@@Iowa599 Not in the uk! in addition to what you said you would need more bodywork/mudgaurds/no sharp edges or projections/ seatbelts. Basically the law takes all the fun and aesthetics
Love these old, home made bits of kit bought back to life and 'used'. Not sitting in some dank museum gathering dust. Would love to know it's history and where the original 'tank' came from.
I believe these were made from P-38 belly tanks. IIRC P-47 and P--51 drop tanks were made from a paper laminate material so the Germans wouldn't get any aluminum when the tanks were discarded over the continent. The P-38 tanks were not discarded.
There is absolutely no reason for building something like that and I love it. Well maybe the satisfaction of making something work and riding around in an idea. Bravo from Houston!
That's a pod racer! Anakin Skywalker's Dad used to race them in Tatoine. It looks like someone put wheels on a missile! I've never seen such a thing. It's amazing and I want one! Whats powering it (besides pure testosterone)?
@@3500P5 I'm American and I've never seen anything like that in my life. Been a car guy since a kid and thought I'd seen all types of race cars. Is. Was this something yall use to race? Is there just one of them? What do you call these things? Where can I learn more? ITS AMAZING!!!!!
THAT is very very cool... ...right down to the baby moons and the rust Land speed record attempt anyone (?) Of course it's sporting an old Merc flathead V-8 🥸
When I am King, I am making these street legal.
"All hail to King 👑 Dinglefester"
✌️ 😁
They are with lights, by using the VIN of the primary donor. The DMV doesn't need to see it when you get a tag (licence plate)!

@@lariwoo do you really have to get seat belts to register an antique that was produced before seat belts?

I saw one of these racers as a kid, was pretty cool, completely function and not finish for sure.

Originally it was designed to go fast on salt flats.
Needs NACA ducts and a fox tail on a whip antenna. Driver also needs a stubby cigar.
the very definition of a low rider!
I love that thing! Any idea of the top speed?
get a wind buffer - geesh!
Awesome machine! I mean I could hear the wind flowing by before he even got it off the trailer.
Absolutely awesome
It seems a bit crazy, but it makes me happy just to watch, thanks.

This looks like great fun! What does it have for a cooling system?
the one's I've seen use air cooled engines. This one sounds like one too.
This one is a Ford V4 so I suppose it must have a rad somewhere !
@@3500P5 I saw one that just runs coolant inside the frame rails and uses that as a radiator. Same one has a separate oil cooler.

Does that Humber have a V8 in it? if so what type? bet it goes well.
Sounds like a flat 4 to me, Subaru maybe?
