- You're most welcome, glad the video was helpful for you. These wireless systems have some limitations like the one you pointed out but they are so well made that they just keep going and going!
- Thanks for your question. You'll need to give me a while to get back to you - I know how to solve this problem but will need to access the unit in order to confirm the procedure.
- Thanks for the question. Have you checked your batteries? The screen should come on as soon as you hold down the power button. If yours does not and the transmitter still functions, then you may have a dead LCD.
- Thanks for your question. I'm afraid I have no experience purchasing this type of equipment online and so cannot recommend a source. I would suggest contacting your nearest Sennheiser dealer or large music store.
- Thanks for the question. The 1st generation evolution wireless system is no longer in production so it's unlikely that you'll be able to buy replacement body packs, unless you buy them second hand. The newer body packs (G2 and G3 versions) are not compatible with the EW100 system. However, Sennheiser will, at least in Singapore, continue to repair this older equipment, so I suggest you look up your closest Sennheiser service centre from their website. All the best!
- Ok if that's the case you may have an issue with the transmitter itself. I would suggest finding another ew100 transmitter and setting it to the same frequency as yours to verify if the receiver is ok. If the new transmitter works, then yours will need to be sent for repair. From what you say this does not sound like operator error.
- Glad the video was helpful! Feedback destroyers can be very useful if they solve the problem without removing all the high frequency content of the signal.
- You're welcome. Yes, try installing a fresh alkaline battery and see if that fixes the problem. If the pack still functions you can continue to use it, although you won't be able to see any of your settings. Alternatively you can take it to your nearest Sennheiser service centre to get it repaired - they are quite good at standing behind their products and will repair products that are long-discontinued if they are able to get the parts.
thanks for the reply, the antennae are both connected to the receiver, the frequency is set in the right way on both the receiver and the transmitter, the battery is new
- You're welcome! Are you running just one set of wireless, ie one transmitter and one receiver? Are there any other wireless sets operating nearby or within the same building?
Thanks Bro. , I usually get at my church where I serve , sound signal less then -20db and I reprocesses it on my software but now I know how to settle the gain . Thanks again and God bless , your videos are really helpful.
Many thanks for your video! I've had these microphones for awhile and just recently ran into a problem which was resolved by watching your video! I had inadvertently dropped the transmitter to -20db not good for the spokeswoman using the mic. Many thanks again! Cheers Tim from Canada
- I would start out at -10dB, increasing to -20dB for loud speakers or those who shout/get excited. You can always bring the level up at your mixer but if the sound is distorting at the beltpack you have a mess on your hands.
- Thank you. On the the LCD screen you will notice two indicators - the top one for RF and the bottom one for AF. Is your RF bar still full (ie all the way to the right of the screen) when the drop outs happen? Or does it drop to just one or two bars? Also, does the drop out happen all the time once you pass 5 meters or is it intermittent?
Hi I need to replace the mic cable (with mic heads) on the G2 transmitter. I am using Omni mics. Please indicate a source from which I could order them online and have them shipped to me.
Hi our church has, what looks like two of these systems rack mounted - this is the first info I have found anywhere on these older systems, running at 846 MHz (in the UK) which is a legally free level, only 1 mic and it does not work. Is it possible to buy replacement body packs and will their newer body packs work (i.e. the G3) with the old receivers?
Thanks brother. I could know the differences between cardoid and omni directional mics. I just want to know if it is a good idea to use feed back destroyers to prevent feedback. Thank u.
- Thank you. However I cannot promise when I will be able to get back to you. If you need a solution urgently I suggest you contact the Sennheiser representative for your country.
- I have just uploaded a video that should help you to solve your issue, it's called 'How to reprogram transmission frequencies on the Sennheiser Evolution 100 wireless system.'
Nice Video sir. i have the same setup transmitter & Body Pack Receiver can u tell me its AF out is Stereo or Mono because my Nikon D7500 Show Single Channel of audio. i am waiting your reply.
It will be mono for sure because there is only one signal. However it may be able to be switched to dual mono where it outputs the same signal to both L&R channels.
Hi,I need help as i have bought two pairs of EW-100 used mics.i cannot match the frequencies. One of the transmitter shows 790.000, 800.500, 801.000 822.000 2nd Transmitter shows 630.000 ,661.650, 662.000, 650.750 First receiver shows 750.000, 741.000, 740.000 ,742.975 I am having problem I dont know how to match receivers with respective transmitter.Awaiting ur help. Hello Bruno i have microphone sennheiser ew100g3 the problem is RF signal is coming weack. The audio signal is normal but RF signal when you go little far away is decreasing.
I have the same body pack transmitter & receiver. The antenna is beat up but still works. I'm looking for new antennas but have had no luck. Do you have a source for them?
Buen vídeo Quisiera saber si el plug de entrada hacia el emisor debe ser necesariamente estéreo o puede ser mono Y también si puede ser usado para conectar una guitarra eléctrica en vez de micrófono?
For a microphone is needs to be stereo (ie balanced) because it uses one of the terminals to power the microphone. Yes you can also connect an electric guitar - for more info on how to do that see the owner's manual for the correct cable.
have the same setup.......but lately there seems to be an issue with the communication between the transmitter and receiver. I have synced them to the same frequency band , but can't get any signal through. Please can anyone help out here with this situattion
There are many reasons why this might happen - the transmitter may be muted or too close/too far from the receiver, the antennas may be faulty or disconnected, or there might be strong interference on the transmitting frequency.
Sir, I'm using the same wireless microphone. And it really sounds good. But i have a little problem, every-time i turn it off (the microphone) it creates a loud RF noise. Any idea how to fix this? Newbie Sennheiser user here.
It sounds to me like you need to adjust the squelch control on the receiver - basically this will mute the receiver output when no RF input is detected.
Got it Sir, Big thank you to you! One more thing, is there anyway, I can monitor the battery life of my g1 Sennheiser Mic while the show is running? It's not indicating on the mic.
BRUNO I HAVE A QUESTION WHEN I HOOK UP MY EW 100 TO MY MIXER THE RED LIGHT COMES ON IN THE CHANNEL THAT I HAVE IT PLUG INTO WHICH CAUSES ALOT OF STATIC ITS LIKE I HAVE HAVE SOMETHING NOT PLUGED RIGHT. IT JUST STARTED THIS ABOUT A MONTH AGO BUT DOES NOT DO THAT EVERYTIME IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I HAVE MY GAIN WAY DOWN OR NOR NEED HELP THANKS
Definitely check your cables to see if there is a short somewhere, also try changing your transmission frequency in case there is some interference on the existing channel.
Hello, I have just bought a EW100 G1 and found your video very useful. It may be a daft question but can I plug a hand held dynamic or battery powered condenser mic into the transmitter?
+Michael HASTED Hmm, I've never tried this before but theoretically it's possible, using an XLR female to minijack connector. A better solution would be to simply buy the plug on transmitter that Sennheiser sells which is designed for this purpose.
+GLB Productions Thanks for that, I'll give it a try if you don't think it will do any harm. The problem with the plug-in transmitter which, as you say, is the ideal solution, is that they cost over £250
+GLB Productions I assume you mean balanced or unbalanced. Looking at the cable I have, it is not marked. There is what looks like a normal 3.5mm stereo at one end and a female XLR at the other. How do I know if it's balanced or not? What should it be for the EW100? Can it do any harm if wrong? Thanks for being so patient, I do appreciate it. Michael
+Michael HASTED It should be wired for balanced operation ie tip to XLR pin 2, ring to pin 3 and sleeve to pin 1. In order to determine if it's actually wired like this you'll need a cable tester, multimeter with continuity function or just disassemble the connectors and match the wires.
- With wireless you tend to get what you pay for, and cheap wireless systems can be very frustrating and cause more problems than they solve. How many channels of wireless do you need to run simultaneously?
I know what you mean... i could start with just one channel, however running two channels simultaneously would be great.... i was reading some reviews about the Azden WLX-PRO Lavaliere System that is not so cheap, but someone still say it hasn't a good sensitivity and you have to speek loudly. i swa the Azden WLX-PRO Lavalier Mic Kit VS. Sennheiser EW 100 G3 review... Is there any chance to get a better audio editing it with a software to clear the noise a little bit? Probably a cheaper choice to have a great sound quality would be recording the audio and then match it to the video...i don't know how difficult this could be...if the camera is not even recording the same sound of the scene it could be a mess.
- Sensitivity can usually be adjusted, and all good wireless systems use companding (compression and expanding) in order to ensure decent results within a given range. The transparency of this companding circuit is one of the reasons good wireless systems cost so much. I would not resort to post-processing to clean up audio unless it was damaged or recorded in less than ideal circumstances - start with a good system to begin with. If you can't afford a decent wireless system, go wired to start with and upgrade when you have the money, it'll sound much better. Matching the audio and video is not that difficult as long as you plan for it in advance and have some sort of audio marker that can be used to align the signals. An old-style clapper board can be used, or just clapping your hands together!
Nice.... If i have two people with two different mic.. too close to each other what could you do? Is there a way to pickup almost only your voice?Probably in that case i should use only one audio track...
- There are a couple of solutions - either use just one mic, as they do in interviews, or gate the two sources so that only one mic is on at any given time. This will prevent destructive interference between the two sources.
- Connect an XLR cable from the output of the wireless receiver to a microphone input on your mixer - connection complete :) Gain should be set as shown in my video How to set gain on the mixing console Hope that answers your question.
As someone who purchased a first generation EW100 transmitter and receiver second-hand, I found this video quite useful.
Glad the video was helpful!

Really enjoying your themes
Thanks Eric.
Thanks for the video, it sure helped a lot learning the differences between the two kinds of clip on mics! Greetings from Germany! :)
- You're welcome, glad the video was helpful. Hope the weather is not too cold over there this time of year :)
. Hi Mr. Bruno, thanks for the great video and explanation
+ceejay music You're most welcome.
thanks for the answers and for giving me your time
Great Job Bruno! We are blessed ;-) with such a accurate review! Thanks
You're most welcome my friend.

I had the same problem, some time ago. Changing the battery solved the problem. You probably know that by now, but ok.
my ew 100 loses the rf signal just 5 meters away, what's the problem??
The Chaiya brand has a similar mic setting system at the base of their mics too..
Brian Morris Yes, it's a good place to put the switch - out of the way yet still easy to access.
Nice Video sir.

hello my question is how to stop coming interference from the phone during the event?
Try changing to a different frequency.
Thanks, very helpful!

Hi any ideas where I could find a replacement antenna for these units?
Thanks for the video.
Your local Sennheiser dealer should have them :)

@@GLBProductions i change group and frequency but still the same problem
great job man.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the reply! i changed batteries and it wasn't working so i guess its toast! :) thanks though!
I have the same body pack transmitter & receiver. The antenna is beat up but still works.
I'm looking for new antennas but have had no luck. Do you have a source for them?
Contact Sennheiser in your country and ask them to send you the part directly, they are generally good at supporting their legacy products.

thank you
Mohamed Nur No worries.
thanks

If I recall correctly there is just a low battery warning light on this model - when it flashes change your battery ;)
Got it. Where can I see it, on the mic, or on the receiver?
On the mic - it's the red light on the bottom, underneath that rotating cover.

- Connect an XLR cable from the output of the wireless receiver to a microphone input on your mixer - connection complete :) Gain should be set as shown in my video How to set gain on the mixing console Hope that answers your question.
the rf signal disappears completely, the PLL is released
or indeed a new handheld radio mic!
2nd receiver shows 740.000, 740.025 , 745.525, 772.000
So what should I use for self defense if the gongress riots? XD
Great tutorial! Thank you!
