Man the 70’s were the Golden Years of tractor pulling! Grew up watching my dad with his whooped up 1206, big tires, narrow front end, a few tweaks to the engine set up, and all his other IH buddies go pull every weekend, sometimes twice in the same day in two different towns, if the towns were close enough. County Fairgrounds, StateFairgrounds, all over the Midwest, pulling the Hooterville Trolley or the Big Red Skids out the end of the track. Cajun Queen, Wompus Cat, John Sandoll, John Klug, Al Perry, and Chuck Wheatley winning all the Hot Rod classes, the whole crew of legends back there!

the 4020 with all the chrome was the Cajun Queen Sydenstricker's from Missouri.
Wow now that was really cool tractor pulling at its basic best! I remember when I was a young man on the farm in southeastern Indiana we used to go to the county fair every year with our two draft horses and get in the pulling competition there with the horses we actually won one year
as far as i can tell this was the start of compound turbos on john deere tractors this tractor is a 466ci as far as i can tell , the Sydenstricker's furnish the money and Van built the tractor and they had a winner . We never pulled against Van we just run one big charger and stock 404ci engine at that time if you were getting 500 to 600 hp out an engine you were doing great. We ran 12,000 lbs. class 5th gear at around 3000 rpm . we had a great time in around our area. thanks for the chance to tell about the tractor pulling a lot of the things we did to the 404 jd ci motor was used by john deere later in the years .

Eddie Horman yes. Sold to Ed Smith and became Red Alert. Was then sold to Iowa ran there a few yrs with same name and then sold back to Maryland to Will Puckett and renamed Kay's Delight. Hear its coming back out as a Hot or Pro Farm tractor soon. Thanks for watching.
