Good first reaction, welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊You have 14 years of their music and performances to catch up on. There is no other band quite like BABYMETAL - don't try to fit them into one genre, one box or one pigeonhole, they can do everything and anything. They pioneered their very own metal sub-genre (Kawaii-Metal - kawaii translates roughly as cute or adorable) where they fuse Metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics. They have gone on to blend many more musical genres and styles with metal. The name BABYMETAL is in part an indication that they gave birth to this new metal sub-genre. Su-metal is the lead vocalist and the whole concept was formed around her vocal talents and stage presence ... even though she was still only 12 when they started. Moametal and Momometal (and for the first 7 or 8 years Yuimetal) are also very talented and crucial to what makes BABYMETAL unique, original and special - and awesome. This was at the Tokyo Dome in 2016 - 55,000 people sold out two nights running. Su was 18, Yui and Moa both 17. Unlike pop acts and other artists who incorporate choreographed dance where it is used to fill the stage or to give you half-dressed girls (and boys) to look at as they perform all the same old dance moves, grab their crotches and prance about for no apparent reason, BABYMETAL's choreo serves at least two very real purposes. The choreo is bespoke for each song and it is interpretive dance relating to and helping to translate the meaning of the song or a lyric. Most importantly they use their choreo to include and involve the audience. When the girls jump, pump their fist or do a particular move the crowd takes their cue from the to do the same so the crowd becomes a big part of the performance. BABYMETAL are black belts in crowd engagement and crowd control. They don't do music for any anime ... they just happen to be Japanese. As for not understanding Japanese and what they are saying, don't worry, they will make you feel the emotion of a song and watch the choreo, that can help. As Su-metal once said - "Don't think. Feel." In live shows BABYMETAL are supported by the Kami Band, each one of them a world class musician. From late 2012 they Kami Band of the East (the best Japanese session musicians) were phased in playing a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows and became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014. In 2019, as BABYMETAL's foreign tours got longer, the Kami Band of the West (American musician) was brought in to help with those tours. The Kami Band of the East last appeared in January 2023, the West Kamis have been ever present since April 2023. 'Megitsune' is a big favourite, often coming top in fan polls and it is the song they have played live more times than any other. It is also arguably the song that showcases better than most what BABYMETAL are about and one that truly reflects their Japanese culture the best. The lyrics are about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains the fox mask Su had🦊) which, in Japanese mythology, are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. It is also a bit of a push back against the traditional subservient female role in Japanese society, saying that is changing I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength. They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong. The melody used in the breakdown and in the intro is from the very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms). When Su spoke a few words and did a high kick she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss. BABYMETAL have about 70 songs now, each one different to the last - they will surprise you every time. The official music videos are all very good and worth seeing (some should almost be compulsory viewing), but BABYMETAL are first and foremost a live performance act, that is where you will see and most importantly hear them at their very best. I'm sure you will get more suggestions for songs and performances as you go along.
As far as official music videos go, I always recommend avoiding "Distortion" and "Starlight" as those do not feature the girls and are artsy-fartsy sci-fi/fantasy lore stuff that makes no sense unless you have already done a deep dive into the lore. Always do live performances for those two songs.
Well they were founded to heal a specific japanese problem in the metal industry at tjat time several big male babds and aging male fans. Koba wanted girld as fans and performers. If you look at tofays market, the female bands dominate. And the japanese fans have many females. And Babymetal caused a lot of these. Especially when they started their career in the US and Europe. Suddenly their tours in the US and Europe earned more than any other japanese band. Which totally burst the jaoanese statistics.
They're sorta their own thing for sure. They've been doing this for 14 years and just refining and perfecting a style that's unique to say the least...and they've gotten it down so well that when other bands try to replicate them, they can't pull it off. The hype, the contrast, the agression, the happiness...it's not like anything else. Stick with live videos and check out something more recent for the next one...'Monochrome' from PIA Arena would be a good follow up.
It seems YT deleted my comment i left here when there was no other comments. Anyway you already got all the info. Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥
BabyMetal....they're something else, aren't thay ! A breath of fresh air in a stale room of dusty classics and short lived unknown artists that been there for the past 30 years. I can't explain in so many words how much I've enjoyed their music. Most times, there is no words that exist to define BabyMetal. But, one of them I've heard before was being a "crossover" or a "gateway' band. Metal heads crossing over to pop or vice versa is an example. Subscribing because I think this is going to happen here. Your reaction....like so many others including my own never gets old. lol Enjoy the ride !
Tokyo Dome! Yes, very rare! Kawaii metal (cute) metal, just one of their all time favorite songs, along with Gimme Chocolate and Headbanger, their first songs. Only a small portion, lots more of Babymetal to see!
The genre is Kawaii Metal.... which means Cute Metal. The sing is about women being like fioxes and pretending to be something thry are not. The idea of this genre is a m8x of Metal and Jpop.
Bbaymetal is a fusion of metal and j-pop they call Kawaii (cute) metal. They have been around since 2010 when Su (lead) was only 12 and Moa and Yui were 11. They did two sell out shows at the Tokyo Dome with crowds of 55k people. This song is basically about women empowerment, saying how in some places women are expected to act in a ceratin manner. smiling out the outside while crying on the inside. If you would like to continue your journey down the foxhole I'd like to suggest Road of Resistance (Live in Japan). Monochrome (PIA Arena).
Kind of like an aerobics class for 55,000. Love these shows. Peak Babymetal. Buy the Red Night/Black Night concert vids if you’ve got a spare $12-15. You won’t be sorry.
I'm Japanese. Thank for your great reaction. BABYMETAL's members are famous star (acting in TV. CM. etc) in Japan from when a child. The agency they work for is the largest listed entertainment company in Japan and has many stars. It is very difficult to get into this office, and female applicants need to be exceptionally beautiful, first of all. Many stars have been with the company since childhood and take various lessons from leading instructors, such as dancing, singing, acting, etc., and usually become an actress. And among them, a small number of people with high singing ability (like the lead vocal of BABYMETAL : Suzuka Nakamoto) becomes a musician. This is because it is extremely rare for a person to have both a beautiful appearance like an actress and a high singing ability. We can see many videos of her singing song since when elementary school on UA-cam. BABYMETAL was created to make use of her talent in 2010(When she was 13years old). Now she is often selected as one of the top rock singers in the world by famous music magazines in the United Kingdom and is called 'Queen' in the metal fandam. When Babymetal's songs are voted for popularity in Japan, 'Akatsuki' usually comes in first place.😀
Welcome to the world of Babymetal! They are one of the most amazing live bands, and they are now 14-year industry veterans. This song empowers girls to shed the traditional social double standard set for women, so they can be themselves and continue to blaze on, since the definition of an “ideal woman” is changing with the march of time. Babymetal is a fusion of J-pop and Metal, both in sound and culture. Genre is created by Babymetal, called “Kawaii Metal”, or cute metal. Suggestion: *Road of Resistance (Pia Arena MM 2023)* 🤘🦊
They invented the Cute-Metal Genre! Every song is different and mind blowing. Welcome to the Fox hole, enjoy your mind blowing journey... Road of Resistance, Papaya, Rondo of Nightmare. are among some of my favorites... They have so many killer songs. Enjoy!
It was one of the tricks that they used to bring female fans into their concerts. Dancing zo heavy metal and a complex fusion of different elements. It all followed one target. Get female fans into pur Metal concerts If we have female fans male fans will follow. And if we look at todays japanese metal groups they had success.
It is at the same time one of their mostly japan influenced songs. They invert a well known japanese fairy tale to change the story that the girls hated. You could say it was their first protest song. What genre zhey sing ? At the beginning they tried to create a Genre Kawai Metal. But in fact the genre does not matter. They are a well known entry drug into metal. And although they are more than 10 Years old they still do new Tricks. So they just üublished their first europe and UK Arens Tour for Mai.
Megitsune is female fox. Kitsune is fox. Megitsune is also slang for vixen, a scheming woman. The song is about female empowerment. There is a part that translates to Women are real actresses. Their hearts are crying while showing nothing on their face. The Fox has always been a symbol of Babymetal. This is a very old song. One of their first.
Song is about women having to play a role. Put on makeup and be beautiful. But, they have their own power and should not be underestimated! The name of the song translates to “Female Fox”. The “Fox God” is heavy in Babymetal lore.
Babymetal is mainly described as Kawaii-Metal (means Cute). But the contrast between the Kami-bands heavy music to the girl's likeable performance should make this kind of metal very accessible even for "haters"!!
Babymetal was created precisely for people like you, who don’t like metal or just didn’t listen to the right one for them. Well, for you except for two small characteristics, you aren’t a girl and you aren’t Japanese, that was the core motive of Babymetal, bring metal to girls who only listen to j-pop, but then they did too much of a good job and everyone no matter age or sex liked them, here we are 14 years later since it’s inception, doing world tours 😂 You got the video from “For the Fox God” channel, all of them have english subs, activate them and watch this video again… I was also surprised to find out this is a “women empowerment” song, except with great taste instead of nagging 😅 Welcome to the Foxhole.

It is one of their biggest songs, a retelling of an old fairy tale with a totally modified story. With this title they became one of the highlights of japanese feminism.
bro japonese music not anime music and the genre is metal or j-metal the only difference in the performance is that has choreograph and a woman is singing not a man, because if you remove the Choreograph and the SInger Su and put a man singing this would be just another Metal band in the world
@@Dragon-Believer i know that Anime Opning songs is great But what pissed me off is people Saying that a Song sound like Anime op Music just becuase an asian or japonese people singing.
5:11 Thanks for spotting this particular dance. That is a folklore dance, it even reminds me some of the dancing from the geishas. I would wish more people notice this small yet beautiful cultural showcase; shout out to their choreographer, Mikikometal. One reason I like this song so much is it's kinda a celebration of their cultural heritage (the music video adds even more folklore).
"Megitsune" is the Japanese word for a female fox. The song likens young women to foxes, with their reputation for deceit and trickery. It is a social commentary about how girls and women are expected by society to project beauty and happiness, and how they are forced to hide their pain and true feelings from the world in order to meet social expectations. That is the kind of deceit they are talking about. This was in 2016, when they were just still relatively unknown outside of Japan (though I did see them in Chicago that same year). The lead singer Su-metal was 18 or 19 (depending on if this was before December of that year), and Moametal and Yui-metal were 17 at the time. Yui would later leave for health reasons, and was eventually replaced with Momometal. The current lineup are all in their 20s now, and they have become internationally huge! The genre, by the way, is called "kawaii (cute) metal."
The genre is kawaii metal. I would suggest live performances of their songs Road of Resistance and Monochrome from their PIA Arena 2023 concerts, and Syncopation from their Legend MM 2024 concerts.

Feel."
In live shows BABYMETAL are supported by the Kami Band, each one of them a world class musician.
That's always a great comment! Thank you Mr. Grington🦊💕
@@AxeSwipe2011 I can understand why
@@yunametal344 Thank you so much☺🦊
Well they were founded to heal a specific japanese problem in the metal industry at tjat time several big male babds and aging male fans.
Not many people reacted to this version of the video, so I had to watch it haha
How did you even find this gem! Had forgotten TD had so many amazing close ups. Truly peak BM.
Don't think, feel...
Yes I listen to BABYMETAL every single day
It seems YT deleted my comment i left here when there was no other comments.
Your reaction....like so many others including my own never gets old.
lol
Enjoy the ride !
Tokyo Dome! Yes, very rare! Kawaii metal (cute) metal, just one of their all time favorite songs, along with Gimme Chocolate and Headbanger, their first songs. Only a small portion, lots more of Babymetal to see!
Not just Su's voice could pierce through heavy instrument sound wall, Moa and Yui were capable doing that as well.
I’d recommend Monochrome from The First Take. Piano not metal, but the clarity of Su and Moa’s voices is amazing.
Moa and Yui. I know, autocorrect is a pain. 😉
I was at this performance (both nights) an all I can say is - it was EPIC!! 55,000 sold out both nights! 🤟🏻🤟🏻
You need to check out the live version of their song "Road of Resistance".
More than half the time you look at yourself - wow!
Suggestion:
*Road of Resistance (Pia Arena MM 2023)*
🤘🦊
The Genre is called Kawaii-Metal, Kawaii is cute in japanese, totally summing it up^^.
They invented the Cute-Metal Genre! Every song is different and mind blowing. Welcome to the Fox hole, enjoy your mind blowing journey...
Road of Resistance, Papaya, Rondo of Nightmare. are among some of my favorites... They have so many killer songs. Enjoy!
Maybe say what you feel instead of what you know. Nice reaction!
Yui @ 8:47 very kawaii . BabyMetal so awesome . Nice reaction thank you .
Most Kawaii Metal person on planet Earth!
It was one of the tricks that they used to bring female fans into their concerts. Dancing zo heavy metal and a complex fusion of different elements. It all followed one target. Get female fans into pur Metal concerts
If we have female fans male fans will follow.
Vous avez MSFS2020 et vous écoutez BM, comme moi🤩J'ai alors hâte de voir votre réaction sur Monochrome, mon morceau préféré.
WELCOME TO THE FOX HOLE MY BRO
Megitsune is female fox. Kitsune is fox. Megitsune is also slang for vixen, a scheming woman. The song is about female empowerment.
There is a part that translates to Women are real actresses. Their hearts are crying while showing nothing on their face.
The Fox has always been a symbol of Babymetal. This is a very old song. One of their first.
+1 LIKE and SUB.
Nothing more needed to say.
BabyMetal Forever!! 🦊🦊🍅🦊
Only the Japanese can pull off this crazy combo with this perfection and grace
Song is about women having to play a role. Put on makeup and be beautiful. But, they have their own power and should not be underestimated! The name of the song translates to “Female Fox”. The “Fox God” is heavy in Babymetal lore.
Babymetal is mainly described as Kawaii-Metal (means Cute). But the contrast between the Kami-bands heavy music to the girl's likeable performance should make this kind of metal very accessible even for "haters"!!
Babymetal was created precisely for people like you, who don’t like metal or just didn’t listen to the right one for them.
Well, for you except for two small characteristics, you aren’t a girl and you aren’t Japanese, that was the core motive of Babymetal, bring metal to girls who only listen to j-pop, but then they did too much of a good job and everyone no matter age or sex liked them, here we are 14 years later since it’s inception, doing world tours 😂
You got the video from “For the Fox God” channel, all of them have english subs, activate them and watch this video again… I was also surprised to find out this is a “women empowerment” song, except with great taste instead of nagging 😅
Welcome to the Foxhole.
Metal Hater there a hundreds upon hundreds of genre's of metal. I guarantee that i could find you something you would love.
Let me recommend these 3 bands.
Aldious - Dominator live Radiant A at O East
Versailles - Revenant Choir live
And
Lovebites- Scream for Me live Daughters of the Dawn
It is one of their biggest songs, a retelling of an old fairy tale with a totally modified story. With this title they became one of the highlights of japanese feminism.
listen to babymetal road of resistance, there is an official live video of that song on yt!
bro japonese music not anime music and the genre is metal or j-metal the only difference in the performance is that has choreograph and a woman is singing not a man, because if you remove the Choreograph and the SInger Su and put a man singing this would be just another Metal band in the world
Anime music is a compliment. There is a lot of great anime music. It used to be an insult but now it's a compliment.
@@Dragon-Believer i know that Anime Opning songs is great But what pissed me off is people Saying that a Song sound like Anime op Music just becuase an asian or japonese people singing.
as a rule, silent e's are exclusively an english language thing. if you see an "e" in a foreign title, you should pronounce it. MEH-GEET-SU-NAY
YUI!!!!!
What are they saying?
Maybe you should watch the version with Eng subs. Oh wait…
We Are Not A Cult.
🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥
The last two words in your title are "English Subs". If you want the lyrics, all you have to do is turn them on.
Queen Su order, and you starts clapping your hands. welcome to the fox hole
just a question for metal haters, is it the heavy drum bass and guitar you hate or is it the vocals, or is it just a combination? just curious, i listen to everything that sounds good in my ears don't care much for genres :) if you plan on more babymetal i can recommend Sis. anger and monocrome, 2 of my favorites
next.. pizza time 🤘🤘
This is not tokyo dome. This is wembly arena day 1
