Prefer the wetterhorn/ matterhorn route as can also tick off the Matterhorn
I got chased off Uncompahgre 3 times by weather before I was able to summit. My favorite peak in all of Colorado!
Mountain from the Grinch is a perfect description
I love this one! When I did this last summer, there were hundreds of sheep being herded around the base of the mountain, and I saw only 2 people that day.
This has to be on my list!
My favorite 14er! I saw two foxes on the summit last summer when I did it, truly magical
Can’t wait to do this one in late September 🤩
Great video as always!
This Florida man appreciates your content. Cant wait to get out there and bag some peaks soon! Your videos are immensely helpful. Hope you have a great day!
Just did this hike about a week ago! Great conditions and a perfectly sunny day. Didn’t mind the snow fields at all! Up to 17 this summer now going for all 58 in a summer!
This was my first 14er...back in July of 1997, Hoping to maybe do it again next year. Thanks for an excellent video (sad about no drones...but them's the breaks)
Amazing video. That board down looked like a blast. I cant wait to get back to the SJ’s this year. Lezzgooo
My favorite 14er!
Mine is Crestone Needle. Done it 3 times. It is one of my favorite hikes/climbs in Colorado. Such a beautiful area too.
Need to get back to do the Needle again this year, have a feeling I will love the standard route.
Love the positivity and also love this peak - views and peak look amazing. Definitely adding this to my list to do
Love this hike! The summit views with the snow is beautiful
Breathtaking scenery, this whole place is so picturesque and scenic! Simply stunning content my friend!
Such a beautiful hike! While I may be new here all of your videos are so helpful to me. Keep this awesome work up!!!
Sherpaman! Lets go! The camera magic makes me laugh. You can't see the stick from camera to your hand , yet it shows up clear as day as a shadow on the snow.
Amazing! Love your videos! Keep em coming!
just used the onx code thanks for the discount!
Appreciate it - you'll love Onx
Yassssss. Looking out my backdoor at her right now!
Riding down is the way to go!
Awsome.
Congrats on the new rig. Get you much closer to TH
Hopefully doing this 14er in August. Great video man!
thank you so much for filming this! saw the insta posts and was hoping this guide would come after. I look at Uncompahgre every day from Montrose, this year I'll summit
Lucky to live down there 👍🏽
Over a 100 14’ers..,that’s impressive!!!
The ride down was worth the price of admission!
1000%
Every once in a while someone rams an airplane into uncomphedgre. They had a pilot ram it with an A-10 II and it has been rammed with a variety of light aircraft and turboprops the suicide peak.
An interesting and rarely done way is from owl creek up to the pass between Matterhorn and Uncompagre and circle around to finish onone of the regular routes . You go by some spectacular and very rotten walls .
Jones frontier hell yeah
🏂
1:26 El paso is the other creek
Then I am not the only one who walks uphill and uses the snowboard for the downhill. Hay what is the thing called its basically a cane with a point on the end to wedge between rocks to get stability. Its not a climbing ax or treking pole and I snapped the one I had in wyoming.
Great video! Im planning on doing this hike later this month. What is the camping situation along nellie creek road? Are there dispersed sites or are you just primitive camping off the road?

It’s hard to beat anything about the San Juans.✌️
What 50 mile race are you doing? I’m looking for a summer mountain race.
San Juan Solstice
Good luck at your race! Is it the San Juan Solstice? I hope you make a some race videos if you feel like doing that!
Yessir and yeah will make one on it and have one on Leadville and silver rush 50, check ‘em out if you haven’t 👊🏽
@The Virtual sherpa I've watched all your racing & running videos, you do a great job on them! Looking forward to this one! That 16 hour cut-off is brutal!
You would think blanca or pike would be the mountain of choice to fly into by someone with an airplane wanting to commit suicide. You have several big cities that can be reached within an hour of pike and blanca. Lubbock, Oklahoma City, Wichita, Amarillo, Denver, Colorado Springs
I hear marmots and porcupines are an issue in that area for vehicles. Do you do anything to prevent them from eating your cars wires?
Feel that those handful of stories of when it happens (in the San Juan’s or other ranges) are more the anomaly Vs what usually happens. If you are looking to play it safe, I’ve heard people using chicken wire on the bottom of their vehicles. Having said that, I’ve left a number of different cars overnight in many different areas down here and have never had a problem.
The matterhorn creek trail is shorter .
Is "Recreator" a word?
