    All these hate comments are so sad. I am a barrel racer and people don’t understand that she is doing something verrrry hard. She is a good rider, and her horse isn’t just doing everything.

      As a dressage rider, I completely understand the frustration of 'the horse does all the work' BS comments. I've never barrel raced, but I'm sure you guys are doing way more in the saddle than casual observers think. I've done a lot of disciplines, and not one of them was 'just sitting there'. Riding horses is intense work, period.

      Hell yeah! Just hanging on alone looks really difficult.. My 7 year old daughter is just starting horse riding and she got led around some barrels today (walking speed) and her instructor told us to watch some videos of competitive barrel racing..
      I can honestly say I'm amazed! Even as a complete beginners father who has never really ridden horses myself, I can see it's definitely not the horse doing all the work, that's a stupid assumption..
      Haters will be haters and know-it-alls won't learn 🤷🏻‍♂️..

    I’ve never seen so many people argue about a barrel racing video. I get it she literally weights nothing compared to the horse, I get it it’s a push style horse it knows what it’s doing, also every barrel horse ever puts its ears back when running, also if y’all are so worried about her using spurs and a whip does that mean your gonna bash every other barrel racer too? cause about 89% of barrel racers use whips and spurs. Just let the girl have her moment. Jeez.

    • @LKM7.
      @LKM7. 3 роки тому +2

      Yes, the horse was fine! In fact a lot of barrel racers in my area use neither a whip or spurs, but even if they did the horse isn’t pinning its ears, because if it had it would do something about it unless that’s just one patient horse. Most horses I’ve seen with pinned ears won’t take any of that crap

    Barrel racing actually isn’t abuse which some people think. They don’t pull the horse as they have very loose reins, they train the horse well before they go that fast and the horses would never do something like that if they didn’t like it! Amazing job

    The awesome thing is, it's not the horse .. it's not the girl .. it's the bond . Obviously her mom didn't do this good on him, but she does because they have a very special bond . Take Hailey kinsel for example, do u think anyone could jump on sister and beat arena records repeatedly? No , because that's her horse that loves her . That's why it's important to get the right horse , because if you don't get along , instead of a partner the horse becomes the enemy. That is another reason you shouldn't abuse you horse because if you do .. they'll never give you their full potential

    So I'm a barrel racer and I dont wear a helmet and I haven't been killed or had a brain injury and if I do get killed or get a brain injury I would know that it happened while I was doing something I love and all of this stuff comes with the sport ... Even when u sit on the horse it could kill you ... And I have tried jumping and barrel racing 1: barrel racing is more fun
    2:barrel racing is way more hard (at least for me) and its more of a thrill than jumping is

    • @nicoledenham5106
      @nicoledenham5106 6 років тому

      I've never been severely injured while riding. I have been riding for 20+ years and still barrel race and train barrel horses. The only time I have ever been seriously injured I was loading an in your pocket 12 year old horse I had for 8 years and one day she decided when I tied her in my slant load trailer she didn't want to stay and wanted to go she reared up kicked my 2 inches from my temple the other side of my head bounced off the metal trailer 3+ times according to Dr. I was in a coma for 2 weeks. To all those saying where's her helmet. Accidents happen. Guess we should wear one when we are loading our horses to.

      For me jumping is more fun because you are literally flying across the air at a gallop which is pretty damn insane. And it's more useful if u are blocked from a fence. Plus, people actually get KILLED for jumping so yeah... but I do respect your opinion!

    • @myronschabe
      @myronschabe 7 місяців тому

      It is really stupid that they don't make barrel racers wear helmets....I had to when I barrel raced and jumped as a youth, it was not a big deal...not only for protecting the rider but for protecting society....do you know how much it costs society (not to mention members of your family!) to become quadriplegic and disabled from a brain or neck injury. No duh, it may not have ever happened to you... thankfully it does not happen that often but is sure is not worth the risk when it can be prevented thru a simple thing like wearing a helmet...that is just plain stupidity and adolescent, redneck stubbornness. Grow up!

    Everyone is so amazed with her, but the truth is that she would be nothing without Flo. This horse knows this pattern like his own stall, so she doesn't even need to steer much, just spur on him. Anyone could do that, right? If you'd put her on a jumping horse, on an arena filled with jumping fences and ask her to remember a completely new pattern, it would not be so pretty. And why the fuck is she not wearing a helmet? If she falls or the horse slips, she dies.

      Amazing People barrel racing is so freaking easy. I've tried it on multiple occasions and honestly not hard at all. Have you ever tried eventing? Jumping meters in a corse you have never seen before, going through lakes and over ditches without going over a specific time limit, dancing which your horse using no words but still every single muscle in your body and have to make it look so simple? Didn't think so. I have an Irish sport horse and a Dutch warmblood, we do hardcore work 4 days a week jumping taller than you and working on dressage skills you could never even do with your own two legs. I've never used huge spurs or harsh bits that inflict pain just to force my horses to listen to me. We have bonds you could never even imagine. Exactly. Point proven.

    It really upsets me to see these riders ,especially a little girl like that, riding with no helmets. As an EMT and Paramedic I have seen 4 highly experienced riders taken to the hospital and two of them are still sitting in their wheelchairs drooling in a cup saying how they "ushed ta be a helluva ridda". To let a child ride helmetless is a disgusting example of shitty parenting.

      This is some machismo, Texass freedom type of thing is all I can surmise, yet who picks up the bill of something like that is the person's family and the taxpayers so it is entirely not noble and thoroughly selfish for no good reason. It is the associations who should be held in contempt not the individual, but yeah, parents should know better.
      ANY horse can trip and fall in these circumstances so it has nothing to do with level or anything.

  • @reignamontgomery4481
    @reignamontgomery4481 7 років тому +51

    Saying that she should be wearing a helmet doesn't mean someone is jealous. My daughter jumps and foxhunts, and we're definitely NOT jealous that your kid can hold on while her horse runs around three barrels in a pattern it already knows. Try taking the horse into the arena around jumps it has never seen, in a pattern it doesn't know and just has to trust the rider to turn it the right way and make that a winning partnership then you can say I'm jealous. Until then, take this for what it is - legitimate concern for all riders but especially for young riders who's brains aren't even developed completely in the front enough to make adult decisions. Because the people she TRUSTS, the adults around her, are making a decision that could easily cost her life. If she falls, even a saintly horse could fall on her, or hit her in the skull with a hoof trying to keep clear of her, or she could fall and hit her head on the gate or rail, or any one of a million different scenarios. And of COURSE it will never happen to your loved one because yours is just that special/skilled/talented/lucky/good horse/great rider/insert whatever dumb reason here that you feel your child will not suffer the same fate as anyone else put in that position. I hope that pretty hair flying in the breeze is worth it if she does take a fall one day and wind up with a traumatic brain injury. Because I can point you to plenty of parents who wish they could go back to that ONE moment before their kid got on and got hurt or worse. And plenty of adult riders who wish they'd just worried less about their hair or their friend's comments about the sissy helmet and just taken care of the only brain they had before they damaged it. Former nationally ranked dressage rider Courtney King Dye has said she wishes she'd been wearing a helmet the day her horse tripped at a WALK and she landed wrong, leaving her forever dealing with the effects of a TBI. And plenty of people who wished their loved one had put on a helmet and lived, or hadn't left them caring for them full-time for the rest of their lives. Yeah, obviously I know this kid could get hit by a car tomorrow and all the other stupid straw man arguments people like to throw up as a rational. The biggest thing though is just that you don't have the RIGHT to put everyone else through what happens to more than just the parents after a kid gets hurt like that - from the first responders who have to pick her broken body up off the dirt and try and keep her heart beating until they can get her to the hospital, to the spectators that have to live with that in their minds forever, to the doctor who has to try and put a shattered skull back together and pray there's no brain deficit afterword. To the person who has to come share the news if they can't save your rider, and forever have that just another scar on their psyche. Not to mention the huge cost financially as well...hopefully you have health insurance, but even if you do the hospital will absorb costs, you will have to cover what the insurance won't, not to mention long term care for severe TBI, rehab costs, loss of future earnings, etc. If you are willing to sign a waiver that no one but YOU is physically or financially responsible for the results of any injury to your rider should you choose for her to compete sans helmet then great! But I bet you wouldn't sign that waiver - instead you are going to change nothing and keep throwing her up there and hoping that nothing, not even an uneven surface in the arena, causes a slip or stumble. And odds are decent that she'll live to teach her own kids how to be incredibly irresponsible. Are you 100% certain you can live with the results should she have an accident without a helmet on, and is either killed or left with severe brain injuries? You can watch her struggle to speak and unable to ride or even play with her friends anymore, or go to school, because she's left disabled? That won't hurt you, and you will never think "if I had just cared less about her hair and more about the skull and brain under that hair." I will never, ever understand anyone who thinks their kid will never get hurt. We are already taking enough risk trusting them on the backs of thousand-plus pound prey animals. If you wouldn't let her go around in flat shoes because her leg might slip through the stirrup and get hung up then why let her ride without a helmet? It is one thing if we are talking about unproven items that haven't been shown to increase rider safety, or ones that are prohibitively expensive. Helmets are cheap and they save lives. No question. They are available in almost any tack shop in the nation, and they are easily ordered off Amazon with fast and cheap delivery to all parts of the globe. There is no REAL, RATIONAL excuse. Only some stupid personal feeling that appearance is more important than a kids' brain, or that outrageously stupid delusion that your kid won't get hurt. Not your kid, amirite?
