I was so disgusted with how I responded and for being ignorant. I do apologize a thousand times. ..

      Benjamin,
Apology accepted on the behalf of all military members active and veterans. It's unfortunate that the vast majority of the civilian sector have no clue what the military is about beyond what they see in the movies. Most people whom have sons and daughters serving in the military can't tell you what profession they are engaged in or where they are serving beyond the country they are serving in. Parents and loved ones need to get more involved with the careers of this family members that are serving. Freedom is not Free, it take a lot of sacrifice....
