I remember hearing in classes - especially beginner ones - ‘I want to learn the head movements’ in response to my question: ‘what would you like to learn the most?’ Or ‘what attracted you to Brazilian Zouk?’ 😅
Indeed it’s a beautiful part of the dance, giving it a special look and feel that distinguishes it from any other✨🙏🏼
I don’t do much of them when social dancing. I like too much to play with footwork🫣 BUT I do like to explore what is possible with the fundamentals of head movements. We can play with speed, directions, use to convey the music, and more.
We can plaaaay so much with them, make them comfortable and let them happen as organically as possible. The grounding and inclinations doing the work, and the range being decided by each body depending on how they are feeling on each day.
