Well, this is the first video I have watched on proofreading. As you pointed out, I had no idea this job existed. I shall keep working on the training, its a truck driver mantra, " if the wheels aint turning, you aint earning". Thanks for a great presentation.
Yeah absolutely. Similar, but the reality is they can be very different jobs. The only thing to be careful of is if someone hires you as a proofreader, but what they're really looking for is a copy editor. You can end up in a situation where they want to pay you less for doing more.
Grammarly, autocorrect, Wordtune, etc... correct incorrectly too. I was so perturbed with Grammarly's plethora of errors I had to contact them. Moreover, none of them can correct or detect when someone uses a vocabulary in the wrong context. That is when we educators (teachers and professors) can tell when students are relying on Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools instead of learning how to do it themselves.
Great topic! I've wondered whether adding proofreading as a side hustle would be worth the time involved. Thanks for the insight and the list of proofreading jobs online!
Thanks Karen! I think it can be a great starting point for people dipping their toes into the freelance waters. Lots of opportunity, that may not pay quite as well as being a full on content writer, but could be a good way to mix up the services you offer as well.
Thanks for the video! I'm a decent writer, wrote table top campaigns, wrote in my college newspaper and just generally enjoy articulating verbage. I work full time and am more than willing to start from the bottom and work my way up. I think that I may have a shot at becoming an amicable proof reader. Thanks again for the content! 1 new sub!
Thank you very much for that link makinf it easier to find proofreading jobs. You’re an absolute Doll for that. Love your energy too. Have a good one.😌
Your content is always so incredibly helpful, Sean. I've made the decision to enter the world of writing, editing and proofreading and your videos make it all so much easier to navigate. Thank you 🙌🏻
"Don't just tell them they're stupid, they don't know how to write" XD I was going to do this at work (of course not that blunt, I wasn't going to call them stupid...or was I), most people where I work can't write to save their lives. I'm not the best, but I can spot their mistakes and I was going to offer my "services" for free to get "experience" to put on my resume.

Getting clarity on the distinction between proofreading and editing is very helpful, as I think many of us do use them as synonyms.
