+Edison Carmona This song has *NEVER* been sung in its original key. The 2003 versions you speak of are three half steps down from the original key. This 2014 performance is five half steps down. Vocal range for singers can become more limited the older a singer becomes. Even in 2002, the studio version was sung in separate takes and Tony hates it, thus why it was taken down three half steps even in early stuff such as the Songs of Silence live album. Tony sounds better when signing in a comfortable range. Look for 2002 versions of Weballergy, and the high notes (particularly in the chorus) sound like squeaks. Then look for the 2005 Ankkarock performance, which is sung in a lower key, and allows Tony to sound way better. It's all on UA-cam.
Thank you very much for the explain. I explain myself wrong, and I got wrong with the dates (2003 - 2005) I don't tried to say "original version", I tried to say just how you say that Tony sang it at Songs Of Silence. It's curios that Wolf and Raven album version was recorded in separate takes, I didn't know it. I can understand that Tony can't sing how his young years but I like to think that he still can sing Wolf and Raven as in Songs of Silence. However, Ankkarock performance is very good for me, specially Weballergy, I love how Tony sang it.
+Edison Carmona That performance should be mid to late 2003, because you have Henrik in the band, which puts the performance after Winterheart's Guild recording. You can actually hear Tony struggle a bit in that performance. That version is three and a half steps down (same as Songs of Silence). Keep in mind that we don't have a professional recording of the five half steps down version, and that it's hard to judge quality based of a phone recording. I actually prefer the deeper versions, just like the Weballergy version I recommended. Let's Tony can control his voice much easier, letting the melody shine through even more. The song is good regardless of the key it's being played in. This is closer to Tony's natural voice, which is raspier and not as high. He's no Kotipelto.
@@DorimiPrism You're right, Tony's voice is more natural in his other songs, even he said it on a interview. Why Wolf and Raven was recordered in that vocal technique? Anyway, was a good election, I can't imagine that song whit Tony's "natural voice"

Why Tony doesn't tries to sing it like the original version? As in the past like 2003 - 2005 days

And for me, this is the most proximity to the studio version: ua-cam.com/video/Qu087oXIiO8/v-deo.html Do you know when and where was it?
