Yeah... most of this guy's criticisms of the PT/Anakin are pointing out how it is different (intentionally so) from the OT/Luke -- they serve unique purposes in the SW mythos. Not every trilogy or film set in the SW universe should BE the OT... that's what Disney (and the fans that supported them) failed to realize and are paying for it now.
A New Hope - Introducing the characters and their world - Luke, Han, Leia, Vader in the Star Wars Galaxy, Tatoonie, Death Star The Empire Strikes Back - The tragedy of heroes is Vader twist and failure to win a battle Return of the Jedi - The conclusion and resolution, end of the Emperor and Vader The Phantom Menace - Introducing the characters and their world, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padmé, Palpatine/Sidious Attack of the Clones - The tragedy is to form the forbidden love and The Clone Wars begins Revenge of the Sith - The conclusion and resolution, End of the Clones Wars, Anakin becoming Vader and rise of the Empire The Clone Wars (Awesome) > Rebels (not bad) You just in denial man. The Force Awakens - The introduction of the characters and their world, Rey, Poe, FN-2187/Finn, Kylo Ren/Ben Solo The Last Jedi - (Spoilers) The tragedy is the Resistance is tiny and the whole organisation can fit in the falcon but nothing to the main character unless you count that she is nothing but she already knew that and does react a bit but now enough for the sequel The Rise of Skywalker - Should conclude the trilogy but the previous film failed in my opinion because it is not on a character level even the Prequels knew that. I am a Prequel Era fan.
I think AOTC had to be a happier movie because ROTS is the movie in the trilogy when everything goes to shit for the jedi/republic and leaves the galaxy in darkness so that needed to be the darkest in the prequels or else there would have been two back to back dark films which I believe wouldn’t of worked..
@@StewartFletcher How though? People argue that TPM is filler as well -- but what they fail to see in both cases is that both TPM and AOTC are a rising conflict/energy wherein what appears to be continuous [albeit hollow] victories for our heroes (the Jedi/Republic against the Separatists with the threat of the Sith lurking) are under the surface actually a slow game-victory for the villains (Palpatine/the Sith against the Jedi); something only fully revealed in ROTS. Most casual viewers and vitriolic critics simply fail to grasp the genius and complexity of the Tragedy Genre, Lucas was appropriating for the PT -- something altogether unique from the Comedy/Adventure Genre that the OT captured so well (and the Disney ST attempted and fell flat on its face with).
Last jedi is no part of any trilogy, it was written almost as a stand alone, with very little extra exposition scenes and you could totally understand it without watching the force awakens, and its end could very well be the ending of a saga, the gang is together and even if they lost this battle, theres hope for the future with resistance supporting little force user kids around the galaxy. Theres no need for a third, there is no more mystey about rey or Snoke and Kylo as an emperor just proved he is really stupid at strategy so the empire has never looked weaker. Credits roll, the end.
Original Trilogy: The MIDDLE is the best part Prequel Trilogy: The END is the best part Sequel Trilogy: The BEGINNING is the best part But in all seriousness, while I understand where he's coming from, I'd argue Anakin's arc was meant to be a tragedy. It only makes sense that after getting away with everything he did and achieving all that success, things would only go downhill for Anakin.
When you made a plan on how and what will happen to the 2 part without even knowing anything, so in short the middle part is when the book movie becomes juicyyyy
Okay Rebels is NOT better. Granted, there's dumb shit in Clone Wars. But Rebels at its best still falls short of the mark of Clone Wars at its meh-est. Rebels is like a CW DC show or The Walking Dead, with terrible characters and forced drama. Clone Wars, being an anthology, means every arc is its own thing pretty much. The good arcs are great. Rebels doesn't have good arcs.. like, at all. Watch the Cosmonaut Variety Hour videos about them. They're full of valid criticism, and the channel is great. Sorry for the fanboy rant. I acknowledge it's a fanboy rant. Rebels is just bad (sorry not sorry)
Not necessarily, Captain America trilogy is part of huge MCU, it's more concerned with concentrating on one character and his conflict, and how others impact him, so it's very personal trilogy. Basically first movie is exploration of his character, second one is him trying to live with losses he faced and third one is his tipping point, he also has some tidbits here and there in two Avengers movies. Star Wars is focusing on much larger story, so it's basically Avengers in terms of style and all.
Awesome video but it wasn't fair to add in the Matrix. Why you ask? The Matrix was only meant to be a single film, not a trilogy. It only was turned into a trilogy due to the 1st being not only well received but making a rather nice profit for the studio. And because it made so much, the studio pushed for more. That's also why the 3 acts for a trilogy were all met in the one film. Of course, before Hollywood got all sequel happy, the three act structure always fit into a single film. So yea, the Matrix as a trilogy failed but it was never meant to be a trilogy at all.
Well by this metric TLJ (Spoiler alert) Mostly fails. Rey still appears to be in denial about her parents but she didn't suffer any consequences for it. The resistance suffered a tactical L but a moral W. Poe is the only character who was actually punished for failure (the deaths of most of the resistance is largely on his hands)

Graeme Haney That's what of the problems for the trilogy-- Clones should have been the turning point but it wasn't so it just feels like filler

EYYYYYYYYYYYY, Another fellow Cosmonaut.
Can the Captain America trilogy apply to this concept
Regular Guy 214 Age of Ultron and Civil War are Cap's third act
Dev Allen to be fair, Civil war was, in reality, Avengers 2.5. I mean the only missing players were Thor and Hulk.
