I just changed my timing belt and water pump.. timing belt pulley bolt broke inside the motor.. i tap it out and put it back together now the car won't start... I need some help
Sorry to hear that, that's no fun. Are you certain that the belt is on correctly and tensioned properly? Not slipping or backwards? Are you hearing the starter but the motor fails to turnover?
I like video. The only thing that was a negative was that I couldn't hardly hear what you were saying due to the music being louder than you. Other than that, great job.
Fuckin funny he said what I was thinking “with enough determination, Grit and sheer stupidity I can do just about anything” thanks for the video my G. I just did the timing kit replacement water pump now I may attempt this I hear ticks possibly rocker arms
changed the head gaskets on mine. got the heads and rockers on but we think the heads are on the wrong side. do you know if they are interchangable or should i take everything back off?
They're not interchangeable, I don't believe you would be able to even put the bolts in with them on opposite side, but I could be wrong. If you suspect that's the problem, best make sure. What makes you think they're on the wrong sides?
Hope this is everything you need: Intake manifold bolts: torque to 105 in-lbs Valve cover bolts: torque to 105 in-lbs Cylinder head: torque large bolts to 35 ft-lbs. Then large bolts to 55 twice. Then tighten large bolts additional 90 degrees. The finish with small bolts torqued to 21 ft-lbs Oil pump mounting bolts: 21 ft-lbs Exhaust manifold bolts: torque to 200 in-lbs I'll upload a picture of the torque specs out of the book in my "posts" section for you and anyone who needs it. Hope this helps!

I bought a new set of rocker arms for a 2010 3.5 v6 dodge with lifters already in them. Do these pump up oil by themselves or do I need to do something to them? I noticed the new ones are springy where the old ones are solid.
The parts once installed should be fine as is, I don't think anything else is needed with rocker arms or lifters however the V6 has overhead cams. The v8 has lifters and pushrods. Hope you haven't purchased a wrong part.
@@bakerRebuilds The 3.5 has a "Rocker Arm" type lifter, with a roller on the camshaft, the pivot between the camshaft and the valve, and a Hydraulic "Tappet" that has a spring, keeper, and oil pocket that pushes on the valve itself. Having said that, I bought the right part.
Great video helped me out but On the driver side head to save some time you can remove the 3 bolts on back of head and slide the cam shaft slightly out the rear and it will keep you from having to loosen the front timing cover the head will lift straight out when the cam is moved out from rear of head.
Sooo I have a 3.5L the timing belt went bad ended up with 3 bent valves got new belt on but not getting the right compression to run should I get the heads redid buy new heads or just replace engine?
Oof that's rough. I'd recommend a leak down test, possibly a compression test to gather more info. If you have money to blow you could just get a new engine but it might just need some work. Are you certain you set the timing correctly?
@welcome2darealr229 It's hard to say much without experiencing the vehicle myself. I'd do a compression and a leak down test. When they fixed your heads did they put in new valve seals? Replace all of them or just the ones on the bent valves? Could use a cheap borescope off Amazon to check piston tips and see if they're fine or somewhat deformed on the cylinders that bent valves. Depending on the shop they may have reused the head bolts which are supposed to be replaced each time. Are you getting any smoke out of the exhaust or it's normal?
@@bakerRebuildsthey only put on a new timing belt because thats all I paid for but they told me I had 3 bent valves that I needed heads or a new motor
@welcome2darealr229 Ah I see, my apologies. I'd get the heads redone, replacing the bent valves and all of the stem seals. Good opportunity to port and polish but not necessary. New head gaskets and replace the bolts. This alone could fix the compression issue but if you still have problems atleast the initial issue is ruled out.
They just push in, Christmas tree style clips. You can use an interior plastic type tool or pretty much any type of two prong ply tool to work them out and for the most part they're reusable.
Doing this job on an '06 Pacifica right now. What a pain. There's no way the car is worth the effort, but I did it as a "fun" project. It hasn't been very much fun. LOL
A little smoke is fairly typical but it would clear up in a few minutes. I'm not sure where a loud ticking would come from. Did you replace the head gasket?
@@MacRilla I'm assuming this is a V8, 5.7l? Unfortunately the lifters don't get oiled well due to Chrysler changing the camshaft position. I just rebuilt a 5.7l and there's a fair amount of ticking noise, all new parts so I don't know that it should be too much of a concern. How did the rollers look when you had them out? Any pitting, seized?
@@bakerRebuilds It's a 3.5l they seemed to be in good condition. I shut if off because I didn't want to damage anything. Someone said maybe I should let it run a little while to see if it clears up. What do you think?

For an experienced mechanic it will take 6-8 hrs to get it apart. For someone who hasn't done much in depth mechanic work probably closer to 10-12 hrs. Take apart, installing new gaskets after cleaning surfaces and piston tops then reassembly probably took me about 18-20 hrs.
@@bakerRebuilds i’m having a tick and i’m pretty sure it has something to do with the valves as the rocker arms have already been replaced, if this did take a whole day then is it worth fixing it without having to just replace the motor?
@miguelangelcazales3120 Having the heads redone with new springs, valves, seals and reseating the valves is worth it to me if I can leave the bottom end alone. If you can find a fairly cheap low mileage motor maybe that's worth it to some. Are you sure it's the heads? If I remember right the intake plenum made some ticking noises.
