This series has helped me get up to now 11 pieces of Ascended gear, getting into fractals, strikes, living world, etc. I've played since launch with a few breaks here and there and I feel that I'm now finally truly enjoying the game to its fullest potential. Only thing left for me is to get into raids. I'll have to see how that all goes down :-)

I started playing a week ago now after watching part of this series and feeling inspired to try Guild wars 2, and been having a great time. Doing the things you did, the meta events and fractals and just playing the fun content while also making gold and experiencing the game, this series has been very helpful and is a great guide, at least to me as a new player, which I could follow along very well and learn how to take advantage of things like the meta trains to do stuff in the game and have fun doing it all.
Thank you Teapot for making this series, as it is one of the best resources on this wonderful game out there!

Fantastic video again Teapot. Suggestion for future characters i was reminded of a great point you mentioned in a Teatime. Try playing a build that is good but maybe isnt popular too! Just a suggestion ya know, do what you're doing and at the same time show players different builds along the way. Have a great Christmas partner!

I have mained cele FB for 3000 hours and you are going right down the exact path I took, I really want to get into that endgame static you mentioned I need to learn raids and CM strikes that is literally all that I have left to learn and I don't have a group of people with me at the same point of progression. Thanks for the series can't wait for more.

Love the series. Your approach to the game is what brought me back into it. After not touching my Account for two years. The fashion and unlocking side of the game is what always kept me at playing gw2 but having gold is nice as well and the Microtransactionenjoyer helps me to appreciate that more. :)
You can get ascended back pieces without spending gold. Search wiki for Supporter of the Gods. Takes Orrian pearls and krama

Awesome video as always. Really enjoying watching you play and learning along. The only problem i have is that i do not know what should i sell and what should i keep from my inventory. so this is kinda hindering me in having more gold.
The good news is that selling everything is usually the way to go! That's what I've been doing in this series
If I might suggest, the way I cleaned out my material storage for a juicy payday was going to the gw2efficiency crafting menu, adding all the legendary and ascended gear I planned on crafting within the next 1-300 hours of gameplay (in my case, legendary armor, a legendary weapon to sell, and Aurora), checked the material list for everything I would need and then proceeded to methodically withdraw first all the materials those recipes did not need and were worth anything decent, then did a second round where I sold all the materials that where on the crafting list but knew I could farm up very easily from metas or instanced content once it came time to craft those items. Hope this method proves useful to you too 😁
I would vote for Specter as the new character. Works decent in open world with Celestial gear, and Ritualist prefix can take it both into Alac and DPS/barrier builds.
I've really enjoyed watching these. It still highlights the big knowledge gap I have in terms of the game content itself. It feels like you need a whole college level course to understand half of what's going on in GW2. But I still love it. It's good to see where you can take a character right away -- but as someone who stumbled into a couple Meta events on accident and had NO IDEA what to do, I was extremely lucky that the groups doing them could carry the content. But I didn't learn anything. ...but this helps me want to keep trying to learn. Thanks!

Hi just wanna ask what is your daily routine for farming gold? So far i have full exotic gear and aiming to get adc gear next but i dont have lots of gold yet. And i also wanna aim for living world as well...

What are you planning to do with your second character ? What does a heal mech/virtuoso/scourge achieve that a celebrand can't ?
The main benefit of having more then 1 char is that you can slot into a group in more then one way. So, right now, he can join groups that need quickness+healer or quickness+dps. But he will either need another char or another build to become a full healer or full dps.
A heal mech will be able to join as heal+alacrity. Or as alacrity+dps (depending on gear) and a virtuoso will be able to join as full condi or full power dps (again depending on gear).
Since Teapot is a really good player, he have an easier time slotting into groups, since even on a semi dps build, he is often able to out dps full dps'ers. But if he want to do raids and cm's, then having more "clean" builds will be optimal
As the other commenter correctly identified, versatility is king for improving group winrates. Being able to play every role and position in a group is a massive utility for this account. It gives me more control over the outcome of content and therefore improves my efficiency.

virtuoso - ton of easy dps
scourge - revive potential
It's cool to see, but if the point of this was to show what the average new player can do when starting a fresh account that seems a little farfetched.
I thought that was the original point of starting a fresh account but maybe that changed
I don't think a player like Teapot CAN give us the average new player experience because of the depth of his knowledge. That's been my struggle with the series. I love to see what's achievable with a new account/character -- but it still requires a depth of knowledge of what content is available and how to get into it that... is what I'm really missing as an extremely casual player.
it’s showing what is possible for a new player to achieve. he states multiple times he’s not tryharding and doing the top farm strats. he’s just playing the game and showing what players should prioritize to progress efficiently
I don’t think the point ever was to claim a new player could do all of this at a 1:1 rate along side him. I think the essence of the series was to show players the methods and best practices to achieving these things from someone that knows almost everything there is to know about the game. I really appreciate him showing it off on a new account that really doesn’t have access immediately to a vast amount of wealth and demonstrated very well how much of the content you can really do with just the level boost gear as long as you used it wisely on a versatile spec like FB. I always found it a bit hard to relate to any of the gearing guides when they where being shown by accounts that already had full legendary gear and thousands of gold and an army of 30 alt characters. Pretty much any player can watch this series and learn something they can then go and replicate, like what metas are lucrative, what to look out for during your gameplay, how to communicate in and use the LFG to do instanced content etc. The only true gap between the Frugal Fighter account and any other new account is Teapots combat experience and efficiency in instanced content and the vast amount of hours Teapot can put in on a daily basis. This was really just a way to share the huge knowledge he has of the game in a step by step demonstration on an actually new account so you can come back any time and follow along when you feel competent enough to play that game mode.
The point isn't to be a formula for people to follow. It's about introducing players to key concepts that will get them towards their goal and help them to understand how the game works. The 'fun' part is then seeing how far I can push that.
Bear in mind I held back A LOT here and played very chill deliberately to not make it completely insane, if I really wanted to I could have quite comfortably done double the gold per hour.
However, what I'm doing here is 100% doable for new players I'm not doing anything crazy here - mostly open world and then selling my items, the fact that I get a lot of comments like this is evidence to me of how the basics of the game are really not common knowledge at all - that's a big problem that I'm trying to address with this series.

The basics of the game are completely hidden from the player, as the game itself doesn't communicate at all to the player what you really should be doing to enjoy the game to its fullest, and then there is the overwhelming amount of content which can be paralyzing as a new player.
This series has shown very clearly that for one, the barrier of entry in seemingly intimidating content (From a completely new players perspective), such as fractals or strike missions, is not really that high at all and you can definitely do them right away after reaching level 80 and getting your exotic gear (Either by booster or leveling yourself), as well it highlights the importance of using the lfg system which is a little daunting to navigate, and easy to overlook, and maybe also daunting to get into without this content showing how easy and fun it is!

Probably a couple months now, he stopped steaming the 0-to-hero series just so UA-cam can catch up becasue it is very far behind. Sorry you missed the sale I’m sure it will come around again!

Maybe it's too late and no one will see this, but is there a complete written "zero to hero" guide anywhere? I know I am not the only one that has trouble following information across 30+ videos.
unless the rng gods truly hate me, i really wouldn't say you'll be drowning in ascended gear once you do t4s and t4 cms. sure you'll get the occasional weapon drop or sth, but mainly it's just rings. rings rings rings with useless stats.
Same here. Been in T4 for a month now, doing the dailies (360 reward crates?) and I've gotten 3 ascended gear chests. All boots. I don't need more boots! So many rings. Almost not even worth the salvaging tools to salvage them.

ah man its so sad as a new player who just bought the expansions that i need even more DLC content to make money. I do the strike missions but cant even loot the chests it sucks

You can exchange Eternal Ice Shards for Mistborn Motes and consume those to get Volatile Magic, for example.

Fun series, but can’t say I’ve been able to learn to much. As a new player, i have no idea what any of the terminology means, especially outside of the first pre expansion story and world content. So maybe when I finish all the expansions this series will help me learn
This is exactly why I don’t recommend this video series to new players, because Teapot has skipped over so much of the game and how new players learn to play GW2.

@@anonymous071985 I always recommend that new players learn the game at their own pace doing what they enjoy within the game. I strongly suggest that they play with friends or make new friends in the community, as playing with others is always more fun. Plus ask questions and look up guide videos when they have trouble with any part of the game.
The earlier episodes are probably a lot better for that, I do try to avoid jargon but it definitely slips in sometimes for sure. I do want to address this with some video content down the line.
@@MightyTeapot I support your videos and applaud your efforts, but I think many of your other videos are better than this series for new players. This series is great for a small set of new players who are more experienced with MMORPG games in general. Keep up the great work that you do for the GW2 community.

Are you in the public strikes? I think most experienced players use private squad strikes. Check the LFG for invites.
NA or EU? I’ve never had trouble finding a strike run in LFG around the 7-12pm CET prime time here in europe

Bought the expansions, farmed for everything else
you cannot buy the expansions, but you can buy the living world stories. They're like story chapters that also bring new maps and what not. Essentially expansions in every sense of the word but purchasable with gems instead of cash.
So he started with a free account + real-money-only expasions (which are Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire and End of Dragons) and got everything else in-game.

I really like you series Mr.Teapot 👍 but have couple things to say. In my opinion the account didn't saw much progression, in terms that if I made new account today and swipe my card I'm gonna have pretty much same account. I understand that quality of life(not maps) items are rly useful but I wouldn't use them to progress account. I mean I would say which are useful and good to go for, but farming gold and then buying them feels kinda cheap when I can swipe and save myself week of UNHINGED farming 😄and it also kinda sends message that all important stuff is in gemstore and nowhere else. So I hope next year we get more real account progression like legendaries,mounts, collection etc stuff that counts towards account value and it's not in gemstore.
Well I hate to say it, basically everything in this game is in the gem store as you can buy gold.
Also I do think that it's pretty interesting to see how easy it is to buy all the content and most of the key QoL so early on using a fresh account.

I’d say the livestream was at least a month ago if not more. The UA-cam videos are very far behind, he even stopped streaming the FrugalFighter to let the UA-cam side catch up to the stream
