I'm 60. Tried everything since being diagnosed at 29. Long story short, what's helped me the most is carnivore for 6 months. After my gut stabilized I worked back in non reactive foods. If i got a reaction I knew not to eat it. If no reaction I ate small amounts. This is where I am now. Non reactive foods are squash, peas, green beans, only fresh cut onion, bone stock (homemade), kefir, dark chocolate, again small amounts. Onions grow mold quickly so if i cut one i ate it immediately or cooked it. All foods are organic, grass fed, i have hens for eggs. I suspect our fruits and vegetables are both poisoned with roundup, and genetically modified and this is why it makes me sick. I am feeling better than i did when I was in my teens. Not 100% but better than when i ate vegetarian, vegan, paleo, fodmap, etc... and all the other diets.

@julieellis6793 I get bored and am concerned about the mRNA vaccines that will be put in livestock soon. This new technology is not just for humans. I also get constipated too easily, so I'm trying to stroke a balance. I think I need some plant material for a healthy microbiome.

I’m glad I’ve found your science-backed videos on Hashimoto’s. I’m 64, a registered dietitian, food editor, and foodie diagnosed with Hashimoto’s years ago in my early 40s. Every doctor I’ve been to says I need to stop eating gluten. A friend constantly berates me for not doing so, as she also has Hashimoto’s and has cut out gluten (personally, I’ve not heard her say it has benefited her in any way except that she lost weight). Thank you for your balanced perspective. Cutting out foods will impact my love of eating and cooking. Essentially, my enjoyment of life. I agree 100 percent that chasing numbers is not productive, especially when I found I felt better when my doctor freaked out when my TSH was “low” and she said I was hyperthyroid. Now it’s back up, due to lowering my medication, and I have zero energy and have gained 20 pounds. No one ever bothered to ask how I was feeling.

Great info! I was full on Keto for a few years but have shifted to Paleo/Mediterranean. Learning keto taught me good eating habits. I feel better adding in small amounts of QUALITY carbs. Cutting out eggs, mainly yokes dropped my thyroid antibodies from 900 to below 200. I was bummed as eggs are nutrient dense. I Had to add in small amount of iodine after cutting out eggs, this small loss of iodine showed up in my thyroid labs immediately. Keep plugging away people!

    Great information!
I get what you are saying about gluten, but what about the idea that its consumption can be a trigger for various other autoimmune diseases besides hashimotos?
I went 100% gluten, dairy, and soy free when I found out I have tpo antibodies (plus only mildly elevated TSH with other thyroid markers normal) because of strong family history of hashimotos (both sisters) and other autoimmunity in grandparents and parents. Sometimes I feel like maybe I'm being too overly cautious. My tpo antibodies are not very high; being GF for 2 years lowered them from 70 to 50. And my symptoms of fatigue, etc were actually from extremely low ferritin.
But I see relatives with other autoimmune conditions like ulcerative colitis and I'm trying to prevent that.
But I do feel kind of food obsessed most of the time.

I was going to supplement with lugol iodine but don't want to risk getting too much iodine in case i have enough...?
Also i guess if i take half of Brazil nut with all three of my main meals(which has inositol in it) it would be a good option instead of having have to buy a supplement. Also more bio available natural form possibly.

I've heard from other doctors as well as you that a Paleo diet is good for Autoimmune caused hypothyroidism, which is what I have, but in the government articles that you posted. One article says to have a lot of plants instead of a lot of meat. Along with my Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, I also have gall stones. After being a Vegan for over a year and eating a lot of soy, I have now no soy at all and no dairy or wheat, because of the lack of protein, due to excluding soy, I have now reintroduced Fish, Turkey, Chicken and once a week Steak, as well as eggs once a week. When I was eating like this before, I had high cholesterol. After going on the vegan diet, I no longer needed cholesterol pills. I image I will need to take them again now that I am eating meat. Is there a way I can have one day a week with just vegan foods? If so which ones? I also am confused about lectins. I've read that Kelly Clarkson had autoimmune Hypothyroidism and got rid of it by lowing lectins. I'm not sure that diet would work for me due to my gall stones. I really like my plain cheerios or oatmeal in the morning. I can't seem to go to the bathroom without it. I also have IBS with constipation.

I also need to improve my osteoporosis and osteopaenia. Also not having gluten avoids any other AI related diseases. So I would suggest to continue gluten free diet forever. So much choice these days, though expensive.

  • @fidrewe99

What about the cases where ultrasound finds evidence of hashimoto´s, but no hypotyriosm is present. Do these cases belong to the 20% with "TPO only" or to the 5% with "TPO + ultrasound"? Also the fact that only 25% of hashimoto patients have hypothyrioism at one moment does not mean that the remaining 75% will never develop hyptohyrioism, right?
If only hyptohyrioism is a problem with hashimoto´s, why do so many people with the desease with a perfectly functional thyroid gland experience a wealth of problems? I wouldn't care about hashimoto´s, if I was not suffering immensely.

Seems to me if you feel better not being on the meds that maybe you should listen to that? Have you tried desiccated thyroid? ❤

I hope you will! Standard process is good, but there are lots of good glandulars out there. My chiropractor is putting me on a parasite cleanse, as he says that parasites cause auto immune disease, and he says I’ve got them!

    • @DrRuscioDC
      @DrRuscioDC  7 місяців тому

T3 is a metabolite of T4, T3 does not tell one about Hashimoto's.
