Amy and Marc from Chateau de Rosieres en Vivarais , Ardeche are living that life with their two beautiful children Clement and Juliette.
I am so glad that you found a beekeeper to come out at last! And who knew he would be so helpful in taking up the floor as much as he has! Saved you a lot of work! Lol
So huge it expanded and made two hives. That’s often when they are seen as “swarming”, when in fact they have outgrown the current hive and create another. I watched it happen at my own property, my next door neighbors hive decided they needed to move and expand- in to a tree in my yard. While they were out of town no less. I found it interesting to watch, they were so busy they didn’t pay any attention to me nearby. Fascinating creatures.

Watching that bee-keeper remove those massive hives was fascinating to say the least. Never really knew how it was done. He was so patient; his movements deliberate and methodical. Thank you, Dan, for doing the kind thing by saving those valuable bees. Yes, I do hope you get lots of honey in return. Nicely done ✅.
Bees are protected all over Europe, in some countries it is mandatory to call local authorities when you find a hive, so that they can send a beekeper to collect them. You'll be fined if caught destroying a bee hive.
I did not know what the purpose of blowing smoke on bees was so I looked it up. When the bees are disturbed they release a pheromone that the other bees smell and they go on the defensive and attack. With the smoke it masks the pheromone providing the bee keeper time to safely take care of the bees. This was an amazing video! Thank you!
Another purpose for the use of smoke is that it simulates a wild fire. The bees gorge themselves on honey in preparation to leave the site in danger and move to a safer site. The act of eating so much in a short time leaves them lethargic and less liable/able to be aggressive.
Very pleased with the way the bee keeper handled the situations he was confronted with. Swarms are one thing, and surprisingly easy to handle, but removal of an established hive can be another thing altogether. I appreciate his patience in waiting to see if he had the queen from the established hive. You chose well in getting an experienced bee handler.
Oh my God! Honeycomb nest taken from under the bathroom floor, is massive!😮 Dan, you continue to astonished and the 😊challenges you face everyday blows me away!

Funny, I was watching "The Beau Chateau" and they had a bee problem when a cloud of bees went into a tree, they called the beekeeper and he explained how to get his bees back. The beehives are on Daphane's property, so she gets free honey every year plus she helps the beekeeper with providing the land. Good content Dan it's like taking a little break plus the beekeeper helped you with some demolition of sorts. Maybe you might get some honey as a bonus.
He said that the hive was too small for the amount of bee's. Dan's bee's had a whole Chateau to spread out in if Dan hadn't come along. (Probably thought that they had it made!) "Hey Ben, look at all the room we have here!" "Yah Barb, we'll never need to look for a new place!"
Every morning I wake up, get a cup of coffee, and think to myself "What's Dan up to today - that will motivate me to get to work on my projects." Thanks for the great journey! That bathroom totally deserves to be the "Queen Bee Suite" when you are done - a lot of old wall paper patterns included bee themes. :)
The key question the beekeeper asked: vous faites la Maison tout seule? Your answer, simply: oui. No response from him, probably stunned. Stunning progress, never doubted you. Enjoy the honey.

@Escape to Rural France Dan, as a fan of stylish art deco and French interiors with some experience with older historic properties, I feel you should definately, when the time comes (down the line) make a point of using the Napoleons signature style monochromatic wallpaper with big single honeybees on it to remember the bees who inhabited the Chateau for years before you came along! It's beautiful and covers the walls of many of the French Embassy salons all over the world. Several wallpaper companies make it and it's really gorgeous, comes in lots of colors and works with any style interior really. Often comes in a silk moiré look too, very elegant, not fussy. This was a vlog full of suspense and great outcomes! That was at least two healthy colonies with at least 2 mature queens, the beekeeper must have been chuffed! Great job both of you! I'll admit, it's an old fantasy of mine to keep a beehive or two. I used to tag along with my old ex-father-in-law to collect honey and beeswax, and sometimes move the hive boxes to new pastures. He made exellent honey of a variety of different flavors thanks to moving them between forests and fields of spring clover or summer wildflowers, orchards and country alleys with linden trees, and slung most the old Swedish way to make it stable and thick like a spreadable toffee for toast and tea and we'd make natural wax candles for Christmas that made the entire house smell of heavenly warm honey! 👌💕 It's a lovely hobby and does so much for the environment keeping the bees healthy from increasingly aggressive virus (that's a thing these days, massive bees death is a serious threat as you know) pollinating different areas throughout the year. You might invite your beekeeper back later to use the chateau grounds for keeping his little buzzing friends? This vlog was the bees knees man! 🐝❤🐝❤🐝❤

Fascinating how the bees made their give within the house structure, community continuing far after the human communities had left. A strong energy in this place for life and connection.
In the 90's Dan my grandparents bought a remote cottage in Herefordshire, in 1990 up a mile long track. We used a 4wd Subaru 1800 and Bratt Pickup to get to it. The cottage had no services. In the garden was 4 hives. My Nan was worried for us kids. Aged 12 as they swarmed a lot. Phoned a bee keeper on the Welsh border who came out and collected them! Amazing to watch from indoors. Apparently they awoke on the journey back!! Thankfully they had driven back in their outfit. The beekeeper phoned a few days later to say they had settled into their new hives in his orchard and they were really good bees. Glad you saved them Dan.
OMG, that beehive in the castle was massive. One could not imagine the size of it. Yes, it had to be handled by the professionals. Amazing video as always.
Well, that was a sight to beehold! It's great that you were able to save the bees & film it too! Years ago, my uncle & cousin removed some bees from a tree for someone & drove home with them in their station wagon. Priceless looks at traffic lights along the way - two guys in beekeeping suits with a carload of bees!
I had a beehive in my house and the bee catcher said I had 25,000-30,000 bees! You must have had a million!! Or more! That was incredible! So happy there are fearless bee people to do that!
Well yet again that was amazing. It's the first time I've ever seen a professional bee worker at work so close up and the chateau is coming to life more and more. So good to watch just before going to work.
Loved this video so much. That was amazing to watch him catch the bees. Hope the Queen shows up tomorrow. Well done on the work you are accomplishing each and every day. This is such an adventure! Thank you for sharing with us.❤
Someone else may have also suggested this, but have your bee man relocate the bees to some hives in your woods, as the bees seem to like it there. Then maybe you'll get some jars of honey. (And, you have no idea how long they've already been there.)
Seeing the floor boards move with life and realizing it’s all bees was wild. I hope he got the Queen and that you get reap some of the sweet honey reward for saving them.
This was so interesting to watch the bee keeper at work, he wasn't afraid of a bit of awkward hard work either getting up that tree then removing floorboards. I was on edge when you were getting those long planks of wood over the edge, scary stuff. Well done Dan 💕🇦🇺
Sometimes the bee rescuers have to destroy parts of a building to get the bees out...& then repair the damage they've done but luckily for the French beekeeper at the castle he doesn't have to repair anything!
Dan, you had me holding my breath, again!! Gotta hand it to you. You're amazing. Elevating that wood had me scratching my head. Good luck with the bees.
Thats a massive bee colony! We hired a bee keeper years ago to take the bees from our abandoned gardeners cottage wall, It was the entire width and length of the wall. It was amazing as yours is. Great progress Dan , Enjoyed.
I can see why you were mesmerised, I found it very interesting but was a bit worried when he took up more and more of the floor boards incase there was nothing safe left for him to stand on
So glad you saved the bees Dan. They keep us from starving to death. I had bees for several years and the supers got too heavy for me to manage. Loved having them in my backyard. The beams look good after you painted and treated them. All the best to you Dan. Amazing what you accomplish. I was scared for you Dan, The wood didn't seem balanced. Man that is a lot of bees under the floor. So glad you are saving them.
Thank you for sharing your work life with us Dan! Your brilliant positive energy is catching. I am so happy to see that you are protecting your eyes. Slow and steady will keep you in good stead with this enormous project. Your viewers are happiest when you take care of yourself. 👍
Don’t worry….Bee happy! Loved watching the calm demeanor and tenderness the beekeeper handled both hives….and showing the baby bee emerging was a spectacular occurrence not seen much! I know that beekeepers must stay calm or else the bees pick up the panic vibes too as there is a lot of resonance with human vibrations and the bees. Fascinating to study these much prized busy bees! I envision outfitting that bathroom with golden honey colored walls with hexagonal styled tiles, pictures of bees and golden taps! Wonderful you caught it all with this footage!
I consider beekeeping a noble profession. Without bees many of the world's flora would not flourish. Like others have commented, I hope, when the Chateau is nearing completion, you will turn your attention to keeping a beehive or two on the property to help with the health of your trees & any fruit or vegetables you grow there...
Dan, it looks to me like you are climbing Everest with ladders going up to the sky. I’m holding my breathe watching you…at the same time knowing you can do it Hillary! Yes, let’s save the bees!
Talk about must see TV! This was absolutely fascinating. Every day brings a new adventure. Kudos to the bee keeper and to you for ensuring that the bees live on.

Those Bees are golden. Any beekeeper would be pleased to have them, because having survived and multiplied so well, in the wild, for so long without being managed they obviously have some good genetics. I definitely think you should have a proper hive in the grounds. Hey maybe you could even sell small pots of chateaux honey to your youtube followers...

Fascinating how the bees made their give within the house structure, community continuing far after the human communities had left. A strong energy in this place for life and connection.
Can’t believe I applauded the lumber raise. Good job.
Those bees really made a home of the Chateau! that was amazing! I hope he can get them all.
Cool! Beekeepers are amazing in their dedication.
Was just going to bed when this popped up. Have to watch of course.
Me too lol
Just finished watching all series 😄
OMG, that beehive in the castle was massive. One could not imagine the size of it. Yes, it had to be handled by the professionals. Amazing video as always.
Well, that was a sight to beehold! It's great that you were able to save the bees & film it too! Years ago, my uncle & cousin removed some bees from a tree for someone & drove home with them in their station wagon. Priceless looks at traffic lights along the way - two guys in beekeeping suits with a carload of bees!
It WAS a productive day, Dan! (And the accompanying music is perfect!)
That hive in the bathroom was huge, it just kept going & going, it’s always fascinating to watch a bee keeper work.
Fascinating! What a job that was, hope the bees will like their new home!
I had a beehive in my house and the bee catcher said I had 25,000-30,000 bees! You must have had a million!! Or more! That was incredible! So happy there are fearless bee people to do that!
I have to say I love watching the videos but pray for your safety every time! You're doing a great job!
I can see why you were mesmerised, I found it very interesting but was a bit worried when he took up more and more of the floor boards incase there was nothing safe left for him to stand on
Was alot of bees and honey comb. Fascinating about bee being born.😊
That's one dedicated bee keeper.
You’ll have to incorporate a bee motif somewhere in that bathroom when it comes to decorating it! 🐝
When he was cutting the wood of the bathroom floor, it’s actually looked still in good condition. Amazing.
These two bathrooms seem to have escaped the fire with minimal damage and they've got a mostly sealed roof above (the small terrace).
Luv'd that you got a beekeeper to rescue the bees! I agree you should consider having bee hives on the property in the future.
I'm glad the bees are all going to a good home. I'm also glad you filmed it. That was cool to watch.
You can do it Dan the Man! You have proven yourself time and time again. You’ve got this! New Zealand 🇳🇿 😊
What a wonderful beekeeper you had to extract the bees , he has done so well , huge job well done.
I'm so happy you got a beekeeper to come get the bees... saving them is important! Such great work.
Talk about must see TV! This was absolutely fascinating. Every day brings a new adventure. Kudos to the bee keeper and to you for ensuring that the bees live on.
First of all thank you for saving the bees. Wow to the beekeeper having to break floor boards etc. That is a huge amount of bees. Incredible.
That hive was gigantic! I hope he got the queen! So glad you saved them and they are going to a new home!
I have my own bees, as an amateur beekeeper. Those are super bees, very steady. The beekeeper is obviously an absolute master. Well done for getting the right man for the job. Don’t usually comment but love your channel. This was just exceptional, right down to the ‘beekeeper music’! Thanks Dan.
I don't know much about video taping for a vlog, but I can imagine it must not be easy. Kudo's to you Dan as you do it so well and then, add in bees!
You are such handsome delightful person . How do you stay so happy all the time . Just love your videos.😊
The patience and skill of a bee keeper is just amazing. Dan thanks for keeping this series interesting. It’s now a must watch for me in Texas. 💯💯💯
Fascinating removal of the bees.
Thank you for taking such good care of the bees.
You keep this up and pretty soon you're going to have a beautiful home to live in!
Fabulous, I look forward to daily video to watch with my breakfast in the UK. That hive was massive.
WOW! What an episode about bees. That is-was a serious honey beehive. Those bees love your chateau also.
Wow that is a big nest of bees but very important for nature so good to save them and give them another home thanks for sharing 😊
As a beekeeper myself I just want to say thank you!
Very cool! Thank you for sharing that. I look forward to seeing what Wednesday brings.
That bathroom renovation should definitely include bee decor 🐝
