- Lineside viewing of Crewe Basford Hall is available again now the construction company next door have vacated the land adjacent to the fence-line.
See a busy spell for the yard with plenty of loco moves and loco types visible.
A question.. Does anyone know which class 47 has appeared at the head of the class 86's stored at the southern end of the yard..? It's appeared from somewhere in the last 1-2 weeks and not moved since.
Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching.

050 has been left to rot for years now considering it has been there longer than 86251 (recently disposed of) apparently rumours of a proposed upgrade to see some of the 86's return but there isn't much behind that. Nice video either way
Good video of old-school locomotive action as this must be the only place in the UK for it nowadays! 😎🥰
It's 47830 that's come up from Southampton after doing route learning.
Thanks - I’d missed that 👍
Heartbreaking to see 90150/ 90050 sat there in a wreck. Her first trip to Ipswich ended up with her taking a failed IC to Norwich. She was still pristine in the cab & Norwich Driver was agog at how different she was to an 86.
Is it being used as a Christmas tree-effectively for spare parts?
Yes. It was replaced by 016.
Excellent footage from Crewe Basford Hall yard. Wish them class 86s would work again.
That poor 90 and all those 86s left to rot
90050 was an electrical failure many years ago and replaced by 016.
Amazing
Sadly, any loco that is laid up for any length of time becomes a "Christmas Tree" of parts for others that may be stopped for minor defects. The result is a hulk that becomes uneconomic to repair.,
All those. 86s just when we have too many diesels under the wires.
hi there, great video, pity about the 90 just lying there, more than likely down to clown activity by someone in the dept, those 86s need to be covered up or put in a shed
It was an electrical failure many years ago. Not sure why the clown comment was necessary.
It's said that Freightliner are going to overhaul the 86s and press them back into service
Hope so however I’d think it’s more likely they’ll end up with Sims or Booths unfortunately.
Oh no
👍
The birthplace of some of the westerns eg western lady
Wasn’t that 90 caught in a fire?
90050 was, yes.
Nice. Where's this filmed from?
Says in the title basford hall yard
Hi, building works have finished so access to the perimeter fence is available again. It’s by the Boughey warehouse.
Is this easy to get to from the station please?
@@garycreak5632 About a 30 minute walk
that's 47830
Thanks Eric 👌👍
Rip
sad one a cannibalised class 90
It was replaced by 016.
