This video is pretty old, I just found it and watched it. The history of the pattern along with the stories make me wish the video had been 3 hours long. Simply the most interesting knife video I've seen.
Thank you Stefan! I own three Case knives in the navy blue with red shield and find them to be very beautiful. That was most enlightening and entertaining. I've heard somewhere (don't hold me to this) that the southern farmers who were fond of this pattern bought the Congress because if he broke a blade, he still had several more to use and the knife would continue to be used until perhaps all but one blade was left. Then they would give it their eldest son and buy another.
Great Presentation Of The Congress Case Knife Embellished With A Historical Account. Really enjoyed Watching This Video. Became a Subscriber Immediately. 👍
I very much enjoy your vids. I wait in anticipation of learning something new every day. That is my goal for being a member of UA-cam. You make that goal an easy task. Great content.
another great video! your videos are the reason i got in to collecting case knives..keep up the good work!!!!! would love to hear more on the peanuts and maybe something similar. no matter what great videos
You are the most American German I've ever seen, Stefan. Right on! haha. Dude your comments had me rolling! There is nothing corrupt about a company donating something to you in recognizing your superb work here on YT. That's a beautiful little folder there. I enjoyed this video. Great bit of history and that's a really cool postcard.
Good Job Stefan! If you cought Case's attention than that is just great!!!!! Congrats on that :), you make great review's so its not a shocker!! As always a fantastic review Stefan.
I have fallen in love with the Case knives just because of your vids. I just scored a CASE XX Genuine Oktoberfest Muskrat 1/500 Pocket Knife, which is #1 in the series. I dont know how valuable it is but it is gorgeous. I got it for 58 bucks. Keep the vids coming.
Very nice video on the Congress knife...and the little history lesson. You probably know more about American History then alot of my fellow US citizens. Thanks for the review, well done Sir.
The Half Congress is my favorite pattern. 4 blades I find are a lot to manage and the 6 blade Congress is just tiring. 2 blades on any knife is plenty and if you can't make a cut with 1 blade than you're using the wrong damn knife, get a bigger knife.
This video is incredible! Fantastic work on this one Stefan. You really went above and beyond in providing great production, history, technical details and your personal thoughts. BTW, I would have loved to heard the unedited version of the video where I could hear who "the most hated" UA-camr was. :)
Awesome! Congrats on the knife from Case. Well Stefan you are now famous! Like always, great video. It's interesting how I continue to learn little bits of American history from you. I guess I need to read fewer novels and more history books!
Good job once more, it is nice to watch your videos. Love those those dots and x's on that Barlow! I have not found yet, but sure I will when you talk about that. That was a great pic of the knife Lincoln carried to the theater. Could you please say more about that. I have recently read Lincoln to be a very good wood worker. Roy Underhill talks about a unique wood mallet Lincoln would make. The Man, if one could be was a Phenomena. Eric
Stefan, I have enjoyed your videos for many months now. The Congress that you selected from Case is beautiful but no longer available. I bought the Stockman in the same Navy Jigbone pattern that you have. I learned today that Case is discontinuing the Congress pattern at the end of 2017, so I bought the one which I have been thinking about and it is red. Keep up your videos with the historical information.
I really enjoy your reviews of Case knives. I have several of their knives, and I think the deep blue with the red shield is the most pleasing of their color combinations. I hope you'll put up more reviews of your Case knives. I'd also like to see Great Eastern Cutlery reviews. (And, just for the record, there are still a few of us in the States who don't like Lincoln and reckon he got better than he deserved.)
Another great video keep it up. Just wondering what kind of knives may have been given to you and what conditions were given for them to be passed onto another?
@stschmalhaus i have been reading twain for awhile his work is awesome. he is actually buried half an hour from where i grew up. his autobiography that was just released is a really great look in to what shaped him and his writing.l
Stefan, Thank you for the very interesting and informative review of the Congress knife. I agree with another who commented here that you probably know more of American history than most Americans! I wonder if the new movie on Lincoln has any reference to his pocket knives. Please keep up the good work.
When i usually watch knife reviews, i read the comments as the video plays. Not yours. I am riveted to every word you say! If you are half as dedicated to your real-life occupation as you are with knife reviews, then you are the foremost expert in your field i am sure. Good day to you!
You have to love that a Congress knife was popularized by a President. (Lincoln spent a very VERY short amount of time in the House as a Whig.) Lovely blue color...
I believe it's called a Congress simply because the blades are 'in congress' with each other, 'congress' being used in the traditional English meaning of intimacy (e.g. 'sexual congress' being an old description of coitus). Because of the lack of separators between the blades with this pattern, they can thus be said to be in congress with each other.
Thanks for uploading. Great information, I had no clue to why they call the only real knife a Congress knife. Just know the worthless, butcher toothpick knifes on youtube reviews are making me sick.
@stschmalhaus Oh just trying to make a joke. All that talk about ugly Abe and people giving him ugly knives. Not that the Case Medium Congress is ugly. I don't think Case makes any ugly knives, but don't let it go to your head. Just because Case gave you a beautful knife :)
Nice video. Though I do own one,the medium congress is not my favorite patern. I usually carry a medium stockman but have recently switched to a five blade sow belly. I have posted my collection on you tube. check it out if you have time.
Best knife I ever owned, used to clean my cutthroat native trout down at the creek or lake on my bike and whittle a stick and start a small fire and cook them before I got home. Boooo, Booo boo. Now I know what bullshitters you all are now. Jimmy Cater knows.
This video is pretty old, I just found it and watched it. The history of the pattern along with the stories make me wish the video had been 3 hours long. Simply the most interesting knife video I've seen.
Thank you very much for your kind words! I'm still around and make videos from time to time. Maybe you would like to watch some of my newer ones.
Just got my first Case Congress today and have another on order

@TheUrbanPrepper Thank you for your very kind words. I have to disappoint you though, in the unedited video I just said "Beep"... LOL
I am glad Case recognized your outstanding work and rewarded you with this lovely knife. Keep up the outstanding work, Stefan! Thank you for sharing.

I wish case would make a 4" closed 6 blade congress with CV steel

As usual, a superb video Stefan! And is that you playing the Beethoven and psuedo-Gershwin? If so, bravo!

Wonderful video. Sub.
Thanks for the sub!
Thanks for uploading. Great information, I had no clue to why they call the only real knife a Congress knife. Just know the worthless, butcher toothpick knifes on youtube reviews are making me sick.
Stefan maybe to Congress to come to together is the reason.
My Tree Brand Boker has 3 sheeps foot blades and one pen blade. I belive a congress knife is verry pratical.
this is the President America needs now.
Abe Lincoln's weapon was a pocket knife
@colwild If you don't get get warm with Case knives that's ok. But you must fucking read the books I recommend. LOL
@GMGvanS Blame Case. They stamp this "SS" mark on their stainless steel blades... LOL

Best knife I ever owned, used to clean my cutthroat native trout down at the creek or lake on my bike and whittle a stick and start a small fire and cook them before I got home. Boooo, Booo boo. Now I know what bullshitters you all are now. Jimmy Cater knows.
@MrJimbofox I guess, I'm an American soul that is trapped in the body of a German... LOL
