I used a crooked carpetknife to get the old rubber off. The outside of these knives is blunt, so no risk for the heating element. Thx for the vid, very helpful!

I'd gone seeking replacement grips for my 2002 BMW F650GS, only to be told by a general motorcycle shop that you can't get new grips for these bike because of the problems with the heated grips. BMW Motorrad said the same thing, then tried to sell me a whole heated grip package costing $600 AUD (Australia dollars). Luckily I found your video and ordered some Ariete Roadgrips on Ebay, sent from Germany for $45 AUD. 10 days later they arrived and absolutely identical to the originals. Had both fitted in under 10 mins thanks to the hairspray trick. Very Happy Biker!!!
i need to do the same to my F800R. thanks to this video & your comment im confident of doing this. i think im looking at the same grips on Ebay, look the same as are on my bike. :-)

The right grip is the same?
Left and right are identical. No difference from the factory ones.

You neglected the locktite at the bar end ... those bugger may wiggle free after a few miles.
nice video - i had the same problem (at my R1200GS K25 the handgrip replacement was terrible)- you can use a nylon wheel brush - look at my channel
