Definitely such a high caliber podcast. You can get fooled by some of the merch stuff in the beginning but if you hang on, it’s just golden guess. This is what I wanted Joe Rogan to concentrate on more. I have to watch eight episodes of zoologist before I see an MMAinterview😂

@@MotoMiles it’s so much better then JRE. Joe Rogan just has these crack pot lunatics on now.. guests who can’t back up what they say like graham hancock and Terence Howard or tucker Carleson. Just full of shit people. Jackson has real people who walk the walk and talk the talk.

Cub is such a solid stand up dude. Went to a memorial day weekend fight in Las Vegas. Garbrandt vs. Almeida. And I was probably middle row. I had on a KillerCub shirt and KillerCub hat and out of nowhere Cub Swanson came up to me in my row and said what’s up and we took a picture together and talked about his next fight coming up. Such a crazy experience and humble interaction with Cub. I’ll always hold onto that memory. Favorite fighter of all time.

Cub Swanson is the reason I started training striking. He was the first person I saw fight that made it look cool to me. The way be boxes looks so damn smooth. I would still put money on him against 45ers in the top 10. And easily one of my favorite fighters ever.

dude, this level of insight on gyms and coaching is soo damn nice to hear. as a coach, it is nice to hear fighters appreciate certain styles of coaching and notice it. i think thats important for fighters to hear. cub should really harp this out there harder because this stuff is important. ive had this happen to me when i was in high school training. i was getting ready for my first amateur fight and sparred with someone getting ready for a pro fight and nobody stopped us from going hard. he kicked my leg soo hard while i was going for a body kick of my own, it really twisted my motion as i got kicked that hard on my lone leg. maybe a freak accident but when i replanted i felt a pop and was in soo much pain. i tore my acl. that derailed soo much for me at the time. now i coach and train smart with a lot of athletes and to hear cub talk about this just reassures my stance on it.

Power comes from the ground, the legs and the hip. Punching with the whole body not just the arms like a lot of people do. My teacher is 155-160 pounds, about 63 years old. He hits like a ton of bricks. No one hits harder than him consistently. Other guys 200+ pounds might get similar power (from our style) But the way sensei does it with every single technique: jab, straight punch, hook, uppercut, sweep, front kick, etc.. It's all about technique is the moral of the story.

Cub Swanson. Man... What a Kool dude. I've been in the fight thing since the beginning. I'm 59 . Turned pro at 42. I was a black belt in Tang Soo Do and Ed Parker Kenpo when I saw the first UFC... After the fourth event I started Jiujitsu with Rickson Gracie. It was 1996 and there were no "American" black belts yet. You had the Gracie's and Machados. Everyone else students. Ricksons highest ranking guy was a brown belt Chris Saunders and trained with him mostly because Rickson was in Japan or Brazil alot. We became surfing buddies after I moved from LA to Ventura. I had a bunch of ammy fights (before CAMO) .. for like 8 years while doing ammy fights where ever they were often driving myself paying $20 sign waiver and hope you have a opponent. There was no MMA gear yet . And MMA wasn't even a word. It was NHB no holds barred. Tapout just starting slinging t shirts out of they're trunk of car if you were fighting at the event you got free t shirt and stickers . Vale Tudo was the Brazilian word for MMA then. King of the Kage ,Gladiator Challenge...were some of the bigger shows locally. And you could watch your fight by buying the VHS or renting from video stores. I've only met Cub as in a handshake in fighters warm up area chilling . Either my guys fighting .. I have had a couple jobs teaching jiujitsu or grappling at MMA gyms and have met a lot of fighters UFC ,Pride etc. and ended up being good buddies and ended up being they're coaches. Jeremy Scorpion Jackson he was staying at my place and training together when he got falsely accused of felony counts. Lodune Sincaid a everywhere champ except UFC also coached at my gym and did a affiliate school in Florida .RIP. buddy. I just wanted to say how this could've been easily a five hour podcast with such a Kool humble fighter, coach, father Cub Swanson IS the REAL deal for sure. He is a great Coach and his take on other Coaches was dead on. Also how Conor took over his spot and why they didn't fight. The injuries...yes lots. I can relate to a lot of his experiences. What a great podcast easily could have him on as a guest again. I could go on and on 35 years in combat sports... Ok thanks you guys.🎉 TCB⚡

Imo, one of the best episodes. Gotta do a future one with Cub and TJ on the pod…

Cub just proved why TJ is such a believer in coach Cal, it's all about doping and taking EPO. It had nothing to do with being anemic, it was that TJ needed to be able to keep up. He has zero quit and will not accept failure. Cub may not have been that champion caliber fighter, but he has definitely had a successful career in the UFC. My past post about him not being a top ranked fighter is not an accurate description of this man. To be in the UFC period means u are already one of the best in the world. Cub is a humble man and a martial artist which makes him a great ambassador for the sport. God bless him and his family 🙏🏻
