I don't ship SaiMatsu, either though. I wish that she would have talked things out with Shuichi, as communication is prime in a relationship. Also, the way that Kaede just betrayed Shuichi like that while Shuichi still feels incredibly attached to her after only a few days is outright unhealthy. This is my opinion, but I 100% understand why you ship it.

I agree with you, I feel like in the OG game her character became WAY to centered around her romance with Kaito that she didn’t have enough time to properly build up any meaningful connections with anyone beside Kaito and Shuichi(who she tried to sacrifice with little to no remorse to again avenge Kaito.) I just felt like the romance was forced, and made Maki into a 1 dimensional tsundere.
Because Teruteru has a reputation in game of drugging his food. In DR2, in his final Free Time, he drugs Hajime and he's also mentioned to do so in Danganronpa: Zero. He also admits to trying it in "Ultimate Summer Camp". So it's natural that Maki would be careful of him trying to drug her.
