I've only every seen natterjacks once, at night by torchlight in sand dune pools in the north west, not far from Liverpool. The guide knew they were there and we heard them calling before seeing the reflections of their eyes. Smaller than common toads but attractive little fellers. Despite not being 'allowed' to handle them we caught a couple to have a closer look. They were spawning, despite there not being much vegetation to work the spawn strands round.

Such a good video! Makes me miss summer! But it will be back around in no time :)

This coming season is going to be interesting for a number of reasons, including the fact that I intend to start making my own videos.

Oh sounds nice! I can't wait to go back to durlston, not sure if you know where that is. There suppose to have adders there, which I really want to see! Never seen one before. But was lucky enough to see a smooth snake in the distance whilst at Arne nature reserve in dorset earlier this year!😀

Durlston is in Dorset right? I think I've been there in the past. I've only ever seen natterjack toads at RSPB Sandy - I've been living in Cambridge for the past 5 years so that is pretty close by. I still need to see a smooth snake (and sand lizard).

Yep it's in dorset! The smooth snake was right their on the side of the footpath, it was hard to spot but I happened to see it. Obviously your not aloud to touch them so I was gutted in a way but I can understand because their so so rare. I've always wanted to see a sand lizard, but I doubt that will never happen! Dorset is a great place for reptiles :)

Dorset is a great place and it's where most of the videos that I've uploaded were filmed. I'm sure you'll get an opportunity some day.

Too right! During two weeks exploring the Heaths near Swanage I saw adders, slow worms, common lizards and one rare sand lizard. The sand lizard emerged onto a sandy bank as I was lying in wait for adders that I noticed used the bank for morning basking. A rare treat in its green beauty. Wonder if the larger adders predate sand lizards? Hope not. Sadly no smooth snake sightings as they are as rare and elusive.
