My mom just told me my dad was in this musical so I looked it up and found this. And what do you know I see him singing & dancing. Holy hell, what a trip 😂😂😂
As someone who had the honor to have worked with Elizabeth Swados, it is very sad when people just don't seem to realize that this was way before Spring Awakening and Rent. This was the first time musical theatre in NYC, on Broadway, was about the underbelly and subculture of the disenfranchised kids who run away. So you can spew your stupidity and venom all you want. The fact is, this woman changed many lives through her art and workshops with young people and adults. She made a difference. Have you made a difference? I was an ensemble member in the show "The Hating Pot". Which was performed at BAM and off-b'way , in Chicago and for PBS. We toured NYC schools for a year. The show was magic! It was half adults and half teenagers and we sung and spoke, danced and cried. We were collaberators, instruments through which Liz Swados showed the audience the ugly reality of bigotry and hatred. I have been blessed in my life and one of those blessings was a Woman named Elizabeth Swados, who taught me how to look at infinate possibility in every creative venture. Ilan Kwittken
The cast included Carlo Imperato from Fame (who you see in the beginning in a solo), Trini Alvarado (girl singing in the middle of the clip), and Kate Schellenbach from Lucious Jackson (barely see her at the end). It is being revived at City Center in NYC this summer.
to anyone hating on this show you don't what you're talking about I saw the production of this at city center encores last and it was one of the best actually the best show I have ever seen. Elizabeth Swados made this show really represent kids and how everyone thinks we don't know a thing when know a whole lot. this show was truly moving experience and it is my favorite show of all time. It is so sad that this show and Elizabeth Swados gets so little appreciation. like Sam Pinkleton, the director of the Encores production and the coreographer for great comet said there is the theater and there is the world Liz made this show be the world. thank you for uploading this is the only video we have of the original or any Broadway cast of this show wich I personally think is one of the best of all time
