At this point I just want to cry. As a new collector, every time I feel like I've finally hit the point of having the _in print_ Omnis that interest me, YT recommends another of Omar's videos which reel me back in 😭 Guess this is on my list for next month 😔 Seriously though, loving collecting and the great work Omar does with reviewing these titles
Really want to pick this one up. It looks like a lot of fun. Jeff Parker is underrated. Disappointed Marvel didn't slap his name on the book as he wrote just about all of it. It's more than just a "era." It was his vision. His mini Aquaman run after Johns' is super good too. Take care and peace everyone.
I would really love a standalone Avengers Academy omnibus. Should be able to do it in one. I really think its a great, though easily overlooked, title. The Fear Itself crossover issues were crossover issues done well.
As much as I have come to adore the Mutants, Thunderbolts v1 was hands down my favorite team book of my second big-2-read through; looking forward to this one
Looking forward to this but the completionist in me really needs that gap filled with the Ellis etc stuff. Make it happen please Omar - you know you can!!
I finished chasing town all of the trades for this time period probably about a month before the Omnibus was announced! Classic! And some were not cheap 🤣
I tend to like Jeff Parker but I've never read this run, might have tp pick it up. Thanks, Omar, great review. Hope we can get the Ellis run in an omnibus at some point.
Love the Mega Print factory! The books from there that I have lay over nicely and the bleed thru is minimal. I haven’t been buying the Thunderbolts books but this looks great for fans!
Love that book design. Feels dirty and rusty haha, I dig it. This is definitely an underrated era of thunderbolts. Can’t wait to pick this up. Well done overview Omar !
Since most of this Thunderbolts operate out of a prison I believe the outside of the book is suppose to look like a prison wall with the Thunderbolts symbol placed on it.
I'll be getting this even though I think Jeff Parker is a very mediocre writer but I'm a Thunderbolts completionist. What I really want is the Warren Ellis and Mike Deodato Jr era in Omnibus format!
One I’m really excited about. Got really pumped seeing all those Kev Walker pages up front. Great job running down the premise-hope that folks see it and check out the book.
Full confession....I had no interest in this but Kev Walker & your overview have me very intrigued & excited for this. This looks bizarre & very quirky/exciting. I'm gonna order this now. Can't wait.
@@NearMintCondition good, thank you brother. My son is 1 and a half now. You gave me great advice just before he was born that really stuck with me. Crazy how time flies. I didn't even know this came out this soon! I was just the other day looking for Juggernaut related comic stuff and was curious if any Omnibuses were done with material of his...and POOF saw this and got very excites. Talk about timing! I'm gonna be honest though, that behind the scenes info of what was originally going to be the other cover....then changed ...makes me fairly annoyed. That group shot looked AMAZING and moody, having a bunch of the characters all grouped up.. Luke Cage front & center, Juggernaut being there in his iconic attire. Not a fan of the one they switched to, with the ugly white background and just kinda bland group VS group shot? Plus that original pick showed off a great variety of the characters that are not on either of the covers that they went with.....tch...corporate decision making often elude me...
Pass for me I loved the original run plus the Ellis stuff which I just recently got lucky in getting both HC’s for decent price which is my final buys for the Thunderbolts after the Ellis/Bendis DA run I’m done with em so major pass for me.
It's really irritating how they're ignoring Ellis's work on the book (along with all the other creators who worked on the books), just like they did with Moon Knight. Yes, I know Ellis is problematic these days, and I'm not discounting that. But it's getting a little silly. It's not like he's the first comics creator to ever exhibit bad behavior.
@@Robd07 you are correct marvel is good for not cancelling omnis. Dc on the other hand rarely puts out decent omnis and has a tendency to cancel them, I see they are doing compendiums now which might be a decent alternative
This is the series that lost me. I loved the Thunderbolts except the Fight Club. From here on it, this series is totally Marvel's Suicide Squad. I realize that's where Warren Ellis turned the series too
Greg Land...yuck. Still don't know how he still gets work. I guess marvel doesn't care about him plagiarizing other's art and reusing his own. Marvel paying for speed.
@@dbsasuke he's not good lol. He plagiarizes. He takes others art and uses it as his own with some adjustments. He traces from pornography. And reuses his own art and just flips the sides. And even just replaces characters within the same poses.
Disappointingly basic hardcover and an uninspired ink-stanis design. You could do it be better, Marvel!! But hey, maybe we#;l get that neat art from Dark Avengers connecting covers when they reprint it, in 10 years time.. Thanks for the preview Omar.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Omar knows how to sell a book. His passion for comics is undefeated

Hey do I need to read any of the other thunderbolts or can I read this as is ?
Underrated era. Really enjoyable comics. Always enjoyed Jeff Parker’s work. Don’t see him on much these days
I was thinking the same thing, always liked his comics, too bad we don't see much from him anymore.
He’s doing a lot for Dynamite now. Even penciling Action Figure covers for Gargoyles Dark Ages and writing Negaduck
@@ianmelton3688 Very cool, I like Dynamite a lot but haven't looked too closely at what they're doing lately. Thank you.
I’m hoping we can get the omnibus that will fill the gap.

Oh wow! Agents Of Atlas Omnibus, I thought I was the only one hoping for that content to be collected one day haha
I think it's a solid era for the Thunderbolts that more people should discover. Thank you for the video.
Jeff Parker is a great writer and did a wonderful job on this Thunderbolts run. I placed an order after watching this video, thanks for covering it!
I would really love a standalone Avengers Academy omnibus. Should be able to do it in one. I really think its a great, though easily overlooked, title. The Fear Itself crossover issues were crossover issues done well.
I love that book. Hope for an omni too
I just picked up the series on hardcovers... so you're welcome when they announce the Omni soon.
I JUST sold this entire run in trades and now this is coming...thats love right there 🤣
And dropping on my birthday as well?!

Why not do a Thunderbolts omni vol. 4 with the Seige storyline? I would buy it immediately. This one, I am on the fence with.

Madman called, he wants his cover design back
Mike Allred called wondering why the hell Madman is taking credit for his designs!

My favorite team book of all time
This is a must get
Hopefully we get a thunderbolts vol 1 reprint
I appreciate this overview because now I'm confident at stopping with volume 3.
Let’s go Omar!!!! Man how can your boy get on one of them panel shows u be doing
Memories 🙂
Where is the Ellis run?! That is by far the best run on Thunderbolts.
It would be fun to see 4023 Hyperion get wrecked in Omnibus format!
Does this omnibus include the stuff in that thunderbolts dark reign trade coming out this week? Great review as always. The best in the game.
No it doesn’t. It collects the era after that.
Hey brother, I hope you’ve been well. This would be considered volume 5. Four would contain Ellis, Diggle, Gage and Siege from Parker.

Disappointing that they used the mark bagley cover instead of the double page spread that they showed in the book.

I would like to own this, but without the Ellis era I'm afraid I'm not going to understand a single page. I don't understand why skip that era.
Omar hey don’t need to read anything before this or can I just read this as is ?
Is this right after the Dark Avengers OHC?
Correct. After Siege.
Did he said Zatanna ?
No, I said Satana. The devil’s daughter.
New avengers vol 2?
