We filled both ours cars up this last weekend. We’re ready for Milton to do whatever happens. Prayers non of us have any major damage and we’re all safe. We are in the C zone so we don’t have to leave either. The wait not knowing if we’ll be without electricity or possible flooding.
I've never heard of a cruise taking your luggage & storing it, tbh I don't think I'd be comfortable with that. If they had a suite then they'd have more storage space than anyone else so why were they "living out of their suitcases"?
I just got off the Carnival Vista. It was one of our best cruises. The staff was AMAZING! Best I've had in years. And doesn't everyone store bags under the bed? It's easy! Had a great time.

@@dudzinski324 I understand why you might think that. However, we are only forecasted to get tropical storm weather. We are over preparing mostly to set the minds of our friends and family at ease. Evacuating is always expensive and I am currently disabled, so we live on one paycheck. Also, it would be sort of selfish for us to evacuate. There are a limited amount of roads out of Florida and they are jammed packed with people who have to evacuate. Gas stations are running out of gas. Supplies along the routes are low. It is best we shelter in place. Thank you for your concern though. I hope you and your family are well.
We were at a college hockey game Saturday night and keeping an eye on the game (and updating the people around us). When it got to the last 2 minutes of the Vandy game, the student section (neither Alabama NOR Vanderbuilt) started chanting "let's go Vandy!"" Due to some amazing circumstances, I actually have cruised on Celebrity cruise, in the retreat. And, we had a Butler. While I really wasn’t comfortable letting him do it. he did indeed offer to unpack our suitcases. Also, the day before disembarkation he reminded us that if we would like him to come and pack our suitcases, he would be happy to do that. I would suppose there might be people who would let a butler unpack their suitcase for them. Sailing in the suite, especially in the retreat, has so many amazing amenities. Unpacking and repacking suitcases just seems over the top. I’m going again, over Thanksgiving, a different celebrity ship, but in the retreat. And no, I don’t think I’ll let the Butler unpack my suitcase. But he can bring me my specialty coffees every morning…
So sorry to see the storm after the storm! I have relatives in Jacksonville, Fl and they are also taking full precautions! we came home from Myrtle Beach last week we had to drive 4 hours in South Carolina and Georgia before we was able to to find gas and had to wait 45 minutes in line to get gas.
Hey Tony, I’ve sailed on Holland America Cruise Line three times once in a Vista Suite on the Veendam, and twice in a Neptune Suite on the Eurodam and Nieuw Statendam. On all three sailings the cabin steward has offered to take my luggage and store them and return them on the night before disembarkation without issue. Stay safe during the hurricane!

Even on Oceania and the Paul Gauguin we put our luggage under the bed. On the Heritage line, (which is a river cruise line), they did ask us if we wanted our suitcases stored in the hold, but there were only 13 cabins on the ship. I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to have to locate everyone’s luggage in a holding room on a large cruise ship.
On our first cruise (RCL) we unpacked and left our luggage standing in the room. Came back from dinner and luggage was gone! We thought it must be under the bed and it was. We thanked the steward in the morning.

Drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Valdosta GA yesterday. Took 4 hrs longer than normal. The Turnpike was jammed 10 Miles south of the Turnpike/I-75 interchange and all the way North of Gainesville.

Prior to Helene, one of the sheriffs in the Big Bend was asking people in evacuation zones who chose not to evacuate to get a magic marker and write their names, date of birth and social security number on their arms, to make identifying their bodies after the storm easier. Other sheriffs have had Deputies get contact info for the next of kin from those refusing to evacuate. Be safe people there are numerous shelters in every county a short drive from anywhere in each county, if you are in an evacuation zone or mobile home EVACUATE.
The storm actually got to 190 mph wind speed at one point yesterday and pressure @ 897 -- just a bit above the lowest Atlantic storm pressure ever (Wilma @ 882 in 2005).
I once had a suite on Celebrity that came with a butler. Booked the room for a special anniversary. The butler offered to pack and unpack us but I declined. He was AMAZING! What a week!
I've seen a few of the higher end lines have butlers and 24-hour concierge - I don't think I could think of enough things for them to do! Guess I'm not cut out for the high life! lol

I don't know about cruise ships; however, I saw a program that shared if you are invited to spend the night with the Queen (King now), someone will unpack your bags and make sure your clothes are pressed before hanging them up or storing in the dresser. They will repack your things in advance of departure, using tissue paper to minimize wrinkles. Sweet. Stay safe!

I believe the luggage storage room is over the rail. They set them there on the first night and if you’re lucky you can fish for your case on the last night.

Msc seascape yacht club has butlers and they will unpack your suitcase as me my wife just got off this past Saturday. She had the butler unpack her suitcase and she loved it. He even color coordinated her clothes and hanged them up.
We continue to wish you and your family the best as Milton approaches. This summer we took a three week vacation with the middle week being on the Oceania Regatta in Alaska. Need less to say we had to pack for three different environments. We had one large piece of luggage and the room steward gladly took the one large suitcase we had and stored it. We put our other two pieces under the bed. Along with not checking luggage for guns, another great reason we will never cruise with Carnival again...we are one and done with that cruise line.

I’m ADA cabins the beds are lower. Suitcases don’t fit. When we stayed in one the sofa was at an angle in a corner. We put them behind there.

We sailed mostly NCL Haven and I never allowed the butler to touched our stuff except bringing bags of dirty clothes to be laundered..

I believe the luggage storage room is over the rail. They set them there on the first night and if you’re lucky you can fish for your case on the last night.

Msc seascape yacht club has butlers and they will unpack your suitcase as me my wife just got off this past Saturday. She had the butler unpack her suitcase and she loved it. He even color coordinated her clothes and hanged them up.
We continue to wish you and your family the best as Milton approaches. This summer we took a three week vacation with the middle week being on the Oceania Regatta in Alaska. Need less to say we had to pack for three different environments. We had one large piece of luggage and the room steward gladly took the one large suitcase we had and stored it. We put our other two pieces under the bed.
Along with not checking luggage for guns, another great reason we will never cruise with Carnival again...we are one and done with that cruise line.
