I am a suuuuper flawed individual, but I take consolation in the fact that I know that Mother Mary and God the Father both appreciate the effort I make in prayer, no matter how imperfect.
I personally can't meditate at all while doing my Rosary. Something about reciting and thinking at the same time just don't work out so well in tandem. That said! I've instead taken to thinking of it in a sacrifice of my time. I could be playing a game, or scrolling my phone, or even talking to a loved one, but instead I made the conscious effort to pray my Rosary, whether it's for 20 minutes or an hour, depending on how many sets of mysteries I do. So I instead offer each decade in "honor" of each mystery.
I have a difficulty meditating on each mystery throughout reciting the prayers as well. Sometimes I use a little book that has a short paragraph on each mystery and I read that paragraph in my head while I pray the rosary out loud. It might sound difficult, but after a decade or so it becomes second nature. Kind of like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time.
This has started happening at night I will be praying the rosary and fall asleep. My Angels finish my rosary for me. AND NOW, even in the morning. I get so relax I just feel like I am in Heaven. Last year I prayed 1-5 rosaries daily. Maybe I am a little ill, will see. In the meantime, I keep praying and realized I need to bring Jesus presence in every bead I pray. I need Jesus presece in my rest too. Thank You Lord for guiding me today.
Father Daniel McCaffery has a great talk about how to pray the Rosary, and it made my Rosary so much more enticing and enjoyable, and grace giving. To summarise: The Meditation is not the end of the Rosary, mental Prayer to our Lord, in relation to the Meditation, is. Say we're doing the Annunciation. We first meditate on the mystery while praying the Hail Marys, then once we've got the Mystery concretely understood and recognised as a series of events, we both understand to what it means and make prayers within our thoughts during it. Say if I noticed that during the Annunciation, Mary was fully open to the will of God in a very human way, we ask Mary to intercede for us to bring us to be fully open and faithful to God. If we notice God's love of Mary, we ask for that love in ourselves. If we remember that we may have foulmouthed Mary or Annunciation's Mystery, we apologise to the Holy Spirit for disgracing his spouse. We Thank the Lord for the Incarnation, etc. This got me out of a major rut with the Rosary, and made mine far more fruitful.
As a recent revert who can't help but look in dismay upon my lapsed Catholic family, I REALLY needed to hear that bit about "God wants you more than He wants to use you." Beautiful and healing, thank you!
Sometimes halfway we realise that we are only saying the prayers mechanically, but the great thing about the Rosary is that it will eventually keep you on track and you will be called to focus in prayer.
Yes, this an experience I often can share. Praying the rosary with the best focus intentions makes you veer off and after some repetitions I wonder where have I left the track. Then Oh Lord, sorry please get me focused again. This may happen all along the rosary until something gets straight - not always - but sometimes. Eventually I had an "old" question regarding faith, teaching or some difficult situation - and there it is - the light, giving a spot-on what is important, a hint to some other part in the gospel or prayer or church history and the gap is closed. Eventually I learn about some hidden behavior, which spoilt my understanding, ruined the reaction. Then, ----- He talks .............. focusing on and off sometimes is Him to smile, He clearing His throat and my mind and heart.
If the heart wanders or is distracted, bring it back to the point quite gently and replace it tenderly in its Master's presence. And even if you did nothing during the whole of your hour but bring your heart back and place it again in Our Lord's presence, though it went away every time you brought it back, your hour would be very well employed." -St. Francis de Sales
I'm no perfect trad I go to a few Novus Ordo Parishes, but I gotta say Praying the Rosary in Latin has been a game changer because I'm not focusing on the words. I still don't know the creed and the closing prayer, but I have all the prayers on a little paper, and you get the repeated prayers down pretty quick
Amazing interview! Could you please clip the part where they discuss penal substitutionary atonement? That was probably the best part of the interview, thanks! 🙏😁

If you tend to become more engaged with your imagination, place yourself in the mystery as a character(Ignatian style) That's helped me personally, though I still really struggle.
I sometimes feel as though I'm wearing a high, tight collar whilst I'm praying the Rosary when I'm not at all. I fall asleep too or start jabbering in my mind.
I'm an ex-atheist praying 5-10 rosaries a day while watching the news for the world. I don't do the mysteries usually. If I get to Heaven, I'll ask if my prayers helped.
At the end of the day, We can rely on the fact that if we're in the State of grace (Confession of mortal sins), we can be at union with God, I'm not even Catholic but by the grace of God he might allow me to come into communion with him and receive the Holy sacraments, It's frustrating me that the local parish of mine doesn't actually care about the eternal destination of souls as there is no preaching and no teaching about the actual faith in which is believed I'm now looking into SSPX which is I think the only way forward for me and for the Love of God in me, I have no catholic family and need to find a Godmother and Godfather strong in the faith which is going to be so difficult in my area, We forget the greatest commandment is to love each other as ourselves and this means telling the truth about things (Marriage, Confession, Communion) It's not optional! I have an unbelieving family and I hope that God through me can open their hearts to the truth of the Gospel so they may be saved
I'm halfway through RCIA and the rosary is still pretty confusing for me. I try to practice at Adoration since it's quiet and there's no distractions, and I've got a couple pamphlets explaining the process, but it's still awkward. I don't have the Hail Mary memorized yet, so I have to read it line by line and then try to think about the Mysteries afterward (assuming I can figure out the right ones to do). What I tend to do at home in my personal prayer at night is simply hold the rosary, start off with an Our Father, and then just go about my normal prayers. I'm really scatterbrained and my mind wanders a lot, but I find that holding the rosary makes it easier for me to concentrate on talking to God.
I am looking for a short video with Matt talking about how when you pray the rosary with your kids you don’t want it to be perfect. Instead, you want them to feel like they are in front of a warm fire. Is there a “short” with him saying this?
It is interesting when praying the Rosary I was of course focusing in the mystery and seeing Jesus (in my mind) but the hail Marys were adressed to Mary so that is a bit hard to sort of see Jesus in Judaea with his disciples and everything in the mystery and then have to sort of shift to focus on Mary who is nowhere in sight. I suppose I'll just have to look for her next time. Maybe Jesus has her eyes.
somthing i try is not imagining the whole seen playing out but instead take a screenshot of what ihe mystery is and focus on that picture. for example: if your meditating on the crucifixion, what i do is imagine a cross with Jesus on it and its over the earth so i just envision that picture instead of treating it like a scene with a bunch of moving parts. much easier to meditate that way.
. So to understand what was happening at the time. The scene is 1163 a movement was started in France, particularly Southern France. St Dominic was born a little after this heresy took off in 1170 in Spain. The heresy focused on spirit over body. St Dominic moved from Spain to France when Pope Innocent The Third told him and Bishop Diego De Acebo to go convert the heretics sometime after 1204. This heresy was proven difficult to combat. The Albigensian heresy, which I forgot to name. So St Dominic had a dream. In that dream he was given the idea by the Blessed Virgin Mary for what is now known as the rosary. He went around preaching trying to use his new device to convert them back. It didn’t take off until one of his students, but the heresy was all but finished. If you recall one of the promises was to protect against heresies and it still does. At least I think it does.
The rosary started out as a way for poor people without a Bible to remember the life of Christ and to ask the Mother of Christ to walk with them on their journey. It was called the Marian Psalter.
@@halleylujah247 but with what Christ said in the gospels, Mary has nothing to do with a Christians journey to be saved, in Ephesians 2:8 Paul said “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as an result of works, so no man can boast” also Christ said that no one comes to the Father but through him. Ask your Guardian Angel and your favorite Saints to pray with you. They will. And ask them to pray for you to pray well.
